Belmont Golf Course

About
Belmont Golf Club originally opened in 1916, making it one of Henrico County's oldest courses. The original design was updated in 1927 by Donald Ross and in 2020 by Love Golf Design. The course has a traditional layout. The length and design are indicative of the time when it was built, but it is just as challenging as any modern course. There are a few tough holes that will challenge even the best golfers. Mature trees line Belmont's fairways and there are strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Being one of the most affordable rounds in the area, Belmont Golf Club has become a favorite amongst locals over the years.

Golf as it should be
If you enjoy walking this is the course for you. The layout is excellent and lots of people walk this course. Impatient people in carts please stay away. This may be my new favorite course in Richmond. Excellently maintained for the fall.
Great set up
First time out here and the course was in great shape. Love the 12 full holes and then the 6 par 3 course. Greens were in good shape definitely tricky to read and understand with out playing there before. Would definitely recommend this if you’re in the area!
Excellent condition but layout a bit confusing.
My first time playing Belmont since they completed the redesign a few years ago. Course is in great shape and the practice facility is second to none for a public course in Richmond. Since the redesign took it from 18 holes to 12, the layout is a bit confusing, especially for someone like me playing it for the time. The course is divided into 2-6-hole sides, so if you're playing 18, you need to go back and play one of the sides again (I got the impression they don't care which you choose). However, that causes the pace of play of your "3rd side" to slow considerably since you're now behind others who teed off later. Other than that small issue, it was a good experience overall and one I would recommend to others.
Great practice course!
The course was in great shape. It's a great walk. The only complaint: there was no opportunity to purchase drinks after starting (no bev cart and the turnhouse was closed). Also, there was no bottled water for purchase at the starter shed (technically that's 2 complaints).

It was a pleasure to walk in the shoes of History.
First round
Good venue. Layout a little confusing at first but well marked on cart paths. Surprisingly hard for my game at present but enjoyed the round
Not your Old Belmont
DL III redesigned a Tillinghast and it’s just not the same. Removed the first 6 holes for a 6 hole Par 3 course, putting greens, and driving range. Bunkers placed in many landing areas. Pace is really slow. Since run by First Tee, many new golfers and walkers. For 12 holes on 2nd tee time took almost 3 hours. Pack a lunch if playing on the weekend!
Buyer beware!
I paid for 18 holes of golf with a cart. The course is actually only 12 holes because the last six holes are Par 3's. When I putted out on 12 and went looking for 13 tee box... that is when I found out that the last six holes were par threes and you MUST walk them... no carts allowed. And that is where my round ended. None of this is communicated when you book your round. It wasn't right and quite frankly it ticked me off.
Oh well....
The good:. Great to see a place for kids to play. Better than more apartments
The bad...water on course but no cups
Tee box so hard couldnt insert tee
Fairways worse condition ever. Little grass. Need vertical cutting and seed. Perhaps perennial rye
Greens hard as rock. Many greens starting to get same fungus that occured when full course. Same greens again
Sand pretty but needs deep raking. Wet and packed 1 inch below.
Par 3 course greens hard. Will not except wedge (who decided to place trap on first hole behind green 15 ft below green)
Like i stated earlier. Much better than some of henrico early options
But really not for seasoned golfers
This course is poor layout topped by poor condition
Worse than hitting balls in my back yard!
* no grass in fairway or tee boxes
* what grass there was is in clumps
* needed a sledge hammer to put tee in
the ground on tee boxes
* greens missing patches even after aeration
* poor design - not real golf course - play 12
holes of regular golf with a cart path then
turn in cart to walk a mini 6 hole par 3
Hope the critics of Henrico County's management of this course are satisfied! Yeah, the new ownership added some white sand to the bunkers and don't maintain grass on the rest of the course. Good job - yeah right! :(
Very bad experience
So I got two flat tires on the way to the course and I called and was quite pleased that Belmont was understanding and was willing to push back my tee time to later that afternoon. So I drove an hour to get there in the early afternoon only to be told by the same person I talked to on the phone that Belmont receives no money from Golfnow and therefore I would need to pay full price to play on the course. This dishonesty is totally unacceptable and then to top it all off I can't find a way to contact Golfnow for a refund. Horrible customer service from both Belmont and Golfnow.
A Little Overpriced
Still a bit high for a 12-hole course but it’s good if you want a quick round early in the morning. Greens on the par 3 are just as good as the regular course. People need to fix their pitch marks.
