The layout on the back nine is really nice including my favorite hole, the beautiful par-4 14th. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 10/17/2018

Most challenging course around
This course had a great and challenging layout. The greens are devious. The condition is great. It’s by far the best place I’ve played in Richmond that’s available. Best ratio of cost plus experience.
Great early round…in and out in 3 hours
Today was CP only due to recent rains but as iI sometime s walk this course it was a good bit of exercise.
100000000000/10
Arguably the best course in central Virginia. From the layout to the condition to the staff and the members everyone and everything gets an A++ this has become probably my favorite course I’ve played in Virginia.
My Local Favorite
This course is the overall best in this area. The fairways and greens are in great condition. It has concrete paths and real bathrooms. The Clubhouse has amazing food. They have state of the art golf carts, although they need to tune their GPS programming as my cart stopped saying that I was in a restricted area when I was in fact on the cart path. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Overvalued for the Green Fee Amount Charged
No range balls included. Any course charging that amount of money should have balls on the range. Greens had hundreds of poorly repaired ball marks. Excellent layout. Tee boxes were poorly maintained.
Staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, the starter asked and we OK’d him slipping a twosome, not on the tee sheet, in between us and the group in front of us. That put us back 10 min but play was also slow for the front nine.
Course layout is excellent and condition good.
Greens need work
When you pay high-end prices you should expect a high-end course! Greens condition take this course down several notches. Manager should offer discounts based on the course conditions which they control. Other courses in the area have dealt with the same rain, heat and wind and their greens are in really good shape.
Spectacular Course
Everything about this course was fantastic. First of all thank you to MARK the starter for welcoming this out of stater and getting me out early.
The course is in great shape. The layout is phenomenal. Worth every penny.
Staff was excellent. Course is challenging and fun. Beautiful sight lines. A great test of golf.
Best in the area!
Despite many local courses challenges with maintaining their greens, the grounds crew at Mag Greens is managing to keep their greens rolling nicely! I was very impressed with the course yesterday, particularly given the recent alternating heat/torrential rainfall pattern of the past few weeks. Also, their snack bar is perfectly positioned to allow golfers to grab something at the turn, use the restroom, etc, without skipping a beat. This has become my go-to/favorite course in the area. The only thing I’d like is to be able to use my GolfNow/GolfPass monthly tee time credits, but Mag Greens offers daily “online deals” vs the standard “HotDeals”, but it is what it is, and I’m very grateful to have Mag Green 20 minutes from me.
Not for Beginners
Too close to houses for beginners and no clarity or instructions given for first timer about it.
Great conditions
Course is in fantastic condition despite receiving nearly 10” of rain the first half of July. The fairways are some of the best I’ve played around RVA.
You Get What You Pay For
Nicest course I've ever played. Unfortunately, it was cart path only and the course was very wet when I played. New golf carts has GPS screens with course and hole details, including range finder. Staff was welcomed me as a newcomer and spent extra time with directions. Concrete trail paths and beautiful wooden bridges. Lots of wildlife. I'll be back and will consider joining since it's the closest course to my home.
Magnolia Green
The course conditions were as follows; fairway and greens were excellent. They had just received overnight rain but everything drained very well....except the bunkers...which were full of water. It doesn't look like the bunker problem happened overnight though. Washed out and hardly any sand. This is a problem they need to fix!
Greens are like the surface of the moon
This course is going downhill and it’s not worth the $90+ they charge on the weekends. It’s deplorable that nobody repairs their pitch marks on the green. Some of the greens are almost unplayable due to the amount of unprepared pitch marks leftover. Some of the fairways are also in rough shape with bare/dead spots.
These are problems they need to get addressed if they want to call themselves a “world class” golf course.
Won’t be back anytime soon.
