Until the new Los Lagos club opened recently, Monte Cristo, previously known as Palacio, was the only 18-hole course in Edinburg. The name of the game here is dealing with the wind, which seems to always blow from the Gulf and makes the course much more difficult.
Getting there : Exit Monte Cristo off 281 south, then turn left and drive 2.5 miles to the course.

Great Time
I took advantage of a special price early in the morning on a week day. There were only a few golfers out this early although it began to fill up later. Pace of play was easy and relaxing. Weather here in South Texas is wonderful. It is early December and although it was a bit overcast the temperature was in the low seventies and not too humid. The course was in very good shape. Iron shots were easy to hit off of thick, smooth fairways, and the greens were smooth and well paced. It was an enjoyable experience for me and my playing partner. Staff was friendly and quick to get us out on the course.
Good round of golf
Golf course is a little confusing course is in good shape I was there on a Saturday morning nobody in the pro shop at 7 am? My buddy and I were the only folks on the course, greens are excellent. Lots of homes line the first 5 holes, be careful. Would play again. All sand removed from bunkers replaced with thick grass?
Great challengening course
Excellent course, I enjoyed playing there. Greens are in excellent shape. Worth the money.

Course played well. Provided some obstacles that created chalanges. Course seems to have been designed with wind flows in mind. The wind makes you rethink club selection from tee to green.

This course is well maintained and ranks up there in quality with other elite courses in the Rio Grande Valley.
