Good for time of the year
Course is quite generous with the fairways, condition is a little tough with it's aerated greens (bumpey) but it's gotta be done this time of year. The layout is fine between the homes is fine, a little OB but wide enough. The value was great on Golfnow. They treated me like a member, as I was visiting from the northeast as an assistant pro.
Nice course just in rough shape
I have played here 2 previous times and liked it enough to go for number 3. It was never a blow your mind course but it is friendly and challenging enough to make a nice outing. This last time I didn't know the greens were aerated and nobody told me when I checked in either. The fairways were tall and needed to be cut. Bunkers were unplayable due to a really bad rain that had just come through.
Decent course most of the time.
The back nine greens were being aerated which we were warned about before playing. We had to play the front nine twice. Usually this course is in good to average shape. However, it was in need of a grass cutting as the fairways had overgrown clumps of weeds and the rough was too high.
Great Course
This course was a little bit of a drive but was in very good condition for the cost. The bunkers were pretty hard but the greens were in great condition.
Fair Price for a good time
Played on a Thursday morning and there were only a couple of other groups there. Fairways and greens were in good shape, but the "sand" bunkers were another story all together. They didn't appear to have been racked, sanded or taken care of, with the exception of a fairway bunker on 18. Otherwise a good day on the course.
Good course layout. Not terribly challenging with very easily read greens.
If you can find a deal on GolfNow, this course is a excellent value. Paying full price wouldn't make this a non-option, but given the location being quite distant from everything, a "hot deal" is really the way to play.
Course was kept in good shape aside from the bunkers which could use some attention to eliminate spots of weed growth. . Friendly marshall and good pace of play.
Just keep going back
What more can i say other than I drive 40 miles past maybe 8 to 10 other courses just to go here and I will keep going back.
Good challenge full of interest
Greens were a little slow, but over all the course condition was excellent despite the recent heavy rains
Bunkers were washed out in the main - the only draw back to what was a great golf experience
Good value for money and worth the trip out to a delightful part of the state of Virginia
Can't complain for the money
We played on a Tuesday afternoon and it was super cheap. The course layout is fine, but some weeds are growing out near the greens and the bunkers on some of the holes were in terrible condition(a couple were filled with water and many were packed dirt with little sand).
I rarely see walkers at the other courses I play around metro Richmond, but this course has always had several groups of walkers when I've played there. When you have so many walkers mixed in with those who are riding in carts, I don't know how that is not going to affect the pace of play. It's not like these folks are saving any money by walking. If they want to walk for exercise, go to the gym or walk around the neighborhood.
Other than those things, we enjoyed our round.
Tough
Nice crouse but long fot us short hitters lol so it makes for a toughruond if you done get ut in play.Drove 95 miles to chrck it out and was glad I went. Didn't play well but that was on me lol crouse was great. Greens are well protected with big bunkers in front so make sure you use enough club ... Nice thats all i can say...
Unfortunately, had a cart but couldn't take off the cart path so made play very slow
Course was very wet and unfortunately that accounted for slow play
Good value
Not bad. Worst part were the bunkers. Full of water or hard pan were the case for many. Still it was the cheapest price I could find for a Saturyday in July.
I love the layout of mill quarter. The greens were in good condition.
Great course layout. Challenging yet not overly punitive for poor or misplaced shots. The greens were in good condition, maybe a little slow. The pace of play was brisk, which I enjoyed. I like playing a round of golf in close to 4.5 hours.
Excellent
Great course, great shape and price. Enjoyed it! Really love playing this course, especially being so close to home.
Dry and Hard.
The course was very dry and hard. Not what I expected for May.
Pay attention to the fees. You may pay more than you think.
I have had the chance to play Mill Quarter 3 times in the past month and enjoyed the course, however the last 2 visits I decided to play an additional 18 holes. The first time they only charged me for the cart rental which was $8, the second time they charged me $29 green fees but no cart rental. So my suggestion is that if you want to play 36 take your smartphone with you and rebook another tee time on golfnow.com you will probable save yourself some money.
Good layout and balance
Good condition for late April. Greens not yet at peak condition. Quite a bit of poa annua. Bermuda is starting to grow again.
