Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

Gimmick Goat Track
Do not waste your time even considering this “Resort”, nothing about it constitutes that title. How this course has a 4/5 star rating leads me to believe that not only the homeless walking around the course are smoking crack, but also the people who have rated it more than 1 star. The clubhouse looks and smells like it was built in the 60s with no upgrades or repairs done since then. The bathrooms are disgusting and the staff was all lounged around and offered no help with checking in or directions for the property.
Warming up - the range look like someone’s poorly manicured backyard with no real features to mention. The range balls are all waterlogged and cut balls that are not worth hitting. They would be better off buying refurbished/reloaded balls from Walmart for their range. The practice green while small, was sufficient sized to roll some putts. However, the poanna was so badly overgrown on the practice green, you could not possibly roll a putt on a real line if your life depended on it.
Course play - The tee boxes were are the nicest part of the entire course…. again, not saying much at all. The fairways and rough hardly had any distinction and both were either muddy and drenched, or hard as a rock and unplayable. There were no well maintained areas of play with grass. The bunkers had standing water in all of them and it has not rained in the area for weeks. While I’d like to say the greens were like the practice green, they were far from it in the worst way. 3/9 first nine holes had standing water on the green and in the cups. All of the front nine greens were completely overgrown with poanna, to the point of being unputtable. There were tire tracks and massive areas on every green that were completely destroyed and unplayable.
I left after 9 holes because of how terrible the course conditions were and I would strongly recommend anyone considering this course, to play literally anywhere else, including a dump or your local park. You would be much better off and probably have a more enjoyable time. I can’t believe they are charging people money to play this course in good conscience. This course should be shut down and overhauled…. AGAIN.
We enjoyed thank you!
We had a good time from the Pro Shop meeting the Rep there to the time we left. A lot of humble people there along the course. Everyone was courteous. We had no problems during our time there at Red Wolf Golf Resort. Definitely kid friendly, thank you. There are some beautiful views on back 9 don’t miss out on those! I do recommend them to stock up on some items for the pro shop for purchase. I would’ve loved to have a few Red Wolf Logo Balls for my Son and I for our collection. Thanks to the Pro Shop Rep for the great first impression we will be back.
Disappointed Poa annua disaster.
Played course many times prior. I knew something was wrong when the parking lot was empty. This course is normally better than most. The local kids have taken over cutting donuts in the fairway and four wheelers cutting across the greens. The poa annua has taken over most of the greens ball bounces like it’s a basketball court. Will not return here till late summer maybe?
Hog Chow
The back nine was all but devoured b the hogs. The fairways looked like moon craters and reeked of wild hogs. The cart girl had no ice, and limited selection. She served out of two ice chest instead of a normal food and beverage cart.
Horrible
Course is in horrible shape! Fairways are just regular grass, weeds. When they cut the fairways, they do not bag the grass, they leave it on the fairways!!
Multiple fairways have been destroyed by wild boars, and they just leave it that way!
Do not waste your money on playing this course!
Worst course ever!
I travel all over this country, and play different courses several times a month!
This is absolutely the worst course I have ever played. It seems they have just given up on doing any maintenance.
Several fairways are absolutely destroyed on the back 9, and nothing being done about it!!
