About
Wildwood Green Golf Club in northern Raleigh was designed with players of all skill levels in mind, Opened in 1986, the classic layout underwent a major renovation 10 years later that made it into a challenging but playable test that welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. Generous landing areas offer some room for error off of the tee and the greens are large and inviting. There are still plenty of trees and sand traps to keep the layout interesting though. Accuracy and careful pin placement are also required to handle Wildwood Green's subtle elevation changes. The golf course finishes with one of its most difficult holes. This par 4 is a slight dogleg right with Carolina pines bordering the right edge as well as a bunker to the left. The approach is an uphill, blind shot to a deep and undulated green.

Golfer Reviews
slow play
The course was good as could be for the time of year. The staff was friendly also. The rate of play was so slow (2 1/2 hours for 9 holes) that I had to quit after 9 and take a rain check.
Great greens - Champion Bermuda
Wonderful undulating layout, although fairways and rough are dormant this time of year. Greens were superb!
New greens coming in nicely. Course is trending up
New greens are taking nicely. Should be a major improvement for this course. Other actions being taken to get the course in better shape. Many of the tee boxes which were grassless are coming around. Hopefully ownership will continue to make investments. Nice setup with good mix of different shaped holes. Pace of play can be on the slow side. Course really needs a ranger to keep pace of play up and make slower groups let faster groups play through. Other than that, course is definitely trending up. Very nice facilities, snack bar, range, and putting/chipping greens.
Nice course but too slow
The course was in great shape and the layout is a good but not extreme challenge. My complaint is the pace of play is too slow. We waited to hit on every tee box and frequently for second shots as well. Total time was 4 hours 35 minutes and it should be 4 our under. This was supposedly the least busy day of the week (Wednesday) so I would not consider playing any other day if it's even slower. Course marshal"s were present, but I don't think they were able to speed anyone up.
Nice job on renovated greens. Hopefully member and players repair divots and keep course up.
Temporary Greens
Wildwood's greens have been redone to go to Bermuda and will not be reopened until September'17.
They lost there GREENS!
All good except the greens! They lost 85% of each green, the dead part running a 12, the grass part running an 8. temp greens going in, I would stay away for the year.
NICE MONDAY COURSE
NICE COURSE, THE PLAY WAS NICE AND CONSTANT WITH LITTLE TO NO INTERRUPTIONS. COURSE WAS IN DECENT SHAPE BUT THE GREENS REALLY NEED A LOT OF WORK. DRY GREENS OR LARGE PATCHES OF GRASS COMPLETELY MISSING. BUT WOULD DEFF PLAY IT AGAIN.
This course could be excellent
The course greens are in bad shape,,
We were told they are going to be redone
In july and ypu will putt on temporary greens.
The putting green is closed.
But im sure after the necessary repairs it
Could be an enjoyable place to play.
Great layout, poor greens
The course has a fantastic layout and was in great shape except for the greens which were extremely poor condition. Staff was great however pace of play needs to be monitored especially on the weekends.
Wildwood Green 4/14/17
Got a Hot deal to play WIldwood Green as a single on Good Friday. Knew it would be crowded but such a nice day and needed to get some practice in. First time playing here.
Got paired with 3 guys who were great. Fairways were transitioning to Summer Bermuda but not bad. However, the greens were a different story. I thought WG replaced their greens last fall? Every green had some kind of weed like growth over significant portions of the green that did affect putting. Layout is fairly tight but interesting.
Biggest complaint was pace of play. We caught up to a foursome on hole 8 and proceeded to wait on every tee box and shot into the green until we were done. Everyone of the guys were bad, two were walking, one took 3 practice strokes before every putt and best I could tell did not make one putt. On 15 the ranger asked me how many holes on the back had I waited on them and told him every hole. He headed off to the direction but nothing changed. Since 2 were walking I assume they were "members:" so not sure what really could be done.
WG has to figure out the greens problem soon. I won't return until they do. As far as the pace of play, not sure what the answer is. I've played with plenty of golfers who shoot 100+ but "keep up".
Good Course
Nice track ..some challenging holes ..good value,,
The greens are in bad shape because they are killing them off to replace with champion Bermuda. Should be good to go in 3-4 months
