Gaylord Springs Golf Links
About
The Cumberland River gave birth to the Scottish links-style Gaylord Springs Golf Links, a par-72 golf course that provides 18 testing holes that border limestone bluffs and wetlands protected by the feds. The golf course, designed by the former U.S. Open and PGA Champion Larry Nelson, has collected several distinctions over its days.
The big draw on the Gaylord Springs Golf Links is the signature fourth hole, home to the hundred-plus-year-old springhouse that gives the golf course its name.
After a round on the Gaylord Springs Golf Links, head back to the 43,000-square-foot antebellum-style clubhouse to shop, dine, and take in the views of the golf course.

Tell us what we're getting
Very disappointed.... Drove 180 miles one way to play with a friend at a nice place only to find 2 holes closed and they should have closed the others as well. First... who plays 16 holes? Second, how is golf hard when EVERY hole (I think) has multiple huge areas that have been re-sodded and you're told to move the ball you hit into the junk into drop zones in the fairway and most of the time closer to the hole or the fringe of the green. Tell us before we pay what conditions we are going to be playing in.... and don't feel justified by saying you reduced the green fee by 2/18'ths.... Greens were great.... and I'm sure the course will look and be outstanding once everything is finished and grown in....... but in the meantime :(
Gaylord
Loved the layout of the course. Only 16 of 18 holes were open due to bunker repairs. Very nice facility. Greens are in great shape and are like ice.
Amazing Greens, , Good test of golf, Errors of Omission
I really enjoyed this course. A good blend of challenge and fairness. Maybe it was timing but the fairways were soaking wet. I got tired of cleaning mud off my ball and getting no roll on my drives. The greens were perhaps the smoothest I have ever played. They had two holes closed and a par four changed to a par three with a temporary green but no mention of it when we paid our greens fees.
A tale of two experiences
First I have to say I love this course. Third time playing it over the last two years. Last year we played it as part of my future son-in-law's bachelor day and had a great time. My brother is a 5 handicap and plays all the best courses in the U.S. and even Scotland. He said if he lived in Nashville Gaylord Springs would be his home course he liked it so much. So I was excited to play it today.
Heavy rains the previous 3 days made the course a bit soggy and cart path only for carts. No worries, I get it. The disappointing part of the round is that there is some major construction going on. Two holes on the back nine are closed and one other is being played with a temporary hole (which I despise), so could only play 15 holes. The web site and pro shop were both very forthcoming about this which I appreciated very much.
All that said, the course is in very nice shape, the greens roll very true and pretty fast, despite the rains. I played the blue tees and they are fair but challenging. Rough is forgiving, though when you miss the fairway the links style hills can make finding your ball a challenge. The only balls I lost were in lakes due to errant shots on my part!
Pro shop staff and the starter are very friendly and helpful. The Grill is excellent and service very fast and friendly, despite COVID limitations.
I still love this course and will definitely be back, but not until they finish the construction.
good
course was in excellent shape dispite some very noticeable construction going on.the best and fastest greens I ever played on really enjoyed my experience definitely will play again.
Fun Round
Gaylord is always a great round of golf for me. The course has been very wet this Spring but as soon as it dries out, it will be spectacular. The greens are already in great shape and are very fast. Very fun day and can’t wait to go back.
Course is being worked on to make it even better. The greens are in phenomenal shape with lightening speed. Recommend to everyone, but stay below the hole if you want to score and bring your flat stick game!
Perfect Greens
Holes 3,4,11 still under bunker renovation.
Course is in good shape. Greens are absolutely perfect!!
Beautiful day for 16 holes
This course is always beautiful. No doubt one of the best courses in the Nashville area. I had booked knowing about the course construction on the front 9, expecting to play the back 9, twice. However they’ve opened up 7 of the holes on the front 9 “to get more people out” which translates to “make more money” and you only get to play a total of 16 holes. They said the prices are discounted to represent this, however they’re the same as they were when you used to play two 9’s.
Conditions are beautiful. Worth playing if you don’t mind it being cut short a bit and not knowing what your true 18 hole score would be.
Front nine under renovation
Still using back nine twice for 18 hole round.
Major renovations going on the front nine, should be even more incredible than it was before, I can’t wait. Staff is very accommodating and aware or our concerns about limited holes. Open date was projected for 4/8/20, when I played. It looks a long way from being completed.
IMO, Gaylord Springs will be taking their time to complete this job, and just may do the same renovations on the back when this is done. I say this because the Coronavirus pandemic will keep most golfers away for most of this 2020 year. Not to mention, all of the visitors/golfers that would normally be staying at Gaylord Opryland Hotel, would play golf here.
Definitely still worth playing, use different tees the 2nd time around, conditions were good, greens were excellent as usual.
Very nice
Played the back 9 twice. Front nine under repair!
Can’t wait to go back and play it all!
Super fast greens!
Great condition for the weather we’ve had
Course was in best shape I’ve seen for this time of year and all the rain we’ve had. Greens were extremely fast and very smooth even with sand on them. My only complaint is the front 9 was shut down and under construction, but there was no mention of that. Played the back 9 twice. Probably why the price is lower now. But overall I still felt like it was a great value for the money.
Wet but playable
Course was very wet due to tons of rain. Course drained pretty well. Front side closed for what I think will be another 30 days at least. This is overall one of the best courses in the Nashville area. Play if possible when you are in the area. Call an ensure the course has all 18 holes open.
Could only play the back 9
The course was under repair and we could only play the back 9 holes. We still had fun and the starter was very nice.
Front 9 was closed but beautiful course
We played in March and the front was closed. The back was in phenomenal condition and despite the amount of shots we hit into the river and lakes we had a great time!
Only one side
I was not informed that there would only be the back 9 to play (which is the least fun side to play). I could have played a full 18 holes at a different course for half the price. I was extremely disappoint with the course today for the price I paid. Golfnow did a horrible job with informing me about the condition of the course.
Front Nine Under Construction til Mid March
The front nine is under construction until mid March. Then they will be fixing up the back nine one hole at a time. Course should be better than ever by mid April. As it was today, the greens are the best around and a lot of fun to play. I like the back nine better than the front and it’s more challenging. The river was very high so it might take on more water but even with being very wet the dormant grass was doing well. My main criticism of this course is the layout. It’s a pseudo links course so I understand the 9 out 9 in philosophy but it really is back and forth in the same direction. With the river being there every hole plays into the wind or down wind. The only exception is #13. There are some good holes but it does make a few seem like mirrors of other holes. 1 and 10. 2 and 11. 3 and 4. Great greens, fun and challenging course that should be in great condition by end of spring.
Best greens in middle tennessee
Great layout, in great shape. Without a doubt the best rolling greens I’ve played in the area.
