Challenging course and is in great shape.
I have played Mill Quarter for years and believe the course to be in the best shape ever. The fairways are great and the greens roll well. The sand traps need some work, but overall the course is a lot of fun to play and gives a good challenge as well.
wide open fairways, greens roll true.
good course for players of all levels with four sets of tees. The fairways were well maintained and wide open. The greens were smooth and the ball rolled true. When we arrived a little late the staff welcomed us warmly and accommodated our needs. I would play this course again and recommend it to others.
Slow at first but we got moving!
The greens are in excellent shape. The staff is very friendly. Great experience.
Good deal for $27
Moderately challenging layout.Greens were in good to very good condition. Can't say same for fairways or bunkers, some of which were more like gravel pits. But I would play again for under $30. Play was slower than it should have been.
Super little course
Great greens, well maintained fairways, and fair but challenging holes make this an awesome place to play, while not breaking the bank. The staff was great - even the snack bar worker was super. My only reason for not rating it a 5 star was the groundskeepers were actually "in our way" a few times, and we had to hit from tees other than our choice at two holes because the sprinklers were on at our tees (I've experienced these same issues in one of my previous visits). Despite that small issue, I highly recommend Mill Quarter to golfers of all skill levels.
This Course is Right There in Front of You
Fairly wide open, and no blind shots into greens. "Old style" design, with a fair amount of fairway and green-side bunkers. The greens are very good fr putting.
Very interesting course that is in great shape
We enjoying playing this interesting course that is well maintained with the play moving at a good pace.
Great value
Loved the course! Drove over 60 miles to play this course and
would do it again. Staff was super friendly, finished 18 holes and decided to play 9 more and they gave us a great deal on that also.
had a great time
I always have a great time playing this course. The grounds crew is always improving on the course.
Saw 2 deers on course, Beautiful!!!
Definitely will go back, greens were pristine and fairways were groomed beautifully.
Great course, but needs attention!
I have been playing this course for years. I have seen it go through its ups and downs. This year and last, the course has been a few steps away from being in amazing condition. The bunkers on this course are flat out horrible. They have repeatedly neglected their sand traps year after year. Compared to the other costs of maintaining a golf course, I find it pretty ridiculous they can't find the time/money to fill in some bunkers and regularly maintain them. Using a different type of sand may also help the bunkers, as the type they use turns into concrete after any sort of rain. The greens could also use a little attention, but I don't blame that on the staff, as they seem to really be focusing on keeping them in very good shape. Maybe an overhaul in maintenance staff would be the difference maker, who knows?? I hate to say all of these negative comments about a course that I love playing but it could be one of the better courses for your money in the Richmond area with more attention to the little things. Overall, Mill Quarter is a very enjoyable track with many challenges, as well as rewarding holes. I will continue to play here but I just wish they showed a little more TLC to the little things.
Good for time of the year
Course is quite generous with the fairways, condition is a little tough with it's aerated greens (bumpey) but it's gotta be done this time of year. The layout is fine between the homes is fine, a little OB but wide enough. The value was great on Golfnow. They treated me like a member, as I was visiting from the northeast as an assistant pro.
Nice course just in rough shape
I have played here 2 previous times and liked it enough to go for number 3. It was never a blow your mind course but it is friendly and challenging enough to make a nice outing. This last time I didn't know the greens were aerated and nobody told me when I checked in either. The fairways were tall and needed to be cut. Bunkers were unplayable due to a really bad rain that had just come through.
Decent course most of the time.
The back nine greens were being aerated which we were warned about before playing. We had to play the front nine twice. Usually this course is in good to average shape. However, it was in need of a grass cutting as the fairways had overgrown clumps of weeds and the rough was too high.
Great Course
This course was a little bit of a drive but was in very good condition for the cost. The bunkers were pretty hard but the greens were in great condition.
Fair Price for a good time
Played on a Thursday morning and there were only a couple of other groups there. Fairways and greens were in good shape, but the "sand" bunkers were another story all together. They didn't appear to have been racked, sanded or taken care of, with the exception of a fairway bunker on 18. Otherwise a good day on the course.
Good course layout. Not terribly challenging with very easily read greens.
If you can find a deal on GolfNow, this course is a excellent value. Paying full price wouldn't make this a non-option, but given the location being quite distant from everything, a "hot deal" is really the way to play.
Course was kept in good shape aside from the bunkers which could use some attention to eliminate spots of weed growth. . Friendly marshall and good pace of play.
Just keep going back
What more can i say other than I drive 40 miles past maybe 8 to 10 other courses just to go here and I will keep going back.
Good challenge full of interest
Greens were a little slow, but over all the course condition was excellent despite the recent heavy rains
Bunkers were washed out in the main - the only draw back to what was a great golf experience
Good value for money and worth the trip out to a delightful part of the state of Virginia
Can't complain for the money
We played on a Tuesday afternoon and it was super cheap. The course layout is fine, but some weeds are growing out near the greens and the bunkers on some of the holes were in terrible condition(a couple were filled with water and many were packed dirt with little sand).
I rarely see walkers at the other courses I play around metro Richmond, but this course has always had several groups of walkers when I've played there. When you have so many walkers mixed in with those who are riding in carts, I don't know how that is not going to affect the pace of play. It's not like these folks are saving any money by walking. If they want to walk for exercise, go to the gym or walk around the neighborhood.
Other than those things, we enjoyed our round.
