No Maintanance
The city has obviously cut down on maintenance on this course, greens are horrible and fairways are not much better. If the course isn't properly maintained word of mouth will kill you!
Day out with son.
Bought a hot deal that gave me 18 holes, green fees, and a cart. Perfect price. Was really looking forward to playing with 7 yr. old son. When I was checking in at the pro shop, they said I was paired with someone and needed to pay for the cart to let my son ride. This was frustrating and dissapointing. Nowhere in the description online did it say I would be paired with someone or that I was buying half a cart! I paid for the extra cart because I didn't want to forfeit the money I had already prepaid through Golfnow. Very slow play, no Marshall keeping tabs on speed of play. Nice views of lake. Bad customer service.
Needs a lot of help
The temporary pro shop is really bad, re tee boxes are eaten up, fairways have patches, and the greens... just no. I understand that Bermuda grass on the greens are tough this time of year, but regardless they are not good right now at all. Great views though.
Golf ⛳️
The fairways were pretty rough greens were sanded and rolled don't know if this is normal for this time of year in Austin area
Golf
Course is extremely full of. DIfferent. Elevations .
Awesome day
This course is beautiful and other than the weekends, wide open. Easy to get a tee time and no slow play...excellent
Great course for the money
The course is in great shape for this time of year. I would definitely play it again. A few challenging holes with great scenery and more deer than I've ever seen in the woods. The staff was very friendly. The only down side was the clubhouse which is small and temporary.
Highland
It's always hard to check in as a single female & this experience was no different. Several men were in the pro shop...a few spoke but others did not. I was clearly in the minority but I'm very sure of myself so I didn't let it bother me. I definitely got the feeling they preferred men to play there. The course had some very challenging holes. I felt like I should be a mountain goat (VERY steep terrain) at times but it was fun! I managed to score a 97 & kept pace with the men.
Watch the mud-ball.
There is a large amount of deer skat around this course, and mud-balls aren't actually mud-balls. The deer look sick. It's sad, really. I can't expect the course to keep the deer healthy, but efforts should be made to have them kept away from the main areas of play.
The greens are patchy and overly hard, the benefit of which is there are few unrepaired ballmarks, nor do golfers need to repair their own. The surfaces do not roll true, and some of the holes are on such severe slopes that balls will end up farther away than whence you started.
The fairways are inconsistent, bumpy, and bare in places, making crisp shots hard to come by, though balls do run for some distance. If you're search is to hit a 400 yard drive, this is your runway. There are other times when it's hard to tell if your ball is in the fairway or rough due to the deer overgrowth of wild grasses in some areas.
The bunkers need tending to. The sand is fine but there are rocks the size of golf balls in all but a few.
The staff is in the clubhouse can be a bit rude, but the on-course staff is friendly enough. However, it is clear that the course shows signs of being uncared for, as if those with the charge don't want to bother.
It's a shame the course is in such a state because the layout is fun and unique, and I believe it could attract much business with a relatively small effort, but at this time it's not worth the rate and drive.
Enjoyed Elevation Changes
I usually play in fairly flat courses and enjoyed a lot of ups and downs here. I also like nice scenic view and wild life.
Greens are well maintained particularly in the front nine. Sure will come back.

Deer in Fairways Photo submitted by uek10899 on 11/27/2016
Fun time
Lot of fire ants.
Overall good condition.
Fairways could use a haircut.
Greens in great condition.
Great Layout, Horrible Conditions
This course has one of the most challenging layouts I have played and is very fun. On the other side, the conditions are the worst I have seen at a golf course. The cart path is pretty much non-existent and the fairways have weeds and are horribly maintained. If you are looking for a place that has some of the best views from a golf course and don't mind bad conditions then I would suggest it.
Thank you for your review. We are continuously striving to improve our conditions since this summer and hope that you will come back again, as we ensure we are working on the course daily!
Interesting layout but course seen better days
This is an interesting, hilly course with deer roming freely. Very peaceful and tranquil however is not in great shape. Main clubhouse is closed and there were not many people out playing. Greens are in decent condition but other parts of the course are a bit scratchy especially the bunkers. Alright if looking for a practise round and get a deal on the rate but difficult to recommend making the trip out of Austin for.
Thank you for reviewing our course, and we hoped you enjoyed the atmosphere while we are trying to improve our course conditions. We hope you'll make another trip to see us once they improve!
Stay away
Was planning to play 18, ended playing 9 and leaving. Pace of play is slow. Course conditions were not good. Cheap cheap cheap...
We're sorry you had a poor experience, but hope it won't deter you from giving us another try when our conditions improve! If you would like another round on us, please contact us at lagovistacourses@gmail.com.
Thank you.
Thank you for your review and feedback Charles! We have been doing a lot in the recent months to try to improve our conditions since this summer and appreciate you noticing those improvements on the greens!
