Wildwood Green Golf Course
About
Wildwood Green Golf Club in northern Raleigh was designed with players of all skill levels in mind, Opened in 1986, the classic layout underwent a major renovation 10 years later that made it into a challenging but playable test that welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. Generous landing areas offer some room for error off of the tee and the greens are large and inviting. There are still plenty of trees and sand traps to keep the layout interesting though. Accuracy and careful pin placement are also required to handle Wildwood Green's subtle elevation changes. The golf course finishes with one of its most difficult holes. This par 4 is a slight dogleg right with Carolina pines bordering the right edge as well as a bunker to the left. The approach is an uphill, blind shot to a deep and undulated green.

A nice course with some nice challenges
This was the first time I had played at this course and I did enjoy myself. The greens were in decent shape, but some of them looked a little rough. To be fair though, we have had way too much rain this year and it has been tough for a lot of courses to manage it. With dryer days ahead, I imagine that the greens should look much better in the coming month or so.
Everyone I dealt with at the course was more than friendly. I hung out and talked to one of the starters who actually gave me plenty of tips for each hole on the course. The gentleman in the pro shop was also helpful and friendly too.
Has Potential
Play was extremely slow. Not really sure why. We had to wait on every shot which was ridiculous.
Greens are looking really sad at this point, more than likely because of the heat and wet weather.
Will I play here again, not likely.
Shorter but challenging/fun course!
Had a great time. Lots of elevation changes which required accurate shots off the tee and into the greens. Bunkers were excellent, tee boxes were good. Lots of water which is always fun. Greens were alittle rough. If the greens were in better shape I would easily say 5 stars.
Course is in great shape
Fairways look good, greens are firm and roll true. They have even shaved rough back a bit is some places close to the fairway.
Fun course. Has it's share of challenging holes
First time on this course. Staff was great. Starter give me a few helpful tips before teeing off. Water comes into play. Wild drives will cost the player. Greens is very good shape.
Planning on coming back to play this course!
Great, challenging course for the money
Course was challenging and was a great course for the value.
Course is getting better...
I played Wildwood in April and I did not think it was in great shape. However, when I played it this past weekend, it had improved quite a bit. They have also adjusted their pricing down so I now consider it to be more in line with the quality of the course.
Great Find in Raleigh
Was a little concerned when I read reviews elsewhere that this was going to be a five-plus hour round. Teed off at 8:30 AM and played in four hours. Couldn't have been happier. Thoroughly enjoyable course with a flat first hole and hills pretty much every hole afterward. Lots of large greens that can leave you with long, undulating putts if you miss it in the wrong spot.
There were lots of walkers going off as we were playing 15-18, so I assume it does get pretty slow. There are plenty of notices about pace of play posted in the carts, and there are clocks on a lot of tee boxes, so it at least appears they care about pace, though I can't say if they enforce it.
I will definitely be back and would consider joining (I played with a member who recommended it) if I played enough and wanted to to play in one place all the time.
P.S. If you are reading this and take longer than 4:15 to ride 18 holes, please speed up. You are holding everyone else up, and you are not good enough to take that long.
Great Sunday Outing
Challenging elevations and well protected greens, typically not my favorite style of course. But play moved well and was able to post a respectable score for the beginning of the season.
