About
Formerly a private club, Windcrest Golf Club is now open for public play. This nine-hole course is tight in some spots with a traditional layout that calls for a variety of different shots. Tree-lined fairways and elevated greens protected by bunkers require sharp short game skills and accurate placement off the tees. Water hazards also come into play on two holes. With four sets of tees, the golf course is perfect for juniors and beginners who want some practice or avid golfers wanting a quick round. One of the most appealing things about Windcrest Golf Club is that it doesn't get especially crowded on weekends, meaning tee times are rarely required.

Nice little get away!!
Course is built on a city block nice little 9 hole course. Can't beat the value and conditions are always nice. Greens are nice and fairways are nice. Some real easy holes and some that take a little shot shaping. Great course to play when you want to get a quick round in. The longest par 3 is about 160 from the tips.
Short course with tight fairways
This was my first time playing at this course. I was disappointed that it is only a nine hole course as that was not made clear to me until I got there. I paid for 18 holes before realizing that you simply played the same nine holes twice, from varying tees. TIght fairways were the biggest challenge, but the greens were well kept. Fairways were in rough shape honestly.
Friendly Course
Really enjoyed my round and Windcrest. Starter was very friendly and considerate. The club was in good shape the greens Rolled true. Not an overpowering course but challenging for all skill levels. Water jugs were always field which is nice since some of the high in courses forget to refill theirs. Value for the money was excellent carts were very nice. And when it was beginning to rain this staryer notified when it was time to come in.
Excellent course excellent service highly recommended
Hidden Gem
Found this place on golf now in July and have been back almost ten times since. Staff is incredibly friendly and happy to explain the course which is always in good shape and you can tell that the staff takes great pride in their work. It's great for walking as it's shorter than most, but it does require accurate shots due to some dog legs, and tree lined fairways. A fun course for casual players, and with only nine holes you won't kill your whole day playing a round. Finally the cups of ice water on one and six are a nice touch, so go out and enjoy.
Friendly
My 1st outing to this place and I just started back playing about a month ago after several years off and have played at about 6 different course and really enjoyed myself@ this particular one, Quiet on this Monday and fairways and greens are very well-maintained for a 9 hole course well worth the funds spent. And will definitely return. BOTH gentle man at the counter were very nice and made me feel welcomed . And also let me tee off 45 mins early******
The course is very well kept.
Short holed make this course great for beginners and older players.
Great Value, Very friendly
Course is really in fantastic shape, even the bunkers are great. Pace of play was fantastic at 4pm and had no one pushing me and no one to wait on.
The staff was extremely friendly and due to the heat had free ice coolers on two holes with large cups for water which not even resort courses do(DARN YOU TINY LITTLE TRIANGLE CUPS). This small feature was a huge plus for me, its the little things that count.
Golf
Thank you to Hafiz for showing me around. This was my first time playing here. If you want 9 holes this is the place with the price value to show for it.
Great For All
I'm not going to lie. I'm not very good at golf. That's probably why I love this place. It's long enough but shirt enough to walk. It's challenging but there's not a ton of water nor sand. The staff is friendly as can be. And the value... I'm not sure how they can stay in business offering rounds thus cheap!
Another thing I love about this place is that you don't hear a lot if background noise other than leaves russling in the wind.
I've played here 5 times. I live on a course in the far northern part of SA but I drive the 40 minutes to get here to play instead.
Decent conditions but short course
If you're looking for a quick 9/18 or an easy short course to take your kid or spouse, it's not too bad. Not overly challenging except for a few narrow fairways but it was in decent shape. Ground crew could learn some etiquette when it comes to letting the customers play vs. them mowing the lawn though.
Fun Course
I enjoyed this little 9 hole course. Due to all of the recent rain the course was really overgrown and lost a few balls in the fairway because the grass was so thick. The ground crew was out mowing, they just couldn't keep up. I played in the middle of the week and had an early tee time so going around twice wasn't much of an issue. I did get slowed way down on the last few holes due to the 2 rotations on the course. I imagine on busy days this gets really bad. Over all wasn't bad, and I would play it again.
Great Value
I have played this course over 100 times and I am not a member. The staff including maintenance personnel are friendly and helpful. The course is very challenging if your Tshots are not accurate. Bunkering and water hazards added to the tree lined fairways make this short course seem longer. I generally walk and play early. I have played 18 in a walking twosome in just over 2.5 hrs, but I have also gotten behind slow players and played 18 in 3.5 hrs.
Greens are generally better than the munis in San Antone and the overall maintenance is good. Club house is a little old but always clean and staff makes it warm and welcoming.
I hesitate to strongly recommend the course because it might bring more golfers and ruin my good experience. :-)
Beginners
I'm a beginner and I love this course. The water traps are minimal and the greens are easy to navigate. You don't need a lot of power on your drives until the 9th hole and everything is pretty flat.
Course shows some past neglect
There are quite a few bare dirt areas on and near some fairways leading to poor lies at times. Maybe with the wetter spring they will fill in so one doesn't have to hit off dirt. Greens had been aerated and sanded and were shaggy and slow. Time will heal.
Fun course, slow pace of play
I have played this cause numerous times and always enjoyed the experience. Course is in good condition, challenging, and fun to play. On this occasion I had a 1:45 tee time and the pace of play was unbearably slow. Since it Is nine hole course you play twice, integrating those on second go around with new players is always problematic but they also had walk in customers which made the backlog worse.
user friendly yet challenging
Had a good time and scored ok. Nice to be remembered on sight and pace was steady.
Golf windcrest
The course was in great shape. Enjoyed the twosome we golfed with. Overall recommend.
Typical muni
Didn't know it was a nine hole til after I started. Staff is very friendly. Price through GolfNow was very good
