Disaster
Greens in horrible shape. So bad the course should not be open. I could find no drinking water on the course. I suspect this business won't last past November
Maybe one day, potential there for sure
Pros:
-Pace of play is phenomenal ( I played 18 in 2 hours) and this can't be understated as Austin golf is terribly slow.
-Pro Shop incredibly friendly - it's a lean operation and there's not a lot of frills but really nice people
-Good view of the hill country and literally hundreds of deer
Cons:
-It's out there. GolfNow and other golf course locators give you distance from your current location as the crow flies - this is a full hour from downtown Austin with limited traffic because of the route you need to take.
-It's a bit wild - as it's in redevelopment stage, tee boxes are under-watered (you can't put a tee in the ground), there's no water boxes, ball-washers, sand buckets, etc.
-Fairway is rock hard and in some holes the rough is nicer than the fairway
-Sand traps are completely under repair
-Every hole is a blind shot - you can't see greens anywhere
-The holes are newly mapped out and your golf GPSes and applications only have the old course mapped so it's impossible to know where you're going. I lost multiple straight shots just because I had no idea the distances and holes would bend hard left or right.
-Greens are slow
-one or two holes need a driver, the rest are iron holes
Course in rebuilding mode
The course has been a round a while has been dormant for a while it’s been repurchased and in rebuilding mode. There are a lot of deer on the course one hole I counted 7 bucks and 10 doe a long with Bambi’s . Definitely a Texas Hill golf course.
Beautiful views
You can’t beat the views of Lake Travis from nearly every hole. The course was previously owned by city of Lago Vista and not well maintained up until it closed in October of 2017. Now the new owners are working diligently to bring it up to a high standard.. Let’s give it a chance and not act like a golf diva. I play the course 2 to 3 times a week (and I have played from St. Andrews to Ruidoso and lots in between) and find it a challenging course worth supporting.

RIP OFF
This is the worst golf course I've ever seen! The green was in terrible shape. The course wasn't designed for first timers, easily get lost. Luckily I arrived with my friend 2 hours before tee time to check it out, and able to cancel the reservation. However, I'm disappointed in Golf Now for promoting this deal, especially the value of the tee time isn't good. For example, my friend and I booked the tee time at AVERY, for the same value, and they have restaurant service, beautiful environment, the green are actually taken care of for that same value. Are you serious?! I want to be able to play at course where I can see how much I've improved, how much my putting has improved. This course doesn't give that experience to anyone AT ALL. I want my money back immediately.
I used to belong when it was Highland Lakes. Course still in very ruff condition. To make it good they will have to pour a lot of money to get things right.
Course wasn’t bad. They are putting money in it . Will be very good.
Disappointed
The fairways where alright but that’s it . Tee boxes need mowed tall weeds where growing on them. All bunkers where unplayable no sand at all, full of rocks and grass / weeds where growing in them all . The greens on at less 7 holes had dead areas or areas where they needed to be place with ground under repair and Roped off for the betterment of the coarse and play .. Three greens I remember to be in real bad shape. I am d the friend I took where in disbelief that the price to play this coarse was 40.00 and that was a reduce price through Golfnow. And to have this coarse rated at above two and a half stars or three at best is unbelievable to me. I understand I might have not seen it at its best playing condition but with the bunkers in the shape their in . The high grass on the tee boxes for a weekend , and the coarse as a hole needing mowed ruff / weeds and the poor shape of the greens. I am highly disappointed this is not reclassified on the rankings list prior to the purchase I made.
We Just reopened and are getting the course back in amazing shape. Bunker renovation will be soon and weeds are going away slowly with the pre emergence we have put down.
On it's way up.
The course has recently reopened under private management and is on it's way to being n exceptional track.. The fairways are 100% better than they were when it was opened by the city of Lago Vista. The green are for the most part in very good condition considering they were left unattended. A few has issues but were assured they will be back by the end of the year. The bunkers are being reworked in the next few weeks and once these are addressed, the course will be definitely heading in the right direction. The nines were flipped which makes the finishing holes much better. I would recommend this course so anyone that played Highland Lakes back before 2017 can see the significant changes being made
Very nice and challenging course. Definitely going to have to hit them straight here, tight fairways and a few blind spots you have to hit to a certain spot because it’s so hilly, greens on the front just a need a little more work but besides that it’s a great golf course, the more people play the more the course can improve
Goat Pasture
The courselay dormant for at least a couple of years. Now, an investor has shown up with big plans to turn the place around. I hope they succeed - i doubt that they will.
The layout is shaky to begin with. They need evey bunker replaced (which I am told is in the works. The greens and tee boxes are very, very poor. Weeds and crab grass riddle the fairways. Cart paths are crumbling.
All in all, this is a real goat pasture.
Time will tell if these new owners can turn the place around but it is seriously doubtful.
We will fix all the issues you've talked about in this review in due time. The course has been closed for two years and step by step we will turn this course into a gem. We hope you continue to come out and see our progress.
Desk staff very friendly, course starter friendly as well
and offered free water....nice!!!
great course I will be back.
Stevek
Traps are unplayable and some greens have large spots of dead grass. But.. course is in a lot better shape than we expected after two years closed. Hope the new owners keep up the good work they have started. Will continue to book here .
Amazing views of Hill Country and Lake Travis
Great course layout, front side greens spotty but roll well, back nine greens in excellent condition. They provided a free GPS service with a flyover feature for each hole that was pretty cool. This course has great potential and looks like it will only get better. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout the day.
Thank you for the 4 star review. The course is under new ownership and we are going to continue to grow and improve the course. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Fun course but room for improvement
The course layout is slightly challenging but overall a fun golf course. You get the true hill country experience here with mostly downhill shots and a few uphill shots. Greens are acceptable but are a little slow. The more people that play this course the more money they will have to improve their greens. Overall it’s a great experience and I recommend you give this course a shot.
Thank you for the 4 star review! Lake Travis Country Club is under new Ownership and we will continue to make improvements to the course. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Diamond in the rough
This place is going to be amazing soon. Go play now while it's juvenile. Greens are beat up on a few holes, But roll great. Bunkers are ugly, but are going to get fixed. Fairways are bumpy, but will fill in. Beautiful views. Great staff and exceptional value.
One step at a time.
Grass is only greener where you water it and They're watering the whole course!
Can't wait to go back.
Thank you for the 4 star review. Lake Travis Country Club is under new ownership and we are working hard to continue to improve the course. Thanks for the kind words and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Fun little challenging course
Not bad for a small hill country course. Greens were in great shape. Fairways are pretty poor, mixed grasses and not watered regularly. Tee boxes are hit or miss....some were good while others didn't have a level surface to hit from.
Pro Shop says they are closing down 10/1/2017
We have reopened and under new ownership. We are doing some big things out here come see our progress and try us again. Thanks Lake Travis CC Management

It's not extreme when paying $40 dollars for this type of condition. Like I said, I went to Avery Golf Club, for the same price... and got everything, including awesome experience to be able to assess my golf skills. This is my exact experience period.
So your saying you didn't even play the course and are issuing out a 1 star. That's a bit extreme. We are just getting back open and our course is a fun track with a lot of elevation changes and great views of the lake. We will continue to get better with our amenities and course conditions. We do have restaurant service and will soon have two restaurant options for our players. Try a course out before you knock it next time.
