Won’t play again
I play a lot of golf, like a lot of golf. I’ve been to just about every public course in Houston, this is by far the worst value for your money. Fairways were long/patchy/dry , greens were hairy and slow, no water every so often like most courses. The pace of play atrocious. They are more worried about who’s driving the golf carts than cutting the grass or providing water for the golfers.
80 dollars for a course like this is highway robbery. Could not recommend NOT going to this course enough.
Great Course, But No Water on the Course
I played Atascocita Golf Club on Saturday around 11 a.m. The pro shop was nice, staff were friendly, and the practice facilities with complimentary range balls were a great touch. The course itself was in good condition and enjoyable to play.
However, there were no water stations on the course, which was a serious issue given the 90+ degree heat and high UV index. Most courses provide water, and not having any available made the round uncomfortable and unsafe. I had to rely on purchasing drinks from the cart throughout the round.
While the facilities and staff were excellent, I won’t be returning due to the lack of water stations, which I consider a basic necessity for player safety and comfort.
Love Atascocita Golf Club!
Just Love the layout and the people that run it as a former member 25 yrs ago. They have 3 different 9s that can be rotated for maintenance or projects which keeps the course fresh and well manicured. Greens on the Shores were being redone so we played the Point and Pinehurst which are next on the green reconstruction schedule after the Shores are done. It is an incredible value for $35 on a long time Golf Staple for the Metro and Lake Houston Area!
This is my go-to home course
You can find good hot deals for this course. Right now the greens need a lot of help but fairway and 1st cut of roughs are in fairly good condition. I really like the layout of the course and how they change it up so you’re not always playing the same 2 courses. There’s 3 9 hole courses here. I will continue coming back, but definitely looking for improved greens.
Not worth the money
Course conditions were ok, for all the rain that had fallen. Yet, no where did it mention that the greens had been aerified and price did not reflect this. If this would have been upfront, it would have been palatable.
Aerated greens
They need to tell you when the greens have been punched. At least reduce the price as well. Terrible experience.
Could be better
Course layout is good, but some greens were in bad shape. Not sure why, we have had plenty of rain to keep them green. Not a fan of them temporary green on Shores #1. No drinking water on course and no ball washers. Other courses in this price range are in excellent shape right now. And have ball washers and drinking water available to the players. Could be better.
Great Bang for Buck
This course is very well kept and managed for a public course at this price point. The staff is always friendly and considerate, while the course is kept in pretty good shape the few times I’ve been there. Enjoying playing it.
Not bad
The layout is solid—some fun holes and a good overall design that makes for an enjoyable round. Staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming, which added a nice touch to the experience.
That said, course conditions left a lot to be desired. Fairways and greens weren’t in great shape, and the maintenance overall felt neglected. The bathrooms were rough—looked and smelled more like a truck stop than a golf facility. Pro shop was functional but nothing special.
For $70, I expected better. It’s not a terrible course, and I’d consider playing it again if the price dropped or conditions improved. Right now, it feels overpriced for what you get.
