Stocked with some of the country's premier golf vacation destinations, South Carolina is loaded with top public and resort courses. Picking the best or most popular public golf course in South Carolina isn't easy.
GolfPass releases a Top 25 Public Golf Courses in South Carolina every January thanks to YOU. We create our annual Golfers' Choice lists by curating the reviews submitted by everyday golfers. We use GolfPass' Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course's subcategory averages.
Each course needed at least three reviews and at least some public access to qualify. Unfortunately, the Ocean course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort and the Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island did not have enough reviews to qualify. Make sure you review the Ocean course, Harbour Town Golf Links and the other excellent courses at Kiawah Island Golf Resort and Hilton Head Island the next time you visit either place.
We make our Golfers' Choice best-of lists user friendly. Simply click on the photo of each course to learn more about the facility or to book a tee time (in most cases).

I have played Greer Country Club many times - only as a last resort... because it is close to my house. It is in the best shape it has ever been in, (I will give you that), but this ranking is egregiously off. It's like changing the brakes on a Ford Fiesta and declaring it one of the best vehicles on the road. The Greer Country Club was designed on a napkin - if that tells you anything. If you go... plan to wait, wear a hard hat, and keep your eyes peeled.
