Monte Cristo Golf & Country Club
About
Until the new Los Lagos club opened recently, Monte Cristo, previously known as Palacio, was the only 18-hole course in Edinburg. The name of the game here is dealing with the wind, which seems to always blow from the Gulf and makes the course much more difficult.
Getting there : Exit Monte Cristo off 281 south, then turn left and drive 2.5 miles to the course.

Good for all
Was a good place for any golfer as lots of variety on holes but no sand traps as all were grassed over
Great experience
The course is in good condition year round, Great greens, Narrow fairways but is not a long golf course from middle tees.
Quality Course
I've played the course several times and have enjoyed each outing. On this occasion it was less than a week out from a devistating torrential downpour that saw about 14 inches of rain fall in a 24 hour period. Surprisingly, the course was in very good condition and the ball on occasion had to be lifted and cleaned. Other than that there was no difficulty with mosquitoes in the 97° heat, or water drainage issues. On this occasion though the greens we're a little hard to putt with the roll remaining true the entire length but probably was due to the fact that the greens mower may not have been able to be set or even used in it's normal fashion. I booked this round a little more than an hour before tee time but had no difficulty at the pro shop or accessibility to the first tee box. All in all enjoyed it very much..
Nice course
I like this course because of the layout..If you can shoot rather straight, you won't have a problem here..course is in beautiful shape....
Great layout
Problem we had was there was a tournament with 180 players, the pro said the course was suppose to be closed for the day and golf now was told this . The pro let us on the course one hour after the tee time we had scheduled from you.
Very well taken care of
