The Grizzly Golf & Social Lodge - Grizzly Course
About
The Grizzly Course is a collaboration between Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead. Since opening in 1972, this challenging layout has been host to numerous PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA events. The golf course features long, curvy fairways lined with towering trees and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. The three final holes feature water hazards, which are also accompanied by a difficult array of bunkers. It offers a fair amount of difficult holes but overall the course is playable for a range of skill levels, which is why it is an appealing layout for tournaments. In addition to the two courses, the Golf Center also boasts an 11,000-square foot putting green and an Academy Course with four championship holes.
Also known as The City of Mason Golf Center - Grizzly Course.

stacked up on fairway! #Grizzly Photo submitted by todski26 on 11/12/2012
Not Bad for the Price
The Grizzly is a good test of golf for most. It was in fairly good shape but the greens have taken a beating from all the ball marks. Fix you ball marks people! Have some respect for other golfers that are playing!
Good Grizzly
I've played here a number of times and always enjoy it here. The course layout is good (Nicklaus design) with a moderate degree of difficulty. They have done a good job improving some things like the cart paths and bunkers. The greens are a little pockmarked...I really wish people would fix their ball marks...but that goes for all public courses. I'm especially happy today because I flopped a 30 footer in for birdie.
Good Course
The Grizzly is in good shape, it has handled the rain very well and carts were free to roam. My only issue with the course was it seemed people had not taken the effort to repair divots on the green, but the ran true. Also finding the entrance is a little tricky, go on Sports Complex Rd. But I will always look for deals on Golf Now for this course.
The greens!!!!
I played the grizzly for the first time this year and I was really happy with the conditions of the greens! They were fast!! Great course a must play!
Good shape, but very slow.
This is an old course that's fun to play, and as an average golfer, plays very fair. However, I consistently find that it is overbooked and plays very slow. For the relatively high price ($45+ on weekends), I wish they'd keep the pace a little more manageable.
Good for the money
Good course in great condition. The course was packed and lots of newbie golfers (probably due to affordable pricing), so pace was a bit slow. Biting guess that is what you should expect on an afternoon leading up to a holiday weekend.
Why I have plentyof time, I will come back for another leisurely round
Very nice course!
The course is in very good condition with a country club feel, as it is bordered by homes for most of the track. The greens were true, and the tee boxes and fairways were well manicured. However, the course shows signs of a municipal as the greens showed signs of golfer abuse, with ball divots going without repair and traps that were packed and hard. Further, the signage and parking were lacking, as we found it difficult to find our way around. All in all, we'll play it again for the course, but the facilities need updating.
OK course
Need better organization with tee times. Is a course that have a lot of potential to get better.
Golf Now Review
Golf Now had a good price for 18. However, the pace of play was extremely slow and it was difficult getting a rhythm when you have to wait on each shot.
This course was awesome!
Five star course. Everytime I play it it gets better every time.
Too crowded with too many houses!
Too many people crammed in the course. Lot of twosomes. I am not sure why they didn't combine some groups in to foursomes. Difficult to follow the direction while on the course. Also, too many houses, roads running through or in very close proximity.
The Grizz
The course was in better than expected shape. The greens rolled well and the rest of the course was in good shape.
Great Wednesday morning at the Grizzly
In the shade of the Lindner Family Tennis Center this golf course had better times, but it is back on its way to good conditions. Fairways and greens are in good shape. No complaints. Hole to hole directory is a bit confusing.
I was a Single and paired with a Twosome, which were out for the first time this season. Pace of play was slow, so we split up.
I'd definitely consider to play the Grizzly again if I'm in the area.
Great Course, Bad Tee Time Management
My cousin and I play 4-5 rounds a week all over Cincinnati and we love the course. The conditions are great and I have nothing bad to say about it. But, they have to get something done about the tee times. Going off on an early tee time does absolutely nothing for you because they start on both nines. This eventually leads to a quick front 9 for players in the first few times on each 9, and an agonizingly slow back 9 when you get to the turn only to find multiple groups stacked up waiting to play their first 9 holes. It's not uncommon for us, when we do schedule here, to grab the first time of the morning, which actually isn't until 7ish, and play the front in between an hour and half to less than 2 hours, but then we won't finish until close to 11:30. For players that start between 7 and 8, it has to be even worse. If they switched to everyone starting on one side of the course, we'd play a lot more.
Local course worth playing
The course was in good shape for this time of year although the greens were not. The aerated holes had not closed from last fall so your ball bounced more than it normally would. Don’t get me wrong, the course was still worth playing on and the price through Golf Now was excellent.
Good Value
Staff, very nice course in good condition for this time of year. Pace of play 3.5 hours for the 4 of us
Great condition for March
I played on March 21, and I expected to be up to my ankles in mud. In fact, the course was in far better shape than one would expect for the season. The bunkers were perfect, the greens were fast, and the course in general was in good shape. I can't wait to go again once spring gets more into swing.
Good course for the value
Course has great variety of hole layout, as well as tee length for novice to experienced. Can't beat it for the price! My only suggestion is sand traps could use more sand.
Always love playing the Grizzly
Probably the course I play the most over the whole year. It's a fun course, challenging in some places, but very fair.
