Most enjoyable muny
Found staff to be helpful when we called ahead with
difficulties in reaching the course on time...
Conditions and layout rivaled many private courses.
Under 4 hours as a twosome and we couldn't keep
up with the walking and riding group ahead of us ;-/
Awesome Course
I really liked playing this course, it was pretty open so i didnt have too tough of a time keeping within the limits. the second cut is short but it was still a struggle to find balls and I actually lost one even though I knew exactly where it fell.
Great local course
One of the best courses in the area. Good value when compared to other local courses. Plan to play there again.
Bad day
Tee time was 11:45 on a Wednesday, usually courses are empty at this time and you can fly through a nice midweek round. The lakes course had a tournament going on so everyone was forced onto the oaks course. It was way overcrowded and took over 2.5 hours to play the front 9. Every shot required a wait and due to the snail like pace I had to leave after 9. The greens were also in very poor shape with divots and brown portion and holes everywhere. I won't be back for a while after that experience. The only redeeming factor was I got a cheap tee time ($29), otherwise I would have been really upset.
Overall, very pleasant experience and a fun course.
Most holes were forgiving with fairly wide and open fairways.
Respectable course
Pros: This course has plush fairways and good length if you are looking for a challenge from the tips at 6700+ yards. The greens were about a 8.5 to 9 on the stimpmetet, by my estimation, which is not fast by my standards, but may suit a higher handicapper better. The grass driving range was perfect for a true warm up before hitting the course.
Cons: The greens had lots of ball marks that were not repaired, but in defense of the course, people should fix their ball marks and maybe one more that they see.
The course was in great shape.
Twin Lake's is one of my favorite courses. The Oaks course if you want to challenge your skills, The Lake's course if you want wider fairways and less trees. Although there is water to deal with. Thanks to Golf Now Twin Lake's is now in my price range!
Excellent Condition, challenging tee shots & Approach Shots
Paid $52 for the Oaks Course as a single through Golf Now which included a cart. When I arrived, the other golfers that they put me with were all walking so I decided to walk with them as well. The starter at the time wrote a note on my receipt and told me to head into the club house to get a refund due to not taking a cart. Golf was great, course was in great shape. The bunkers were very wet though. It had challenging tee shots, lots of trees, and challenging approach shots to bunker guarded greens. Greens were very soft. I had very large ball marks on each approach shot into the green that were difficult to repair due to the severity of them. My only beef was after my round I went into the pro shop to ask for a refund due to the fact that I did not take a cart. The older man at the front counter said because I booked through golf now he didn't think there was anything I can do and I was fine with that. No big deal but then a younger gentleman came out and said in a sarcastic voice "nothing we can do because you booked through golf now". I responded in the same sarcastic voice "Hey bud, I was just asking." Maybe it was my own interpretation but it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. He was in no way nice about it at all. Golf was great, pro shop staff not very nice.
Great course
One of the best Fairfax county corses. Very challenging for an intermediate player
this course is fantastic..
good and i enjoyed playing here and the prize from GolfNow...thanks..
Fair for the price
The layout is very great, however the pace of play could not bear under the weather above 90s. The green is super slow and it makes difficult to make two putts at green. The price is fair, but I emphasize hat this course is not ladies who could carry less than 120 yards.
Lakes course great for retooling and fun golf.
Course in good shape. Lakes course is great for practice and retooling your game. Much more forgiving than the Oaks course. Some holes require good course management to play the hole correctly. Greens were a bit ball marked but that's from players not repairing ball marks properly. The scorecard has tips for playing each hole which is great for 1st timers there (like I was) and very conveinient. Very nice staff. Pace of play was on target for a Tuesday mid day round. Definitely will play there again this summer!
Love these Twin Lake courses. Great condition!
Great find. Beautiful courses in my area. Very happy.
course that makes you think about where to place your shots.
staff was very friendly and helpful. course was very well kept up, and pace of play was quick. playing to positions allowed me to out play two "Bombers" who out-drove me (on average) by 50 yards. greens rolled true, and traps were true.
Oaks course-- very scenic, challenging course.
Very enjoyable, challenging course. Good variety of challenging and easier holes. The course was in very good condition after heavy rain the day before. Great value at$29.00 golf now deal. I highly recommend this course.
Great course
This course was a very nice course. It was a bit challenging and had a nice layout. Was a little long if you play from the blues but the layout has some forgiveness and was nice for beginner golfers. You had a few holes with water and a few holes with quite a few sand traps. It was taken very nice care of and the greens were very fun.
Good Layout. Some Challenging holes.
Greens can be rolled and improved. Bumpy and patchy. Rough can be cut and maintained better.
Off Season Play
It was February and a bit cold so there were not too many players on the course. I played alone and finished under 2 hours. It would be unfair to give a true review since the greens were semi-frozen, the traps were hard as concrete from not being groomed and the grill was closed.
The course always seems to play a bit long and when the temperature is hovering 50, it plays even longer. I hope to see more deals for them on Golf Now in the future.
You will enjoy this course.
The Oaks Course is a well maintained public course which has a
design we enjoy. It has elevation changes, water and wood lined fairways which are wide enough for the average player to enjoy. The greens are nice, not particularly fast with gentle breaks. Pace of play is a bit slower in the spring and summer. GolfNow prices make this course a great value.
