This course is very challenging and demanding.
The staff offers a beverage cart and also has plenty of water throughout course. Very well kept course.
Great Views
For the money, this course was right on par. While short and wide open, there were still plenty of challenging shots and good pin placement. The greens needed some attention as there were ball marks all over the place. Playing near the mountains has it's advantages as the views are great.
Pace of play was pretty standard as we got done in just over 4 hours.
Outstanding Course in beautiful Shenandoah Valley
I could not have spent a nicer Independence Day than I did at Bowling Green CC in the Shenandoah Valley! What a beautiful course, it was short yardage (5971 yds) but the holes were in great shape and very beautiful countryside. There were 4 or 5 drive-able Par 4s which made the round that much more enjoyable. The par 5s were challenging and the par 3s were in great shape. I'd highly recommend making a trip out to play!
Sunday June 30th
My brother actually had his wedding and reception here, and we were unable to finish our round that day. Great course with a nice layout. Needs a ranger. Played behind a very slow, very rude group for 18 holes. Should have been able to play through, but they hurried off the tee box as we were clearing a green. A ranger could have resolved this. Other than that, perfect day.
great short cours for the $
went with my mom driving....shot 76 and she never saw me play b4. we had the course to ourselvels and the rough was actyually high and difficult for a short course=great challenge!. Greens were in superb condition other than ball maeks..c'mon guys, fix your own dents!
Nice layout. Played for $10. Got what we paid for.
Decent round for the price. Course conditions weren't great. Driving range tee was bare dirt, bunkers were untended and we lost several balls in the clover in the rough. There was one tee box that wasn't mowed at all. Greens were in good shape except for the worm piles. It's a nice layout, and for the price it was worth it.
played there a lot over the last 5 years
very well maintained course considering the relatively low end green fees
South Course is hilly, but can be walked. Great course for us seniors.
Initial tee time was for 9:00 AM; however, on arrival the North Course was overrun with members and the attendant suggested I might prefer playing the South Course instead of waiting a few hours to get on the North Course. Some day I'll play the North Course, but the South Course was a terrific alternative. Thanks to Bowling Green Country Club staff!
Relaxed environment
IF you can stay out of the trees your score should be relatively good. BONUS points for the carts having ball and club cleaners attached...Take notes other courses!!!
Great value.
It's a bit of a drive, but a great value for the price. Greens were nice. You had to hit the ball straight off the tee because the rough was thick and difficult to hit from.
If your retired....
An inexpensive way to play. Very benign course, slow greens and unraked bunkers. I played there May 6th, there was no starter and a bunch of old ladies taking their good ol' time on every hole. One group finished putting, then, sat in their carts in front of the green for 10 minutes adding scores and talking. I had to play my approach over their heads! Some people huh?
Also, there was no water to drink, all the water holders were empty.
To sum it up, if you can play it for less than $20...it might be worth it.
Great course and staff
The staff were friendly and helpful as I had a couple problems with my tee time. The course was in great shape especially just coming out of the winter months.
A great course for the money.
This is a great course and a real value for the price. It is shorter than most but still requires accurate shot making. The greens were in great condition but a little on the slow side. If you haven't played here before, try to avoid the morning hours as it is quite busy with locals. In the afternoon, you will play at a much faster pace.
Low Budget Course
Picturesque, ahhh well for the first timer there from the cites, yeah I guess it is. The course is not that long but can be tricky, because of the tree's,( no water on the south, and really only two water holes on the north). Cheap old courses that can be fun to play! My personal experiences there have been good too terrible, some fellow golfers have been rude and disrespectful of golf etiquette the employees ( front desk ) have been down right rude at times, not very organized at All, have alot of problems with online reservations..
Course In great condition
Im usually shooting in my upper 90 to low100, today I shot 90 a very relaxing afternoon.
Always enjoy North or South Bowling Green, well maintained and just enough of a challenge!
Love playing golf and enjoy the area we are in: Shenandoah Valley. Great courses!
Bowling Green South Course
Great value for the green fee with spectacular scenery and nice course layout.
Bowling Green South
This is a short course very easy and straight forward. Short par 4s . The course is average or a little below but for the price it provides a afternoon of golf at an affordable price. The greens are ok but small. The fairways , well it's best to stay on then not that great . Could use some renovation, but very playable. Lots of bad areas, and hard clay to deal with. But overall for the price it's worth it . Played there many times and will again. Try it if you are looking for some affordable golf. The south course is very score friendly offering many input unities for birdies and good scores.
Good value-very pedestrian course,however
Short course good for the ego--fairways and greens only in moderate shape--cart paths need work
