Monte Cristo Golf & Country Club
About
Until the new Los Lagos club opened recently, Monte Cristo, previously known as Palacio, was the only 18-hole course in Edinburg. The name of the game here is dealing with the wind, which seems to always blow from the Gulf and makes the course much more difficult.
Getting there : Exit Monte Cristo off 281 south, then turn left and drive 2.5 miles to the course.

Reminds me of old municipal course
This corse and layout is like playing golf on municipal courses in the 1950 s. The course is short and fairways ample. The greens are good but tend to be a tad slow. Good course for seniors and great price.
Monte Cristo
The course is basically in good shape. Just needs a little TLC
Great course!
Fun course and challenging. Always an awesome value. Great greens and well kept.
Good deal but not in the best shape anymore
Good price if you book online with a midday tee time. Pace of play is good as it’s usually not real busy but things are shaggy on the course and starting to get run down. If you play after it rains bring lots of bug spray the mosquitoes are ferocious!
I'll be back
Pleasant experience from tee to green. Tee boxes all have nice grass and easy to get tee in the ground which may not mean much to you but we need hammer and nail at our course to get the process started. All the fairways had nice grass and the greens were excellent. I even checked on membership and their rates beat my course by quite a bit giving it serious consideration. I think all negative reviews have a direct reflection on the skill sets because this is not necessarily an easy golf course to play visually it is very tight but more room than meets the eye. Fun Course to play.
My favorite course
This course is always in great condition with good pace of play.
Good for the money
You get what you pay for and this is no different. I didn't expect a lot for 18 holes w/ a cart at $24. One of the staff was downright rude, but aside from that there wasn't any other issue with the staff. The course is good for beginners or anyone looking to get a cheap round of golf in.
Bring your A game
Since this is the only course open in the area it had to do. The fairway grass is very-very short so picking the ball with the club is a must. The greens were pretty good, just slow. Most likely to save them due to the heat.
