The 14th - a nice short par 3 with a tricky green. Photo submitted by GolferJake78 on 03/01/2019

Great Round of Golf - Will Play Again
I played this course on 6/16/18. The course was in excellent shape. The front nine was slow but it really picked up on the back. The course layout is diverse - you're forced to hit almost all of the clubs in your bag. I'll definitely be back.
Good, but slow
Enjoyed our round out at Herndon, but there were a few issues. First of all, in front of our 4-some was a single who was put in between us and another 4 some. Up ahead on the course, there were a lot of other groups, but not too many behind us. Why the starter put that single in front of us made no sense, and we ended up waiting quite a bit on the front 9...and no cart girl at all! The back 9 was the same issue. Except this time was because the group of college guys took an absolutely ridiculous amount of time between each shot. We would be hitting our shots into the green as they were teeing off on the next hole, but whenever we got to the tee, they would still be hitting their shots into the green!! We saw a marshall, but he obviously didn't think it was enough of a problem when this group would be taking 2 off the fairway with us waiting behind on the tee box. If I were more of a confrontational person, I would have said something, but it was the first sunny day in a long time around here, and I figured I'd just enjoy my round. The fairways were well kept, and so were the greens. The hole locations on the greens were all so tough! Most were right on the edge of a crazy slope, and made putting pretty tricky. Not much of a gripe there, just an observation.
We will be back to play here, and hope that the round is a bit quicker next time!
Great Muni
Herndon Centennial is my home course, I've been playing it for years but I figured now was as good a time as any for a review. I think its a great course if you want to score. Not too long and nothing too insane. There's a handful of really nice designed holes. My only gripe about the course is that 8-13 tend to drag as they are all par 4's and only 9/10 are really of a different mold compared to 8,11,12,&13. The Par 3's are short but not insanely straight forward, the Par 5's are short but I don't like to go for them in 2 shots unless i hit the perfect drive. The staff is really nice, the value is really good if you are a town of Herndon resident (make sure you mention that you are with a driver's license) but average otherwise. They recently switched the "restaurant" in the club house and its a bit pricey. Definitely better than your average Municipal Course.
Course is in phenomenal condition
Haven’t played golf in about a year. Thursday was my second round in a week in the past year. I love just down the street from Herndon Centennial and it’s always been in fair condition when I have played it. Thursday when I arrived, I noticed the freshly cut fairways. I was impressed and had the thought that the course would be in great condition. That thought was correct. Greens were rolling true and as fast as any private CC I have played in recent years. Definitely going to have to play it again this year before the season is over.
Great layout
Other than the frozen greens, snow and rain, had a great day. Truly enjoy this course, short ,but challenging. The greens are very protected by design and traps. Thanks to Golfnow we got a great rate. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for another deal at Herndon centennial, can't wait.
This course is deteriorating
All I have to say is birds poops are all over fairways, rough, greens and carthpaths.
Excellent
My wife and I enjoyed playing a round of golf so much. The weather was good.
This Course Is a Gem
The course designer, Ed Ault, has designed many municipal courses like this one but this layout is special. This parkland course features well-kept fairways, mature trees, moderate rough and sand bunkers. At par 71 and 6200 yards the course is not long but the greens are small and extremely challenging to read. If you love to drive the ball, this course is for you. If you miss the fairway, you will be penalized by trees and other obstacles but you will usually have a shot out of trouble, instead of a lost ball. Because of the small greens accurate approach shots are a must and to score you must hit your approach shots to the right part of the greens. In a perfect world, the course should be lengthened to 6600 yards and there are a few places in which the architect intended sand bunkers that are grass which should be converted to sand as originally intended by Ault.
Fallen leaves
My wife and I had an enjoyable time at the Herndon Centnenial Golf Course. But there were too much fallen leaves on the fairway.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
The only holes that have geese poop are 3&17. 2 holes. And it's only on certain sections of the fairway close to the lake. Over dramatic.
