Chapel Hill Golf Course

About
Located just northeast of Columbus, Chapel Hill Golf Course has a central location that makes it easily accessible. Its affordable rates make it doubly appealing. The course was designed with players of all skill levels in mind with four sets of tees and some fairways that are open and others that are carved from the forests. The layout tumbles across rolling hills that provide interesting elevation changes and scenic views of the surrounding countryside. There are water hazards coming into play on seven holes. There are some notably challenging holes including the par-4 ninth, but the seventh and 11th are the golf course's signature holes. Built on the site of the former Mount Vernon Bible College, the old chapel now provides a unique clubhouse for the course.

Rude staff
While the course is good bang for your buck, it is a decent drive for me and I’m assuming most people if they are coming from Columbus. 1st time playing here in years and it will probably be my last. The extra money is worth playing other courses in the area. The course is in pretty good shape, the greens were rough in some spots. But the main reason I won’t be back is the staff is rude. They urge pace of play. We had a tee time for 11:26 and were on the 1st box at 11:22 ready to tee off while he was screaming at us to get started. Then the same starter came to find us on hole 8 to say we are playing 2.5 holes behind schedule. He was extremely rude. We let a duo go through to help the pace and yet our cart said we were only 3 minutes behind the pace of play at the end of the 9 hole day. Our foursome finished in 2 hours and 10 minutes and that’s with a senior and a beginner female. The starter made the round unenjoyable from beginning to end. Would not recommend this course unless you live around this area and aren’t bother by rude staff.
Perfect Day
Got paired up with 3 other players, we had a great time. Pace of play was good. Course conditions were good, wish the cart paths were better, but management is keeping the course in great shape

Character
Played this course in early 2000 until 2008 every summer and enjoyed it immensely. Cart paths need some work but overall it was great and punishing
Chapel Hill
Have not played here is years, price was good, 49.00. senior 40.00. But non Seniors get a drink coupon. No cart girl. My huge complaint was the cart paths. Crazy I know. But the full length of cart paths were awful. My back began to hurt after the first few holes due the back wrenching incredibly rough pavement or lack of pavement. I told the guy at the counter I’ll be back after they re-pave the cart paths. I’d rather pay 80.00 and have smooth cart paths.
Chapel Hill delivers again
Course was in good shape, pace of play was great for a busy Friday and the staff was great like it always is. We’ll make the drive a few more times this summer!
Best in 30 mile radius
The course is in great shape. From tee to green everything is very well taken care of. Very friendly in the clubhouse. I have nothing bad to say about this course.
The starter needs to RELAX!
Took a few friends there for a round who had never golfed the course before. The starter was rude, and needs to relax. We arrived on time , promptly got our carts loaded and were immediately greeted with (“you guys need to hurry up! The group after you is already on the tee box”).
1. They shouldn’t have been allowed to be huddled around the 1st tee box 20-30 minutes before their tee time.
2. We were at the tee box and ready to tee off before our tee time.
I told the starter lady to let them go ahead of us, which they did, and starter continued to gripe and say things under her breath. At no point were we late for our tee time or not ready to go off the first tee ON TIME.
So our experience started off on the wrong foot after getting hounded to hurry up while we were on time.
Then throughout the round we were constantly being pinged with alerts and messages on our carts for being ONE MINUTE behind pace of play???!! Are you serious?
So again we are unnecessarily rushed, and continued to be griped at from beginning to end.
It’s unfortunate that the rudeness of the starter and constant harassment from all of the cart notifications overshadowed a otherwise great day on a golf course.
You sound like the kind of 4some I wouldn't like to play behind... Do us a favor and stay in Illinois.
