Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

Horrible
Course is in horrible shape! Fairways are just regular grass, weeds. When they cut the fairways, they do not bag the grass, they leave it on the fairways!!
Multiple fairways have been destroyed by wild boars, and they just leave it that way!
Do not waste your money on playing this course!
Worst course ever!
I travel all over this country, and play different courses several times a month!
This is absolutely the worst course I have ever played. It seems they have just given up on doing any maintenance.
Several fairways are absolutely destroyed on the back 9, and nothing being done about it!!
Unkempt
Everything was overgrown and rundown. I've been to this course before and it wasn't bad. But it's just as expensive as other courses in the area now and it has not been kept up with anymore. If you miss the fairway by 3 feet, the grass is so high and out of control that you will have to search for 10 minutes just to find your ball. The sand traps are unplayable. They are overgrown with weeds and have very little sand left in them. This course is nowhere near the price being asked. If it was $15 to play a round, I wouldn't mind. But this place has really gone downhill in a hurry.
Like playing in a cow pasture.
To start with, because they claim to have a nice restaurant, we didn’t bring anything to eat or drink, other than cups with water and ice. The fairways do have grass but not mowed and like a cow pasture. If you don’t keep your ball in the fairways, forget about finding it. My partner lost over a dozen balls. Even in the fairways they are hard to find. They do water the greens so in pretty good shape. Don’t think you’re going to get a true roll though because they’re long and slow. It would be a great course if maintained. Needs a lot of $$$ and TLC for that to happen.
Even at the $25 rate we would not play again.
Hot deals might be worth it
I would never pay “full price” to play a course like this. However, if you can get on for maybe 20 dollars, it might be sort of worth it. The course was infested with mosquitoes. We were sweating off hundreds of swarms any time we stopped the cart. The staff seemed to know and jokingly said to us “we hope you brought bug spray”. Some of the tee boxes were almost bunkers. The “bunkers” are HARD packed sand and have huge weeds growing in them. You will rarely even know that you are looking at or standing in a bunker unless they are green side bunkers. In that case they have still standing water covering the entire green side bunkers. Not playable out of the bunkers. The greens are decent, but they are extremely grainy and slow, especially if it had recently rained. The fairways have gigantic weeds growing in the middle and all around them. There is no telling if you are in the rough or the fairway. It all blends together. You’ll have 3-4 different types of grass within 20 feet. All in all I payed 40 bucks with a hot deal and a coupon on top of that. Definitely wasn’t worth the price of the round or the gas to get all the way out there.
Horrible
Fairway had grass 2’ tall
Tee boxes rough
Greens pretty good shape
Way too much money for conditions. You could not pay me me to play here again! Get a grounds keeper!!!
Nice course nasty restroom and grill .
Course was in great shape! Not sure why the restrooms are so nasty and smell awfully. They really need to clean them .They should fire who ever is in charge !!!
Goat track
This course is in terrible condition, greens are super slow and soft. Fairways mostly dirt and don’t hold a golf ball.
The course layout is great.
The course layout is great. The upkeep could have been better. But most likely caused to heavy rain the days before I played. I will for sure be back as the course has some challenging holes. The staff was one of the most friendliness I have been associated with.
Course is a steal!
Staff was very friendly! Course was in good shape. Place of play was great. Course is beginner friendly but offers some challenges to more experienced golfers. Would definitely play here again!
