About
Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa sits along the banks of Lake Huron with Sarnia to the East and London just 45 minutes west. The course has a links-style layout that stretches to 6,782 yards from the back tees. Designed by Rene Muylaert, the creation of the golf course required over a million tons of earth to be moved to the site. It was then molded and shaped into rolling terrain that offers a tough but fair test. The namesake creek comes into play on 13 holes and there are also several strategically placed bunkers that lurk beside the greens. There are some tricky holes but it's not overly punishing to the high handicapper. In addition to the golf course, Sawmill Creek also has a driving range available for warming up.

A tale of 2 sides
The front side was in perfect shape. Several holes on the back side were unplayable. They really need to figure out the draiage on those holes before I come back for 18. The staff was super friendly.
Fall Challenge
500 yard par 5 from the Senior Tee! Greens had been areated recently. Long, narrow at times,. Shot 96, 10 over my typical round!
Greens
Would have been nice to know the greens were recently aerated. I don’t understand why this isn’t included when purchasing tee time.

Really in a state of disrepair.
The money charged for the course is highway robbery compared to how poor the conditions are. I understand they were airing greens out but yikes - putting was impossible. You could easily miss a putt within a club length from a weird bounce. Several hazards in play on the fairways. Pro shop lady was extremely nice but the course really was in bad shape.

Superb
Course in fantastic condition. Always enjoy playing here. Fazio did great with this design. Greens were smooth and speedy. Played the back tees and used every club in my bag. Stay below the hole. Highly recommend!!
Sawmill Creek Golf
Very good track and in pretty good condition. Although pace of play was a bit slow, staff was friendly and accommodating. Price for a Saturday was reasonable too and I would definitely recommend playing this course!
Perfect Day
The course was in very good shape, especially the greens...nice! Nice breeze...sun & a few clouds...beautiful!
Overall a very enjoyable experience. As Arnold would say "I'll be back"!
Flooding can be an issue but course conditions are improving and amenities are greatly improved with the newly renovated clubhouse and restaurant.
The course layout is great and staff are very helpful and friendly.
Back and better than ever
I have played Sawmill many times over the years. A few years back they lost the back nine to water damage and things were not good. I went out there for the the first time since the back nine reopened last summer. Course was back in great shape. All 18 are in the best shape I can recall them ever being. I am from the west side of Cleveland and had a chance to talk to the staff about the need to advertise in the Cleveland area. They used to get a lot of play from people out of Cleveland, but I think that has dropped off since the issue with the back nine. With the discounts for Seniors and through the various online sites, it is a great deal for the money. The course is back and better than ever.
Play SawMill w/o wind is nice
Course in great condition, but my game has declined so much that Sawmill plays long, especially the par3s. I can tell Cedar Fair is putting money into the course, improving drainage, especially #12&13. Huge greens, so a 3putt is a given ......otherwise fun layout.
Clubhouse is being remodeled, staff is awesome (especially mgr Abby), and fun day with random pairing.

Sawmill is back!
since the course is in new ownership management
its coming back to "resort quality" status without the resort high greens fee....greens and bunkers are in great shape...the fairways are lush and the overall experience
is wonderful..one minor comment is getting the 1/2 way
house back up and open..would speed up play and not have groups drive over to the main clubhouse at the turn.
Hot July Afternoon @ Sawmill
Course in great shape & holes 12&13 recovered from last week's flooding. The Hallway Hole #12 is still the toughest par 5 for this old guy. The wind was mild this hot 90* afternoon, but no excuse for 4 or 5 3putts. Staff (Abby & Sean) is awesome & GolfNow provides great Hot Deals, so hopefully that continues with the Cedar Point ownership.
Horrible experience with a staff member
I used the bathrooms that unknowingly were only for marina guests. When I came out of the restroom a course worker was in a golf cart next to my husband's golf cart. He told me that the bathroom was only for marina guests. I, thinking he was joking, old him that I had a boat, but it was in Saundusky, He looked at me, drove past me in his cart and said "Don't do it again". I will never golf there again. and will certainly NOT recommend this course to any of my fellow golfers.
