Royal American Links Golf Club
About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

Greens are showing some wear
I've played this course for many years and it's in pretty good shape. The greens are showing some signs of a lot of play and somewhat reduced maintenence. the holes don't look like they've been moved in awhile; lots of wear around they.
royal american
A good course. I can see where is was built to be private. A nice mix of holes. I'd play again
Tees ok
Fairways ok
Greens nice
really enjoyed our round
Selected a same day golf now played for $15 great course great staff great deal pace of play was great. We played at 1:30 on wed afternoon I recommend this course to others
Not bad if you get a deal
This was my first time playing the course. Paid $31 on Sunday, which seemed about right. At full price I wouldn't recommend the course. Conditions were fairly good, and the greens were generally fast and true, although a few were heavy on ball marks.
Definitely not a true links-style course, but less wooded than some, with some tall grass to contend with if you find yourself far from the fairway.
The course rewards conservative play. Strategically placed water on most of the par 5s keeps longer hitters from hitting driver, although some can still be reached in 2. Shorter par 4s are fairly straight forward with an iron off the tee, but make it tempting to hit driver. Water comes into play fairly often.
Have a ranger and a starter on busy days
Friday afternoon on a gorgeous day for golf. 3 groups waiting on the first tee and no starter so we had to work out our own order. Worked for these groups but could have gotten ugly. Nearly 5 hours to finish 18 holes....ridiculous. Get a ranger out there to increase the pace of play. On at least 4 holes there were 3 groups WAITING on the tees. Love the course, hate to wait !
Royal
Great course but slow play on a Sunday later afternoon. Greens were hard due to a lcak of rain. Tough to shoot at the pins and have ball staop on greens. Fairways were in very good shape. Rough thick and dry but that was expected.
Nice course
We got behind school leagues. Very slow. Staff was great. Some other players were not so nice. Overall it is a play again course after leagues are over.
Course in great condition
Course in great condition. Can tell the course is being improved on an ongoing basis.
Average staff
I played this course on Saturday and it was a rainy miserable day. I didn't mind playing in the rain and could have played the full 18. I only played 13 holes bc of an outing that was schedule 10 minutes after I was set to tee off. There was no way I was playing through seven groups of four. Playing as a single it was disappointing having to quit playing bc they scheduled tee times when there was a large outing on the course. If they would have allowed tee times early and cut them off so the outing wouldn't effect the pace of play for others I think I would have enjoyed this course more. I will come back to play, but hopefully this issue doesn't happen again.
Course
Course was in good shape after a heavy rain. Greens rolled well. Couple of tough pin placements that made it interesting
RAL
Good shape. Lots of ball marks on greens, typical of a course that hosts a lot if outings. Overall good experience.
Beautiful scenic great course!
The staff was friendly. The course was in excellent shape. The practice putting green could have been better but everything else was great.
Good Deal for a Good Course
Played this course on a Sunday morning and the course was fairly empty which made getting around in 4 hrs no problem. Fairways were nice and plush and while the greens had some rough spots, it was nothing that out of the ordinary for a public golf course. Paid $35 per person and for that price will definitely do it again.
Great course!
This course is absolutely beautiful. Both the course and the facilities are amazing. We got a 1:03 tee time through Golfnow on the Saturday of 4th of July weekend for $25 including the cart. At that price, this is the best value for my money golfing that I have ever experienced.
Will definitely be back to play again.
Would have been 5 stars
Pace was extremely slow. There was a ranger out on the course trying to speed it up, but to no avail. Took 5+hours, which is unreal.
Course was in good shape, slow greens, most tee boxes were well kept. Good value for the course.
Beverage cart was easily accessible, saw her every other hole it seemed.
I found the yardage markers to be extremely inaccurate on the card vs the actual distance when using my GPS device.
Very Nice Experience
Although the course had received a large amount of rain over the last couple of days, the course was in remarkably great condition..... Kudos maintenance staff! Although the fairways were soggy in spots, good drainage took care of most of the water. The greens were in great shape and rolled very true. All-in-all our group had a very nice time.
Friendly Staff-Great 19th Hole
Enjoyed our Saturday at RAL. Pro Shop, Grill, maintenance...everyone helped provide for a great experience. Really enjoyed that the beer selection was diverse for a golf course. Really enjoyed the pint of Ale at the 19th hole following our round. The course was a little soggy due to heavy rains but was still a challenge worthy of the price paid to play.

Great course, challenging, can't wait to get back out there
Royal American
good course, great price.... The only real issue is the utility wires that hang over three or four holes. I have hit them twice in playing there over the years.
