Greens are challenging and smooth. If you need exercise this is the place. Lots of wildlife...

We used to go out to both Highland and Lago courses, but since they raised the rates so high there is no real incentive to drive out there. I can book a round much closer to me for the same rate.

Until they lower the fees again, it may be some time before we head back out to either Lago course, very unfortunate.

Been a couple of years since we were in the area and had a chance to play here agsin. Love the layout, pace of play and the respect the gallery has towards golfers (local whitetail residents). Course could use a bit of TLC and like many now, really needs players to show up and support it. Give it a go.

The course is a little scraggly, but underneath some of the scruff is a pretty fun and interesting track. You'll likely be disappointed paying full price, but it's worth a play if you can snag a discount. Nice to see water back in the lake. Great views. Lots of deer.

The greens are in excellent shape .I was surprised that more people were not there...A excellent course for the money.......

Played this course on Sat. Labor Day weekend. We teed off at 2 and didn't see another group all day. When we got done we learned we were the last tee time of the day. The guys working the shop were real friendly. The course was in awful shape more weeds than grass including the fairways. I learned the history of the course and it used to be a private course and the city took it over some time ago. The lack of effort put into maintenance of the course is pathetic. I've played some not so nice golf courses in my 30 years swinging the clubs and I think this might be the worst course I have ever played. I wouldn't go back if it was free!

Just had a bunch of rain, so condition of a few holes were terrible, but that's to be expected. Love the course handbook, but they need to renumbered (hole 1 is actually hole 10). I like the layout of this course better than Lago Vista Golf Course, but LV is usually in better shape and they actually have amenities.

Fun and scenic layout is hurt by lack of water on fairways and tee boxes. A very dry summer hasn't done this course any favors. Greens were just sanded and aerated so it's unfair to judge them, but they have a lot of slope and look fun and challenging. I think in a wetter and cooler season, this course would be a real gem - hilly and scenic, but not too long and some really well designed holes. No amenities, but a good "country" golf feel. Bring your own good attitude and you'll have fun.

We played on Sunday and once we got through two groups of foursomes it was wide open. Nice layout, You pretty much only see the hole you are playing which is fun, but also challenging because there is no hope for a hacker like me to hit off another fairway! Bring some balls because when they are gone there's no hope unless you have a machete and like snakes. Lots of deer that like to play in the sand traps, pretty funny. Get to use all the clubs in the bag, lots of fun shots, and elevation changes. Will be back again for sure.

Course conditions were better than average for this time of year. Challenging and fun to play. Views of the lake and surrounding hill country are awesome. Would recommend you play a roundz

With the lake full the course is more majestic than ever. Challenges your golf game while offering a scereen environment.

the course conditions were great. The lake was very full and the views are really incredible and make even playing a difficult course enjoyable. There has been a lot of rain in the last month but the course showed very limited signs of damage. There were a few bunkers that are clearly marked as ground under repair. I'm sure that as the course dries out over the next few days it will be perfect playing conditions. Also you can get really good deals on golf now with prices as low as $10 if you're flexible on your time and day. I have played this course many times over the past 25 years and it is certainly playing in some of the best condition I have seen it. As always, the pace of play is very good. I often am able to play a round of golf with my buddy in just over three hours. Wow!

One thing...they don't have much in the way of food, so bring some snacks.

Course is in a bit of disrepair, needs some investment.

This is quite a drive for me (1 hour plus a stop at the Texaco in Jonestown for wonderful breakfast taco). I'd gladly make this my regular home course due to the condition and course layout.

We've played Highland Lakes a lot--we've always liked it, but the improvements made lately are fantastic! They're obviously investing in the facilities. This course is not too bad, but can be challenging--a few uphill holes, a long par 3 and a few slanted fairways. Both of us typically shoot under 90, and this course keeps us humble at times.

I grew-up on Muni course and I have played my share of resort style course, but I will be hard pressed to find a name a better set of par 3 golf holes then I a found on this lakeside course. It will be the primary reason I will play this course again because it will be a challenging test of my golf skills.

This course is not long but it offers severe elevation changes and blind tee shots to keep the best players on high alert! In fact, I found every tee shot on the back nine demanded your complete commitment and execution.

I am sure the green will be better the next time I play and the fairways better maintained.

Good Course, Good Pace of Play (3hrs for a twosome), fairways are a little thick, but greens were in good shape.

Keep your ball in play. Good little course with challenging greens. Fun course.

I have played this course in the past and always considered it a low grade golf course. The clubhouse was in disarray and it looked like a walking dead set. HOWEVER, the clubhouse has been revamped and they put in a little pro shop trailer and the course is super green and in the best condition I've ever seen it. I had a blast playing now that it was taken care of. It's a really fun course where you can make shots vs. just trying to blast long shots. Not overly long, but has lots of nice shot making elements. For the money, I don't think you can do better now. It also doesn't get too much play, so you can whip out a quick round. 100% nicer than it used to be!

For $24 it was a good deal, shame I played poorly!
