Twelve Stones Golf Club
About
Twelve Stones Golf Club (formerly known as Twelve Stones Crossing) sprawls across rolling hills, making the golf course known for its dramatic elevation changes. An even lie will be hard to find and golfers will also have a few blind shots in store for them. The undulating terrain makes for some difficult holes but it serves another, more player-friendly purpose of providing scenic respite with idyllic views of the surrounding countryside. The greens are lightning fast, but they roll true and there is rough bordering the well-manicured fairways. There are also several bunkers strategically placed throughout. It is a golf course that is challenging but still fun to play, a statement that holds true for a wide range of skill levels. Given the versatile design and affordable rates, Twelve Stones Golf Club is a popular venue for tournaments and outings.

Rock Hard Greens + Too Much Rough = Much Less Fun
This was my favorite course in the Nashville area. I love a hilly course with lots of elevated tees and greens. But not anymore...
...They redid all the greens on this course in the summer of 2023 because they had several greens with large dead spots in them. Unfortunately, they threw the baby out with the bathwater. The old greens were soft and receptive which is very important when hitting to an elevated green (they have 7 or 8) but the new ones are like pitching your ball into a parking lot. I had one wedge that I hit at least 90-100 feet high which landed on the front of the green, bounced over the flagstick and ran off the back into 4 inches of rough.
I could drop a dozen balls in that rough and the average golfer would be lucky to get up and down once.
Now, if their members like this setup, the club should be congratulated for giving them what they want. As for me, I'll be playing somewhere else that rewards a good shot...
Pace of Play
I schedule a 3:00pm Tee Time. Started late because a foursome went ahead of us due to no staff monitoring the start times. Ended up starting at 3:15 and only was able to play 16 holes. Every hole, the foursome in from of us were at the tee box and both foursome middle of the fairway and another twosome on the green. There were 2 groups waiting behind us as well. One would be at the tee box while we were at our second shot. And as they teed off, another group waiting at the box. I enjoyed playing the course however the pace of play didn’t allow me to get a full 18 in and for the price i was charged that’s ridiculous .
Scenic, great shape
Lots of elevation changes, great turf, nice greens.
Back Again
I enjoyed my golf experience so much here I returned two days later. What I particularly liked this time was the ability to stop at the snack bar in between the 9th and 10th holes and pick up a heated ready to go hamburger. Great thinking on their part.
Twilight play
I squeezed in 12 holes before night fall.
The only issue was that something was going on with the carts. Multiple times and with multiple carts, the GPS would lock down the engine as if it were in a restricted area.
Probably cost me 2 holes because of the slow down for several players ahead of me amd myself.
First time having that happen.
I really like the course and will be back.
Beautiful
Great track fair n tough, beautiful views n homes, greens excellent
Tee boxes were sand bunkers...
There is a lot to like about this course and it's fantastic food options, but the quality of the tee boxes was beyond ridiculous. The layout is very interesting, but the tee boxes are torn up, and sand filled so if you "had" to tee up within the markers, you would not have solid footing from which to swing. Our group, exercising caution, chose to tee up outside the sandboxes acting as tees-
Flat out FUN!
Loved playing here. Lots of challenging elevation changes. Greens were in great shape. Tee boxes need a little work. Rough, although not deep can be punishing as ball sits down and sometimes hard to find ball unless right on top of it. Staff in pro shop and snack bar/restaurant were great to deal with. Excellent chicken salad sandwich. Wish I lived closer and could play it more!
Country club atmosphere on a municipal course
Played here quite a few times now and it was always an “ok” experience. I could take my middle class self out in a t-shirt and sneakers and play a round unbothered, but since they re-opened it seems like they’re trying to be a fancy golf club while putting very little of their overpriced greens fees into actual maintenance. Between the carts reminding you that you’re responsible for house damages and cart path only on fairways lined with hidden stones that scratch up your irons, this course lacks any sort of vibe. McMansions line most holes on the back nine, giving you a wonderful view of everyone’s Traeger grills. If you choose to hit an iron off a teebox, you’re better off hitting it out of a bunker… which coincidentally have as much grass growing in them as the tee boxes. They said the greens were recently redone and are playing really well, but I’d consider them borderline poor condition at the price point. The main challenges on this course seem to be that they just have a ravine in the middle of half the holes so you have to club down on many of them if you hit between 270-300 from the back tees, and there’s no real option of challenging the course with a potential carry that rewards you, just the likelihood of leaking into a hazard if you hit a good drive. Cool. Fun. The only real positives would be that there are some
elevation changes and a few hole designs worth playing. The club house is anemic and features extremely overpriced gear, even compared to other actual country club pro shops. The staff seemed like they couldn’t be bothered, which honestly I don’t blame them as the vibes of this place from the top down seems pretty off. It’s not the worst course I’ve ever played, but for the money you’d be better off playing any of the other cheaper courses in the area. I want to like this course and I’ve shot well here, but it’s rarely fun or challenging, and any course charging over $70 should be at least one of those things.
Calm Before the Storm
I played with two guys I didn't know, and this was one of those times it just clicked. Generally nice design on this very hilly course, with one hole very difficult to reach the green in regulation. Greens in good shape. Pace of play a little slow but not awful.
First time playing this course
Thoroughly enjoyed playing this course. I had a rough day losing balls, it was very challenging.
Course is in better condition now
Maintenance has mowed the rough down to more reasonable levels so that you can now usually find your ball if you're close to a fairway or a green. It is much improved since last week.
Good potential
The Supt clearly does not care about conditions of the course. Tee boxes are sad weeds and sometimes shaggy beyond a tee’d up ball.
