Raccoon Valley Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Raccoon Valley Golf Course (formerly known as Raccoon International Golf Club) sprawls across gently rolling woodlands, featuring scenic vistas of the surrounding countryside. The course is known for being home to the longest par 5 in the state, the notorious 17th hole. This treacherous hole measures in at a devilish 666 yards that will challenge even the longest hitters. Although the terrain is mostly flat and open, there are some surprisingly dramatic undulations in the greens that will cause tricky uneven lies. There are several lakes that come into play throughout as well as a number of strategically placed bunkers. In addition to the penultimate hole, notable holes at Raccoon Valley include the par-4 eighth, which requires a 220-yard carry, and the 11th, a par 3 that plays over a lake to a two-tiered green guarded by a bunker.

Great layout and fun to play but needs some attention
This is a course that has a nice layout. Well defined fair ways by trees and greens were in great condition. The fair ways were kind of poor condition and bunkers were unplayable. Just needs tlc. Over not that bad and would play it again for 14$
Some work needed on bunkers
the staff is excellent, the cousre is alittle rough with cart tracks all over the place.
Nice piece of property, ends there!
Nice property, pleasant views, pathetic golf course. Sand traps full of weeds, no sand. Greens not much better, never again.
Really?!?!?!?! What a joke..........
This is by far the worst course I've seen or played at in my 15 years in Columbus. Luckily for me I didn't have to pay to play there (company outing). I don't think they own a fairway mower or have a head grounds keeper that knows how to grow grass. Every tee box was 85% mud/dirt with a few blades of grass here and there. Not 1, I repeat not 1 fairway was mowed and it looked like it hadn't been done in over a week. You honestly couldn't tell if you were in the fairway or the rough. The bunkers (if you can even call them that) were a complete joke. I think there was more grass growing in the bunkers than the tee boxes. The greens themselves were in horrible condition as well. Every green had 4-5 ball marks that weren't even repaired. One of the craziest things I've every seen.I even saw a guy playing in cowboy boots!!! The course themselves couldn't even pay me to play there again.
Slow play
Not a bad course at all, but the bunkers are in terrible condition. The day we went they had an outing I believe for inconsiderate first time players. It took us (2 players in a cart) just over 5 hours to play! Other than that I would play the course again.
the course was well mintained and a challenge with trees on both sides of the fairway
would recommend this course to friends some fairways give way to slices but mostly you have to hit a straight ball or be in the trees. water comes in play on several holes but in all a great course
Nice course with some challenging holes.
I enjoyed playing at Raccoon International and found the course well maintained with some challenging holes; especially the 17th which is 666 yards from the blue tees and 512 from the red tees. This is definitely a course I would play again.
Poorly maintained.
The greens had ball marks all over them. Most traps had no sand in them. The fairways were very hard and difficult to hit from.
Good features but presently marred because of the condition of some of the fairways and one or two greens.
Course conditions were poor and not maintained well. The fairways were hard-panned in alot of areas as though there was flooding of the course particularly on the back nine. Although I've played there in the past and enjoyed the course, I left there this time with the intention of not playing there again for another year at which time I hope the course conditions would be corrected.
Course needs a lot of work
The course has nice rolling terrain but that's about the best I can say. There was no sand in the bunkers and the T boxes were in bad shape. Then, even though the course was backed up they were sending people off the back 9 on front of people making the turn.
Sorry to see Raccoon in such disrepair. I last playing it about 15 years ago and was not expecting to see it on such bad shape.
A dump that shold not have been open........
Played on July 12. Wet, wet conditions. Should not have been open. Standing water or soaked fairways through out. Course will not likely recover soon from the greed of opening under these conditions. If my only option for playing were this venue, my clubs would be on Craigs List..........
Help needed
Played it for the first time this season. Wont play again. Fairways are in terrible shape. Skip this one if you can, it'll be awhile before its good again.
Great Staff made for a great experience.
Overall the fairways and rough were great. Greens average. Sand traps were in poor condition. This was my first time playing the course and the course lacked signage which made it difficult in between holes. Overall the course was in fair condition and a great value.
There were several slow playing groups in front of me. I played by myself. The staff was great. The owner/manager (?) came out when I was on 10 tee box and handed me a free round of golf for my wait. He then invited me to skip over the slow playing groups to the 17th and then come back. It was a generous offer from him as I expected a delay to begin with.
I can tell there has been a lot of work on the course recently. I'll be going back to enjoy the course again.
Great Value for 18 holes and a cart through golf now!
Course was a lot better than in recent years. The greens were smooth and well kept. I found a great price on golfnow and had a great round just taking my time.
Missing hole number signage
Cart paths missing arrows easy to get turned around, dirt cart paths run out so not easy to find way.
Love the course but needs work.
sand traps need alot of work
This is the first time i've played this course this year. We played late in the day thinking we could play quickly. Boy was I wrong. On the front we followed 2 two somes and it took around two hours. We teed off on the back and there was a foursome on the green we caught them on the next hole and had to wait for them on every hole and it took us 2.25 hours for our 3 some. The sand traps were a mess. It would have been nice if someone would have notified us before we started our round. The greens were hard and needed watered and their speed was so-so. I almost gave Racoon a 2 star rating but since fairways were good and ruff was a high and challenging I kept it at a 3 star. They need to have a ranger out there to make sure play is continued at a good pace. I won't play there again this year.
A really fun course.
I really enjoyed playing this course. The course is challenging and it requires you to use just about every club in your bag. I also like the hidden greens.
Course has fallen into disrepair
We have been a fan of the Raccoon course for years and play it frequently. We like the layout, with a lot of variety and enough hazards to make it interesting. This was our first time playing there this year. Bunkers were in terrible shape and the greens were bumpy. Course definitely needs attention. The course was busy, but the pace of play was better than usual. Will play it again later this year to see if conditions have improved.
This course is very nice.
This course plays well it has some blind fairways, greens are in very good shape, nice course.
Good course for your weekend golfer.
Course is well maintained. Par 4's are pretty short, averaging in the mid to low 300's. However, there is a couple difficult par 5's. On the front there is a Par 5 that dogleggs left at the end and is almost unreachable in two. There is also a Par 5 on the back that is over 600 yards. Needs three good shots to get there. Overall a good value for your money.
