The Hollows Golf Club - Lake/Road

The only complaint I have is something the course cannot control and I understand that. But my friend and I got paired with someone that quite frankly didn’t vibe with us. He was very unaware of how we played and very socially awkward. I’m not blaming the course but I wish there was a way to maybe next time just split us up in a pair when you four people and two of those people don’t know anyone.

Very poorly cared for. Fairways and tee boxes are rock hard. Bunkers are gravel pits. Green are decent, but that’s relative to the fact that the rest of the course is so poorly maintained. Staff is unfriendly and seem to hate being there. This place attracts the lower class clientele with no etiquette.

Pace of play was a little slow at times, but the course has been improving and has fixed major drainage issues of the past. We went after a rain and the fairways were all dry on Road and Lake.

The Hollows is a great course if you don’t wanna break the bank for a round of golf. The price is good especially for a Hot Deal on golf now (like $30), but there’s a couple things to note.

- Gravel/dirt cart paths (avoid going here after it rains or you’ll be in for a muddy mess)

- No cart girl

- No restaurant or “grill” (that I was aware of)

- No ball cleaners or club cleaning stations

- Driving range is in pretty rough shape — it’s more of a warm up range

Had a great time on this course. In good condition, fun course and great price.

No ball washers at any hole. No drink cart or wayer available on the course. No maps of each hole at the tees. Adding all of the above could greatly speed up the pace. 4.5 hours for 18 holes

Road nine is under repair so only option was Cottage/Lake. Layouts of these are good. Not too challenging, but good mix of doglegs and straight-aways and only a couple tee shots over water. The fairways and greens were in good shape, but the tee boxes and rough were not. You can pretty much drive the cart anywhere, which is good because cart paths are gravel and VERY dusty (my shoes and bag were covered in gray dust by end of round). Staff is friendly. It’s a good deal if you find a discounted rate, like the GolfNow one and a good course to add variety to a rotation, especially when the Road course is available again.

I have an associate membership here but I wish I did not. Their online rules/cost of membership vs the pro shop rules/cost do not match. It is always frustrating to book and check in. We always arrive early for our tee time but it's a total waste because they are literally ALWAYS backed up. There are often 5-10 carts lined up at the first hole and there is often no one out there to help direct people or put them in order. With three 9 hole courses it is ridiculous to always be like this. Many times we are not even able to tee off at our tee time or we have to start on a different 9 hole course than everyone else because of some issue with booking as an associate member or because they are so backed up that we cannot find our place to even fit into the long line of carts. I will not be renewing my membership after my current one expires.

The course wasn't bad at all were in a dry season and the fairways were struggling only because of pond fed irrigation and little to no rain. Greens were nice! Golf pro don't remember his name and cart guy were both very pleasant and talked to me and my daughter before and after play. Will def be revisting. Golf has changed since the pandemic in the sense that alot of golfers don't know the respect and courtesy in Golf and the course and it showed with alot of the golfers we were around. This has nothing to do with the course itself just an addition to the review in hopes that those reading it will be more respectful of the course and the game!

We played on Labor day and weather was in question but turned out great and pace of play was good.
