Wrong Target Market
I've played this course a few times now after joining a men's golf league. The vast majority of bunkers are hard and extremely rocky. It's a death sentence to find your ball in one of those puppies. Greens are a bit slow for my liking, fairways are a bit long, rough is not mown evenly. Details. So the course is in rough shape, but it's on the upswing. Bunkers are in the process of being replaced which is a much needed change. Not sure what else is in store for the course. So the course has issues, but they aren't deal breakers for me. I love the sport and I'll play anywhere. The only problem is the price. It's too expensive. I'm an avid golfer and have no problem paying similar prices for much nicer courses. But I can't justify paying $54 to play 18 holes here. I'd gladly pay the $8 more to go play Fowler's Mill. The course is relatively easy, so it's a good track for newer players. Newer players don't want to spend that kind of money.
Course has fun/challenging holes and very decent conditions
Greens were in excellent condition. The fairways were in very good condition. Tee boxes were average but will improve with some rain. The staff was very friendly and professional. Highly recommend this course!
Good Bones Just Needs Some Love
The course has had its ups and downs over the last few years. It is on the upswing it seems but for the price ($55.00) it just doesn't seem worth it right now. First, most of the bunkers on the course are GUR or should be. Second, the greens were incredibly slow. Third, the pace of play was almost 4.5 hours and I never saw a ranger. I love golf and love to see courses thrive but I have to be honest that this is a stay away for the price and what you get right now. Hopefully, this will change in the future.
Rough way up!
The course condition is "rough" to say the least:
1. The rough is way up and the clover is in full bloom.
2. Fairways are ok, cut be cut tighter and bare spots from drainage issues abound.
3. The bunkers are beyond hazards, they are mostly bare and really unplayable.
4. Greens were slow and bumpy.
Bottom line, this course needs some serious money put into the maintinence.
Not even remotely worth paying $53, more like a $25 fee would be appropriate.
Great Track !!!!
Play this course a couple of times a year. When we played this time the course was wet due to all of the rain we've had today and all week. Greens were aerated and the traps were just starting to get new sand. The course was still playable and will be in great condition in the near future. The staff here is very nice and enjoy talking to them. The clubhouse is starting to look nice again and had I think four televisions with different programs on them. Love playing here and will be back again a couple more times this year.
Much better
After a previous poor review of Tanglewood. It seems new management has come in and sand has been put back in the bunkers and a new set of cups and flags have been bought. Simple things that really clean up a course. And the overall condition of the course has greatly improved.
Early Golf
Fairways were below average and traps were awful . Greens were in pretty good shape. Early in the year needs a lot of work. Like the layout if they if they get some maintenance done when the weather breaks I would go back and play this course
Great Track
This is a fun and challenging course. Been a couple years, I forgot how good a layout this is. Every hole is engaging and for the most part, challenging. Not overly difficult or easy. This course can play 7200 from the tips if you're a good player. Early spring greens were slow but true, showing potential for a lot more speed once cut. Great reasonable go-to course.
Beautiful course
This is a really nice course. Very clean, considering there are trees everywhere. This course offers a little of everything: sand, water, undulation, forced carries, elevated tees/greens. Definitely worth it.
great fall golf
course in very good shape - no plans to aerate greens- great deals available
Poor Course Conditions
Front 9 of course was in great shape overall but standing water on greens after 3 weeks of dry heat and one nights moderate rain at best. Back 9 was so unplayable that scores were impossible to keep low. As a sub 10 handicap going out the back 9 at 48 with great shots is ridiculous. Front 9 was much better for the most part except for a few wet spots like #2 and #9 greens. Bunkers on the whole course were washed out and hard as a rock because it was full of rocks and gravel. Overall not happy with Tanglewood at the moment
Course is in Disrepair
It is sad to see how this once beautiful course has deteriorated. There are rocks and ruts in the sand traps, and where there aren't rocks the sand is almost as hard as a rock. The fairways have significant areas where the ground should be marked under repair. Some areas dry as a bone, other areas wet enough that ball plugged, after a very dry week. We drove into an area where there are trees (not dense) to look for a ball, and it was so rutty we had to back out. The greens are generally OK, but on one green there was a foot in diameter hole. Take your cart over bridges crossing ravines at risk. So sad.
Eh.
Tanglewood has great potential. But it just doesn't live up to it. The clubhouse proshop needs a little repair and to stop flooding. Along with the course itself. One thing I noticed was that everyone who works at Tanglewood seems to always be in a bad mood. Everyone. The cart boys to the head of pro shop to the ground crew. It's just not that friendly. Some of the staff are just plain rude by cutting you off mid sentence
Very Rough for a Country Club Type Course
Fairways looked beat, greens OK but not as smooth as they should be. Tee boxes were cement. For the price you pay, it should be in much better shape!
Underwhelming
The facilities and surroundings are great and extremely well kept. Unfortunately the course is not in the condition it was a few years ago. 75% of the fairways either had mud pits or craters in the middle of them, and the cart paths were filled with potholes and huge puddles. Unfortunately a course that was great in the past, is not a place you want to play anymore. 2 stars at best.
Great course!
We teed off at 11:55 and finished at 3. It was in great shape and it was great to see the maintenance crew out there repairing some of the washed out areas. The greens were smooth and quick and the rest of the course was very nice as well. Can't thank the staff out there enough for the hospitality and all of their hard work!
Average track
I've heard so much hype about this course so I had to play it. Overall it was just average. I played from tips so the tee boxes were nice. A few of them were uneven and was having work done to them but overall nice tee boxes. They suffered some damage on a few fairways and I even lost a ball on 10 that I hit in the middle of the fairway. The bunkers were in terrible shape. They had large rocks mixed in the sand and one green side bunker was all rock. The greens rolled nice. They were quick and cut short.
Overall I recommend this course but it won't be one of my go-to tracks. I will play it again if given the opportunity.
Times Change
Not what it used to be. Very evident that they are not putting any money into course. Traps un-raked, water and grass clippings in fairways. Bridge out for what looks to have been all season. Nice track, bad up keep.
Beautiful Course but a bit confusing
Tanglewood is an extremely beautiful course right off a lake that plays into effect on some holes. Fun to play as well. The only issue was the cart paths and tees. The cart paths all connect at many different spots and there are no signs on the tee box's for which hole you are on so at sometimes it's confusing if you are even teeing off on the right hole. Other than that confusion it was a great time and I will most likely play there again.
