nice course, don't be in a hurry
10 hdcp, lifelong golfer, retired full time rv person now....The course was interesting enough and fun to play, and conditions were very good for mid Jan. But we teed off 11am on a Friday and had to play a 4 hr,50 minute round......it's a nice course but too many social golfers for me, laughing drinking and slowly moving around on the course. An early teetime may solve that issue, but bring your own yardage device, random distances posted occasionally in fairway, hole flags mostly faded so little depth indication, no pictures of hole on tee box and scorecard just shows general directions.
First Time on Course
First time playing at Atascocita. Paired with someone who was familiar with course which helped.
Check for Cartpath Only
Not a good time to review because it was cartpath only. It takes about 4 to 5 days to dry out after a rain. It was alright if you have good legs. Old farts should stay away if limping or have COPD. Will still go maybe 4 days after rain. That’s life.
Good course, great staff
Pace of play was a little rushed, but the course was challenging and well maintained. Clubhouse staff and Marshall were great. 1st time playing this course. Great day on the course!!
Good Course-Too Wet
This course would be much better to play on if the sprinklers weren't drenching the grounds as players are on the course. I'm not a grounds keeper, but it seems like auto timers on the sprinkler system, that came on a few hours before the first tee time, would reduce the sloppy mess & water puddles we have to walk through. Also, it would be nice to see water stations back on the course, since all other Covid measures have been removed. (masks, flag pole & bunker rake access) Greens were in good condition, other than too wet from sprinklers. A roving Marshall would be a nice addition, to keep the large groups moving.
Former home of All American Classic
Atascocita has always been a favorite track….but the work they have done to Bing it back” has worked…Loved playing there today.
Did not play my round!!!
I checked in and hit range balls and got to the tee box @ 11:20 my tee time and was told that I was paired with another 2some and had to wait. No one on the fairway or green of #1. After 10 minutes or so waiting and no carts approaching in sight I was also explained to the reason being single approaching big groups tend to rush them. Also told a decent timed round was not possible due to big groups ahead. I guess fast play and good golf manners are nonexistent now.
I’ve played the course many times and love the hospitality and shape the course is in which is the reason I didn’t mind driving 45+ minutes to play. I feel the starter could’ve handled the situation a little differently. Now I’m out of the $$ for the round and gas to get there and back.
Today's holes were good. I would like to play Shore.
Overall I have always enjoyed playing Atascocita. I have friends and family who live near by. I sometimes join my friends for 18 holes and or practice....Pinehurst and Point however are nice and I've played them on several occasions., including today.
Disappointing Day
We play this course fairly regularly. Today the pace was glacial. No Marshall intervention to pick up speed. There was no cart service or water on the course. And no notification that there was neither. Needless to say we left parched and hangry after a 4.5 hour round.
Enjoyed playing the Big A
Played the point to Shores rotation. The starter was a great guy and asked if the singles did not mind pairing up. Actually 3 singles. The course was in really good shape but the rough was a little high and a few leaves slowed us down to find errant shots, The greens were in nice shape rolling around an 8-9 speed. the Beverage cart made it by us at least 4-5 times. All in all a good day on the Big A.
