It's ok
They have 3, 9 hole courses... so the gentlemen in the pro shop tell you where to play. I wasn't positive where I was taking my cart and where to start, that was slightly confusing (they could use some signs). The course was in good shape but there was a lot of traffic for being a Tuesday. I enjoyed myself and would there again. I just prefer playing by myself without a lot of congestion on the course. I feel more relaxed when I can take my time. Thank you ... over all. 7 out of 10!
Getting better
The course is improving after the hurricane and the greens are drying nicely. Still has work to be done with the tee boxes, but will continue to play as time moves forward.
Members will not let you through as a 2 some playing behind a 5 some... Heck no never again...
Course was in good shape
The course was in good shape, except for a few of the greens were rough. I got stuck behind slower players on the back nine & unfortunately they weren’t noticing me waiting behind them on several holes. I never saw a marshal come by.
Sunday Funday
For a Sunday at noon, we were pleasantly surprised that the course was not crowded. Course was in great shape and the beer cart was on point.
Atasscocita - 1
Course was still wet in a several places from effects of Harvey. Greens need work but overall layout was good challenge
Conditions improving
Greens need help on both the Point & Pinehurst. Fairways are decent but the second cut of rough is twice the length it should be. Very friendly staff, but limited amenities
Skip it.
The greens fee for a Saturday should have tipped us off about what to expect. While the staff was very friendly and welcoming to our group which had never played here previously, that really doesn't impact the play. Many tee boxes were too wet to play. Most looked like they were selected by someone who said: "Hey, this looks like a good spot. Just mow the grass shorter right here in a rectangle." The best parts about the course were the fairways and bunkers which were reasonably maintained. Tee boxes were loaded with weeds, not that it impacts play, it is just an appearance issue. The greens were very soft and receptive to approach shots, but good luck getting to them in regulation. And when you do, they are really SLOW. They were the slowest I have played in years. They also have serious scars (area of no grass) and lots of weeds. Covering the scars with green die (as they have) doesn't make them play better. Putts consistently bounced there way toward the hole. This is not conducive to accurate putting.
Hitting the fairway is not just a premium, it is a must. The bermuda rough is 2 to 3 inches deep, and IF you can find your ball in it, it is very penalizing. You will not advance your ball as far you would need to get to the green in regulation. I found half a dozen balls just lying in the rough along the course that other golfers had lost. The rough must really impact pace of play at this course, as I find it hard to believe the average golfer consistently stays out of the rough. Our threesome (including one high handicap female) finished in 3 and 1/4 hours, but we had no one in front of us. I almost offered to allow the twosome behind us at the first tee to play first so we wouldn't hold them up. I'm glad I didn't. By the time we finished, they were no where in site behind us. The rough around the greens is equally difficult. The condition of the rough simply is too penal for the average golfer, and I have to believe it substantially impacts the pace of play. I'm glad it didn't impact us, because WE HATE slow play. Too bad the conditions weren't better, I liked the layout well enough, but not enough to make up for the poor conditions. We won't be going back.
nice come back
was told this course had been closed for a few years, it looked good, played well
I enjoyed it very nice layout quiet peaceful well-groomed I'll be back
Cart path only greens are good
It was the day after a heavy rain so the fairways was very wet (cart path only) but I was pleasantly surprised how good the greens rolled. I had nobody in front or behind me to slow me down or rush me and I completed my round in 3 hours (solo). I got a chance to work on mt tee shoots and hope I can repeat what I've learned.
Tee Time
Man the weather was great and a great day for golf... It seems lot's of folks had the same idea... Some kind of way the front 9 played smoothly but the back 9 caught a log jam... The only real problem I had was my golf cart stopped on me about 3 or 4 times on the front 9 and I had to get a replacement cart.
Good Challenge
This course offers 27 holes. But, it seems like every time I play it's the same 18. Pace of play is good, although there is no regard to course etiquette for the single player in front of me. The Marshall should enforce equally including members.
EXCELLENT CONDITION
IN GREAT SHAPE CONSIDERING THE MOST RECENT WEATHER CONDITIONS
Stay on the fairway
I enjoy playing this course, price is great and the course is a challenge.
The only draw back is the grass cut just off the fairway is to high and if your in it you have to stand directly over your ball to see it.
I will continue to play at this course.
GRUMPY SENIORS/Nice course condition
My wife & I were playing behind a slower couple and we had to wait a reasonable amount of time on several holes. There was a (senior) group of 4 behind us that in turn had to wait for us. Apparently the foursome behind us believed their club membership afforded them the right to call the clubhouse, complain about having to wait & send the marshal out to hold us up & let them play through on the second nine. We had to wait 8 mins for them to arrive & also had to wait for them to finish on 6 of the next 9 holes. I describe all this to say, that when I'm in my older senior years, I hope I'm not cantankerous, impatient & entitled like these guys that give nice senior golfers a bad name. Even though he was wrong, the marshal was friendly,. He admitted they were members, but said that had nothing to do with letting a foursome pass a couple. Yea right!! He did refer to them as AssHats & that was appropriate. Besides dealing with the 4 Grumpy Old Men, the course was in good shape & we had fun.
