Sunset Country Club

About
Opened in 1922, Sunset Country Club in Sumter is one of the oldest golf courses in the Santee area. Donald Ross designed the original layout. The course has a traditional design that was renovated by John LaFoy in the '90s but its original character was carefully preserved. The golf course is relatively flat although there are some subtle but tricky contours to provide the occasional uneven lie. Stands of mature trees frame the holes and they also border the fairways. The bunkering is minimal but it is strategically placed for maximum challenge. Beginners should feel confident approaching the course since it offers risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. The versatile layout and casual atmosphere of the club makes it a great option for tournaments and events.
