About
Wildwood Green Golf Club in northern Raleigh was designed with players of all skill levels in mind, Opened in 1986, the classic layout underwent a major renovation 10 years later that made it into a challenging but playable test that welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. Generous landing areas offer some room for error off of the tee and the greens are large and inviting. There are still plenty of trees and sand traps to keep the layout interesting though. Accuracy and careful pin placement are also required to handle Wildwood Green's subtle elevation changes. The golf course finishes with one of its most difficult holes. This par 4 is a slight dogleg right with Carolina pines bordering the right edge as well as a bunker to the left. The approach is an uphill, blind shot to a deep and undulated green.

Would go again
Nice course, greens could use some help. Nice pro shop. Close to highway 540. Big fairways. A few holes had sand traps around the green. A few had big water holes. Nicely marked cart paths. Went at noon time on a Monday and it was busy.
good layout. good for a change
Froup in front was a walking foursome two hole behind forward group. I was in a twosome and they would not let us through. We skipped the 9th to move ahead. Greens had bare spots and not very maintained. Probably worse in the area right now. Course still charges full price though. Would wait a few weeks for greens to recover
Marginally above average course in the middle of the Beltline
Nice layout in the middle of Raleigh. If you live here and don't want to drive to the Pinehurst area, Clayton, and Buries Creek but don't want to drop 50-80 birdies at UNC or State courses this is a good place. It does seem a little steep at full retail, ( but that's why we all enjoy GolfNow) Again, if you don't want to travel and want a good layout this is it. Small clubhouse and grill in need of remodeling, the staff was extremely friendly. Seriously. Nice team. I especially appreciate the guy at the counter who gave me a used Callaway tour when I was going to purchase 1 logo ball because I only had two balls in my bag and thought I might need a spare. Exceeding expectations goes a long way with me! I did get behind two hacking groups which caused 4+ hour round. What can you say, Stuff happens.
the course has great features and layout
The first thing that I noticed was the friendly staff .The course had a nice layout ,and challenging the greens were spotty. In all fairness the grounds crew were working to take care of the problem. The course played well had a good outing.
Decent course with lost greens
I've played here numerous times and the course is typically in decent shape. The greens, however, have seen better days. Looks like they lost quite a few of them recently.
Greens need attention
This is a tight course that winds through a housing development. Fairly narrow, tree-lined fairways on many holes - so precision is important if you want to score. Staff are friendly, fairways and tee boxes were in fine shape, but the greens were just awful - among the worst I have seen in the Raleigh area this summer. I had a hot deal through GolfNow, so didn't mind as much as I would have if I had paid full price.
The course was Challenging and Fun
Course was in Good shape, greens had been Aerated made very challenging to get it close. Got off to play quickly. Moved around the Course without any backup. Enjoyed My Round of play at 3:30 on Friday afternoon. Great way to start your weekend.
Good, challenging course close to business area off Creedmoor rd
The course is fun to play and overall in pretty good shape. The greens had been aerated, but the staff was upfront about it. It's definitely a shot maker's course, but very playable. Staff is easy going and cordial.
Good Course, Challenging, Poor Greens
As my comment above, and also as some of the other statements. This course is easy on the eye and has a good feeling in and around it. The tees ad fiarways are in very good condition. But the big issues is the greens. The have taken a serious beating. This year has been very wet so I can give the benefit of doubt.
If I was looking for a local club to join would definitely pick this one. Course is easy enough to still enjoy but hard enough to help improve your game.
Fairways maintained - offered some challenges
Played the front 9 with two gentlemen who new the course well- course was challenging enough without being overdo w - fairways in good shape but greens were a bit rough - need attention
Overall course OK but greens are in bad shape.
Very friendly staff. Diverse layout is nice but includes too any blind shots. Horrible and almost unplayable greens in terrible shape. Tee boxes horrible. Course needs a lot of work.
Consistent experience each time!
Course was in great condition, especially after the maintenance crew caught up to us on the third hole and blew all the debris off the greens. This course is fun, challenges you, and rewards aggressive play. Will definitely be back.
good variety of challenges
Interesting course, with a great variety of challenges. Some fairly easy holes, some difficult. It's pretty hilly, which results in a number of holes that have great views looking down at your target, but also quite a few blind shots hitting up or over hills, and some holes with sloping fairways. There is water of some kind (streams mostly, some lakes) on most holes. #3 has a huge oak tree in the middle with three bunkers to its right, you're supposed to hit to the fairway left of the tree but of course I pushed it right! I signed up as a single, so I was paired up with a couple guys who knew the course and could advise me about what shots to hit. The fairways were in great shape, and the greens rolled fast and true despite being stressed. Gas powered carts with good brakes. Small driving range near the first tee, and a good sized practice green behind the club house, be sure to practice putting first, or you might not get to practice at all.
A nice course with some nice challenges
This was the first time I had played at this course and I did enjoy myself. The greens were in decent shape, but some of them looked a little rough. To be fair though, we have had way too much rain this year and it has been tough for a lot of courses to manage it. With dryer days ahead, I imagine that the greens should look much better in the coming month or so.
Everyone I dealt with at the course was more than friendly. I hung out and talked to one of the starters who actually gave me plenty of tips for each hole on the course. The gentleman in the pro shop was also helpful and friendly too.
Has Potential
Play was extremely slow. Not really sure why. We had to wait on every shot which was ridiculous.
Greens are looking really sad at this point, more than likely because of the heat and wet weather.
Will I play here again, not likely.
Shorter but challenging/fun course!
Had a great time. Lots of elevation changes which required accurate shots off the tee and into the greens. Bunkers were excellent, tee boxes were good. Lots of water which is always fun. Greens were alittle rough. If the greens were in better shape I would easily say 5 stars.
Course is in great shape
Fairways look good, greens are firm and roll true. They have even shaved rough back a bit is some places close to the fairway.
Fun course. Has it's share of challenging holes
First time on this course. Staff was great. Starter give me a few helpful tips before teeing off. Water comes into play. Wild drives will cost the player. Greens is very good shape.
Planning on coming back to play this course!
Great, challenging course for the money
Course was challenging and was a great course for the value.
Course is getting better...
I played Wildwood in April and I did not think it was in great shape. However, when I played it this past weekend, it had improved quite a bit. They have also adjusted their pricing down so I now consider it to be more in line with the quality of the course.
