About
Formerly a private club, Windcrest Golf Club is now open for public play. This nine-hole course is tight in some spots with a traditional layout that calls for a variety of different shots. Tree-lined fairways and elevated greens protected by bunkers require sharp short game skills and accurate placement off the tees. Water hazards also come into play on two holes. With four sets of tees, the golf course is perfect for juniors and beginners who want some practice or avid golfers wanting a quick round. One of the most appealing things about Windcrest Golf Club is that it doesn't get especially crowded on weekends, meaning tee times are rarely required.

Great shape...any level of player will enjoy...and, you can play 18 holes in less than 3 hours!
It's a 9-hole course with four sets of tees. It'll give you as much challenge as you want. It is fair and yet challenging. It's short...but, you still have to execute the shot!
Great GREENS
This course is great to practice your iron play. The course is relatively short and has many trees. The greens were great. I had true rolls and they are a little slow. The 8th hole is fun, because you can play it normally or cut the corner and have a very short 2nd shot. A lot of fun to play.
Great 9 holer
This is a short course, 4780 yards, par 68, playing the 9 holes twice from two different sets of tees. Fairways and greens are in beautiful condition. Tight course, requires thought on club selection. The course could be played without ever touching a wood. Greens are to be aerated next week (9/9/2013) , which is good for them, but a real shame since they are perfect right now.
Quaint, old course of big trees and narrow fairways. 9 holes played twice.
Quaint, old course of big trees and narrow fairways. 9 holes played twice. Located in an old neighborhood with senior citizen club members who play often. Don't be offended by the older guys -- they are friendly. Course could be played without driver, and low handicappers will get many birdies. Suggestion: play white tees, then blue (or red!) or black tees to give a different challenge each time around. Fun.
A course with a lot of character
This was my first time playing on the course. It is a very mature course with lots of character with big trees and interesting placed greens and tee boxes on several holes. It is only 9 holes but playing from two different tees gives it a different feel. Really enjoyed the experience and will return.
What a gem.
First time there and I was very, very impressed. Especially with the staff person (Larry) who took plenty of time to acquaint me with the course. I will be back.
Small 9 hole course thats a joy to play
This course is tucked inside a small community, with the property in a 2 block by 2 block area. The course is maintained thuroughly and the staff was extremely helpful.
Great course, former members are jerks!
I love this course and my father and I have been about 12-15 times in the past 2 months because of all the great hot deals on golfnow.com. The course itself is very easy and very short, but is in remarkable shape for the price you pay. It has better greens than La Cantera, yes, yes I said it. La Cantera has to draw the borders of their greens. The tee boxes and fairways are good condition, minus the par 3's. HOWEVER, the course used to be highly private, and some of the old members still golf the place and if you are not an old member, you are the scum of the earth. These old guys think they own the course. They will boss you around, tell you that you cannot do certain things. For example, I hit one ball out of bounds and dropped to play another ball. One man (red cart with a dog in it, he is there every single day) drove all the way down the fairway blocking my shot to yell at me to not play two balls. Frankly, I wanted to knock his cart over with him in it. Never have I been yelled at on a golf course by someone who is not even affiliated with the course. The people that work there are extremely nice. Overall, I highly doubt I will go back, purely due to these old men. They have ruined the course for me. They are just jerks (cannot use a worse word that would truly fit them).
Great customer service and course conditions!
This was the first time I have played this course, and the service was excellent! Before we teed off, the manager showed us to the first tee box, and gave us a valuable breakdown of each of the nine holes so we had a rough idea of what to expect. Even with all the rain we have had recently, the course was well drained and in excellent conditions. This was one of the most enjoyable rounds I have played in a long time, will definitely be back soon!!
Straight forward and short.
even with members playing in front of us driving their carts onto the greens, play moved. we finished 18 in 3 hours. there were only a few challenging holes due to well placed pins. It's a fun little course.
Had a great time out there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course is in great shape.
For a 9 hole course you play twice, the course is challenging due to the number of tree. Golfers were good about letting you play through so it took less than 4 hours for a 3 some.
Great course!
I had a great time at this golf course. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food and drinks were reasonably priced. The course was in great condition, although the greens could use a little work. There are pretty narrow fairways, but the holes are short. Great experience, and a good course for golfers of all levels.
Good condition, fun course
I really enjoyed my round. The course was in great shape given the drought conditions San Antonio is under. It's a bit too short for me - didn't have to hit anything but driver, wedge all day - but that's kind of fun sometimes.
Great little course
Enjoyable round of golf, the course is short and tight. the greens are in good shape and a nice size.
Great attention to detail.
Great course, super friendly staff. From the starter to the
Cook who delivered our food to the second hole.
All the greens are Iin super shape and the fairways in
Great condition. Will make it one of my regular stops
When in San Antonio. Fairways are tight, lots of wedge
Play after your drive.
Really nice course. The staff was very nice and provided valuable pre-game information on the course itself.
The nice condition of the course and courteous staff really appealed to me. The players were friendly and helpful also. I hope to play this course on a regular basis. Thank you Golf Now and Windcrest for great rates, a great course, and a very friendly environment...top down!
Short but fun describes this course to a "T". Greens are fantastic and accuracy is a must in order to navigate this 9-holer.
Par here is only 34 and the par 4's are all on the short side. 2 of the 3 par 3's are also short. Playing the back tees adds a little length but there is just no way out of the fact that this course places a premium on accuracy and not length. Greens are in excellent condition. Many mature trees that keep wayward shots on the course but are real obstacles on recovery shots. Very gracious staff and the people who play this course are extra friendly. Both times I played at Windcrest this spring I walked 18 holes in about 2 and a half hours. This would be a great course to introduce young people and other beginners to the game of golf.
This same thing happened to me today, he blocked the cart path and told me I couldn't play 2 balls. I told him ok, and then he helped my find my 2nd ball. I thought it was pretty rude, but then he seemed nice.
