Monte Cristo Golf & Country Club
About
Until the new Los Lagos club opened recently, Monte Cristo, previously known as Palacio, was the only 18-hole course in Edinburg. The name of the game here is dealing with the wind, which seems to always blow from the Gulf and makes the course much more difficult.
Getting there : Exit Monte Cristo off 281 south, then turn left and drive 2.5 miles to the course.

Over book d
Upon arrival were told a tournament was booked on the front nine did complete it before it started but coming around they had other foursomes starting on 10 which really backed things up they’re have no preference to the people coming off the front nine this is the second time we experienced a bad round at this course very disappointing again not sure why golf now recommends this course
C
Pretty fair conditions
Greens and fairways are in pretty good condition but some of the tee boxes need to be leveled off a little
Nice course
Played this course for the first time on Jan 22. Enjoyed the round, good course for the price.
First Time for Everything
First time I’ve seen this in 35+ years of playing golf, the course didn’t have enough golf carts to service after 11:30 tee times.
Showed up 1/2 hr. early for our tee time, had to wait almost an hour after our tee time, for golf carts to be returned into the shop so we’d have a cart to play, that we prepaid for.
No refund offer. Staff was not friendly, didn’t care if they inconvenienced us or not.
Wouldn’t recommend this course, even at a discount.
Good Deal
At GolfNow’s price, this is a great deal. The course is open with minimal difficulties. The greens are in great condition! They are fast and true! You’ll get your monies worth.
Over booked
Over hour late on tee off , course said it was golf now’s Problem not sure who is to blame some people are saying that the golf course is over booking . Not Happy !!! Will never recommend
Course fits my eye
If you hit pretty straight or have a little draw to the right, this course works well for that.
Monte Cristo
Fun, short and challenging golf course. Monte Cristo has one of the best and consistent fairways plus greens in the Rio Grand Valley.
Fun
Although the weather conditions were a little cooler than we thought they would be, we had a good time playing. Greens weren’t quite as fast as they were last year but still fairly smooth. We intend to return during are winter stay here in Texas.
Good for all
Was a good place for any golfer as lots of variety on holes but no sand traps as all were grassed over
