Tanglewood Club

One of the nicest layouts in the area. Challenging tee shots but very fair. My only complaint was the condition of the tee boxes. Extremely uncared for. Old divots that are deep and multiple, making it at time hard to find an even area for your stance. Scattered broken tees everywhere. Just really unnecessary. Why not a least place some sand buckets for the golfers to fill in their own divots if your maintenance crew is not doing anything about it. Also, the sand traps are rock filled and needs some work. The greens were great and the roll was true. I would be hesitant to come back in the heat of the summer months if this is the condition of the course after all the good weather for grass up to this point. That’s too bad too because again the layout was beautiful.

There are many elevation variations on the course and multiple risk-reward holes. Bunkers are rough with a lot of stone so be careful not to damage your clubs, but the weather has been very rainy this spring. I like the course and it’s a great place to go for a quick 9 holes after work.

I really enjoy the course, but this was the slowest round I’ve played in years

Front 9 pace was atrocious- 4-some refused to let us through until the turn- they were teeing from blues and were never in the fairway nor even close to 175-200 yard drives. They were averaging 20 minutes/hole. We played the back 9 in 1:15 with ease. The fairways were pretty torn up with massive “potholes” on several holes. Such a shame because the layout is spectacular. Greens were fair

This was a gorgeous course, with great terrain, water features, and enjoyable cart paths to drive on. The course was in great shape. It was very difficult, which was to be expected, but by no means impossible.

Need a starter, and a ranger, and greens and fairways could be a bit better, just need some TLC.

Great layout, but course had numerous bare spots. Pace of play could have been better.

Conditions were pretty good for this time of year. I enjoy the layout here and 4.5 hours for a Saturday wasn’t bad. I will likely play there again this year.

Overall very nice course just played it when it was too wet

This has an excellent layout that is simply not being maintained. It could simply be that it is not getting enough play. This could be one of the top courses in the area if it can be brought back to its original self.

Unfortunately courses like Tanglewood are in a Catch 22 of sorts. It is a great layout and challenges even the advanced player with fairway traps, well trapped greens and tight fairways. The problem is challenging course like this don't appeal to a enough players, beyond one round, as too many favor easier courses. The reduced activity limits the amount of funds to maintain the course to its prior greatness. This is a course that held a professional tournament in its past, so it must have been immaculate conditions to match its great layout. With minimal investment it could be on par with Boulder Creek.

Tanglewood is always a favorite.

The course was pretty soaked from previous night rain but overall course was in nice shape, especially for being so early in the season.

COURSE NEEDS A LITTLE TLC. LOTS OF LOW SPOTS IN FAIRWAYS NEEDING FILLED. TEE BOXES NEED SEEDED.

Course still needs more time to get into golf shape...greens, bunkers, drainage all still need some attention...

If you catch a cheap price then play it right now, then play it, if not, I would wait until a little later on in the season.
