Good Layout. Some Challenging holes.
Greens can be rolled and improved. Bumpy and patchy. Rough can be cut and maintained better.
Off Season Play
It was February and a bit cold so there were not too many players on the course. I played alone and finished under 2 hours. It would be unfair to give a true review since the greens were semi-frozen, the traps were hard as concrete from not being groomed and the grill was closed.
The course always seems to play a bit long and when the temperature is hovering 50, it plays even longer. I hope to see more deals for them on Golf Now in the future.
You will enjoy this course.
The Oaks Course is a well maintained public course which has a
design we enjoy. It has elevation changes, water and wood lined fairways which are wide enough for the average player to enjoy. The greens are nice, not particularly fast with gentle breaks. Pace of play is a bit slower in the spring and summer. GolfNow prices make this course a great value.
Just a solid, well-maintained course
This course, like it's less difficult sister course, The Lakes, is consistently well-maintained. It challenges you without overwhelming you, although the first two holes are demanding. Number 1 is a Par 5 that requires precision to avoid double-bogey or worse and Number 2 is a long Par 4 that demands a good bit of carry on the tee shot from the middle or back tees and a longish second shot into the green. From there the course is a bit more forgiving but not a pushover. The fairways and greens were in great condition and the leaves were blown off to the sides of the rough, so accurate shots were rewarded but errant ones could result in a lost ball under the leaves in the woods. Scenic and pleasant to play, this course is definitely worth the money. Nice Pro Shop and snack bar, too.
Still in great condition
It's winter time. Frosted morning and stuff. But the course is still in good condition when the sun comes out. It's pretty impressive.
My friends who played there for the first time liked it much.
Solid Course
Lakes is very open especially on the tee. Very hard to lose your tee shots. Couple long par 3's but this is what makes it fun. Very solid course to improve your game.
holiday
Well maintained course. We played on an unusually warm Sunday before a holiday and the course was busy. A ranger/marshall to keep pace of play would have helped.
Extremely Fast Pace of Play on a well Maintained Course
I played this course for the first time a on a Friday afternoon and was extremely pleased with the value. I was able to fly through in not too much more than 3 hours, and I thoroughly enjoyed the course, especially the front 9.
Slow
Course is really nice but pace of play was slow. Got no help from marshal.
Great course for the money.
I usually play Twin Lakes (The Oaks Course) during the week so I'm not sure what it's like on the weekend. But the times i have played the pace has always been good and the course has always been in great shape. I played on 09/26/12 and although the greens were a touch slow they still played great and the roll was true. The fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. This really is a great course for the money. Just beware, it plays really long from the tips, especially if the wind is up. The best value is to book GolfNow's hot deals which ranges from $27 to $32 midweek.
