Raccoon Valley Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Raccoon Valley Golf Course (formerly known as Raccoon International Golf Club) sprawls across gently rolling woodlands, featuring scenic vistas of the surrounding countryside. The course is known for being home to the longest par 5 in the state, the notorious 17th hole. This treacherous hole measures in at a devilish 666 yards that will challenge even the longest hitters. Although the terrain is mostly flat and open, there are some surprisingly dramatic undulations in the greens that will cause tricky uneven lies. There are several lakes that come into play throughout as well as a number of strategically placed bunkers. In addition to the penultimate hole, notable holes at Raccoon Valley include the par-4 eighth, which requires a 220-yard carry, and the 11th, a par 3 that plays over a lake to a two-tiered green guarded by a bunker.

Hidden Gem
I really like this course for the value, its out in the middle of nowhere so its never overcrowded. Great greens, well maintained course.
Its a little short, and kinda open. Greens are kinda quick. Not the hardest course in the area, but its a nice one.
the course needs work
slow
play could use a ranger to pick up pace of play
Relaxing course
Beautiful course with mature trees and shaded areas. Course is comfortable to the senses and offers challenges when needed. A pleasant and enjoyable course.
Fun and relaxing place to play with friends
Have played here before 2-3years ago, much improved fairways, varieties of challenges for various skilled golfers - will go again - only thing to GREATLY improve experience is stock Arnold Palmers 1/2 n 1/2 lemonade/tea nothing beats it for a wretchedly hot golf game!!
Fun Course
A nice variety of holes, plenty of trouble if you're not straight. A few carries over water. Greens were in nice shape and a nice speed.
Great Course for the Price
Pleasant surprise! I'm only in my 3rd year of playing golf and this was the 1st time I had played this course. The staff was very friendly and the course was in great condition. For the price you cannot beat it. I will play here again.
Good layout
Nice layout. Fairways were a little shaggy. Greens were nice. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Raccoon international
Played a great round and it was definately worth the money, great layout!
Elevated tees with excellent views
As long as you keep it in the fairway, you will shoot a great score. This course is very forgiving for a missed shot. Enjoy the day on this beautiful course.
Poor maintenance
Traps were horrible, weeds and grass instead of sand. Down trees all over. Needs a lot of work.
Nice challenge for mid-handicapper.
Like the older established tree lined fairways. Easy course if you stay in the middle of the fairways and hit the center of the greens!
A fun course with several interesting holes....a good value.
This was my first opportunity to play Raccoon International in several years and I was not disappointed. The greens were in very good condition and the landscapes throughout the layout are an enjoyable bonus.
Very wet due to all the recent rain
Very wet due to recent rain but greens were good. Sand traps are horrible!
nice to play during the week
played here on a saturday and was not a good time due to the pace of play. Golf now had a great price of $9 on a Friday 7:40 a.m. t-time and it was far better.
Four Stars For Fun, Only One For Elegance
This course has it all. Lots of mature trees, interesting holes, ponds, hills, sculpted greens. Our Golfnow fee was so low that the value was off the charts.
On the other hand, over half the traps were dirt/weeds, the ponds were covered with green algae, and there was a general lack of maintenance that would discourage any trendy golfers.
Since we are not trendy we had a blast and look forward to playing it again.
This course is a good bang for the buck.
I booked this course for the holiday weekend over Labor Day weekend. I saw a hot deal to golf 18 holes with a cart for $15. I just couldn't pass it up. I don't play very often (4-5 times a year) and I enjoyed the course. It is challenging enough because the fairways aren't too wide. The greens were challenging to read. The only problem I had was the greenside bunkers looked more like hazards. I tried once to hit my ball out of the sandtrap and it was like concrete the hit out of. The rest of the day if my ball landed in the bunker, I took a free drop because they have grass in the greenside bunkers and it was hard as a rock to hit out of. However, since I don't play very often and for the price, I just had to play it.
Great Sunday price thru golf now
The course was in overall good condition other than the bunkers have zero sand in them and some soft spots with standing water. Nice pace for a Sunday morning.
Enjoyed the course
Great greens, fairways good and lots of character to each hole. Don't worry about the sand traps as it looks like they are letting many go to grass. Watch for exit sign, not direct access from 161, or get updated garmin.
Beautiful scenery & hills... Blind Tee shots
This course is one of the most beautifully scenic course I've played, lots of hills and trees, but wide open enough that u can drive the ball 15-20yds of center and still have decent shots. It has elevated green and elevated tee boxes and I felt for the most part that there is a lot of variety in the 18 you'll play here. It features an over 600 yd par 5. Only con to this course were the series of blind tee shots where the greens are somewhere over the next hill. Keep track of where the players ahead of you are as it's easy to lose track. Overall I will be going back again for sure.
Rolling fairways and greens...
Great course for the price (paid $12). I played the front 9 alone in just over an hour, caught some groups on the back but they kept pace and I was done in about 2.5 hours. They have a 666 yard par 5 that was fun...pretty much all the fairways are open and roll forever. The greens were a bit tricky, but after a few holes you got used to them. Staff was young but friendly.
