The Hollows Golf Club - Lake/Road

This course is extremely easy, short and wide, birdies and pars one after the other with multiple drivable par 4’s. It’s my favorite hot deal without a doubt. Haven’t had “Lake” the third 9 open the past 3-4 times i’ve been here but that’s just winter wetness. Wasn’t happy to pass 5-6 cooler cages without water, was dying of thirst the whole round but nonetheless is always a good time.

Staff moved me to Lake rather than Road. Was able to play in 3 1/2 hours . Everyone having a fun time. Greens and tee boxes in great shape. A bit wet in spots due to all the rain and short daylight hours but expected this time of year and all courses here. Played well thanks to the awesome pace of play.

Other than one incredibly slow foursome on front of us (who we passed), it was a very good day.

My wife and I (60's) play many different courses all within an hour of Richmond. We shoot in the low 90;s. We had not played The Hollows in 2 1/2 years and always liked the place very much. Today, guy at the desk when we checked in was rude, and a real wise a... Never really experienced that elsewhere. He could learn some manners and Customer Service Skills. The course was in extremely poor conditions - mud almost everywhere, poor drainage, and leaves in MASS very wide near the fairways in many many areas. Balls easily lost, and we talked to another player there who felt the same way. Saw no staff out working the course to blow all these leaves elsewhere, and working and making efforts. Kinda is what it is.. # 9 on Lake 9 is a prime example. We were also told at the beginning once there that 11 of the holes would be cart path only. Saw the carts at the beginning, and lack of care is seen there too - all carts are visibly dingy/dirty. Save your money and play a course that cares and has good staff. This place not recommended.

Second time I’ve played here. Both times the course was in great condition minus some severe drainage issues on a few of the holes. My main complaint is the overall rudeness of the staff. Both times I came no one was very outgoing or friendly and the person who we checked in with was outright rude, it honestly ruined the day. Also one water cooler had water in it and the rest were bone dry... I get it if COVID makes you not want to fill them but then why would one be full and not the rest? One last thing is how come Lake is always closed? Both times I’ve been there and the few times my dad has played there we’ve never been able to play lake. It looks to be the prettiest of the three and one of the more fun nines yet it’s never open. Big letdown

Greens were in fair conditions, It was cart path only today it was wet and very muddy on some of the cart paths. Course could use some attention on the cart paths. Fairways were good. We did notice a large tree laying in cart path on hole 1 on the road course. (Been there for a while) Carts are very dirty and haven’t been cleaned up in a while and could be much cleaner in my opinion . Overall we had a good day.

A few of the greens weren't in the best of shape but had been aerated a week or so ago. The fairways and rough were in great shape. My playing partners enjoyed themselves. We played the Lake course then over to the Cottage to finish up. We booked our reservation through Golf Now/Pass which gave us a really good deal plus the tee time we wanted. The staff is always friendly and professional. Great job.

I would recommend this course for an enjoyable not overly difficult round of golf. Greens were in great shape for holding a shot and putting. Fairways and rough were in very good condition and the right height.

This course is a great hot deal, but the rough is always way too long, easy way to lose your ball without using trees! Would definitely recommended, very drivable course and will be returning soon

This course is exceptional and very reasonably priced. Very challenging and fun to play. The staff are all very professional and just nice folks. In a nutshell...I would recommend this course to everyone!

Played this course as a hot deal for my first time and had a ton of fun. The rough was a little wild but it’s been raining pretty consistently for the past few weeks so can’t be too upset there. Super fun par 3 on the cottage 9, tee off over the pond to the green. Greens were slow but well kept. Will definitely be playing this course again in the future.

Andy, the owner and all of his staff are absolutely wonderful! Their customer service is the best ever…… Gerry, Bob, Patrick, Jimmy, And everyone else always goes above and beyond to ensure we have a great round of golf. My brother and I play here at least twice a month and we absolutely love this course; it is very well-maintained!
