The Golf Club of Bristol

About
The Golf Club of Bristol was founded in 1894, making it one of the longest running clubs in the country. It's also considered the birthplace of organized golf in Tennessee and is still recognized as one of the best courses in the state. The current address is the fourth physical location of the club. The course that stands today was the created by A.G. McKay, a Tennessee native. The layout is challenging but fair with long, narrow fairways and fast, undulating greens. With several risk-reward holes throughout, it's a golf course that will make you think. The par-4 ninth, one of the tougher holes, is a dogleg left that plays uphill and over water. Besides the excellent game it offers, The Golf Club of Bristol is known for having some of the most well manicured fairways and greens in the area.

Great Course
The Club at Bristol is really great but just like everything else this summer the fairways and tee boxes are extra crispy without any rain for a while. Overall it’s a great place to play and very affordable.
Great course
My son and I played 18 holes, it was very HOT but we had a great day together. The course is in excellent shape. Best course around!
Nice place
Played 18 here the staff was very nice and course was in great condition pace was play was excellent I hope to play here again soon one of the nicer courses in the area if I was home more often and not always out of town working I would get a membership here
Water, Wind and Welcoming
My wife and I enjoyed a pre-Mother's Day outing to The Club 1894. The course was in great early Spring shape. The wind and the water hazards played into our game and made it challenging but fun. The staff was accommodating and friendly.
If only I lived in Tennessee
Out of state resident who drove 2.5 hours to play this private course. Friendliest staff/members in the Tri-cities area. From Jeff the guy up front to the nice gentleman and lady who operate the club. Would highly recommend!
Absolutely pure
Challenging course
Course was in decent shape for a winter month. Back 9 much more challenging than front. Enjoyed the course but a still confused why I was told that GolfNow requires those who book with them to have to play as a foursome. I have been with GolfNow for many many years and have played as what I have booked and have never known GolfNow to require having to play as a foursome . I've ONLY read on their rules that the course may pair players to save time . Please advise me if I'm wrong that's it's just the courses discrepancy and not GolfNow. We arrived over an hr early and between the time we arrived and the time of my teatime, no one arrived to play.
Always in great shape
I play this course about once or twice a year generally, sometimes a little more and I've never played it when it wasn't in spectacular condition no matter what the season as far as the course itself the only negative criticism I could mention would be a lot of the collar areas around the greens need some work but in the grand scheme of things that's a pretty minor detail if that's the only flaw you could find in course conditions staff like always is super friendly even to nonmembers and personally that's the way it should be as every guest is a potential member and other private clubs in the area without mentioning any names that are in Johnson City could take note of that the course is very fair and not too long or too difficult for any number of skill levels and has a good variety of holes some shot making holes some reachable par fives things like that you won't be disappointed in the course itself at all but don't expect any type of pro shop amenities that you will find at a typical golf club although I'm sure it is coming at some point but the course itself is always in super condition they do a fantastic job there even in the off-season when golf courses generally can be a little rough around the edges
Great Round in Bristol
Fun layout, course in good shape. Very friendly staff. Will surely play again when in the area.
Great course!
The course was in amazing condition, staff were kind, overall 10/10
Jewel
Play this course. Even with several inches of rain the night before the course and greed were in very good shape. The sand traps were not useable but everything else was fine.
Great course for the money!
Not a bad hole on the course. Greens were in great shape. Played in 4 hours.
