Providence Golf Club
About
Providence Golf Club in Richmond has a rich and unique history. The original location along the Pocoshock Creek closed in 1985 but the property and an adjacent parcel of land were then bought by a new development company. The additional land was used for six new holes while the original property now has longer and more spacious holes. The golf course then had another redesign in 2002 that was overseen by Virginia native Lester George, who is known for designing the highest ranked golf course in the state, Kinloch Golf Club. Providence G.C. wanders through a beautiful landscape of towering trees and wetlands. George utilized these natural features to create a number of risk-reward opportunities throughout the course. The golf course finishes with a risk-reward hole that is heavily guarded by both bunkers and a creek.

Fun Course. Challenging without crazy length
Had a great time playing Providence for the first time. It's a little on the shorter side but makes up for it with course design. No two holes felt the same. Greens were incredibly consistent and all in good shape. Would definitely play again.
Rhody Golfers
We traveled in from RI to the Richmond area for some Golf & Music. We spotted Providence GC on GN, and thought we had to play this place. What a pleasant surprise to find such a fun course. Jack in the pro shop was a great ambassador, and formerly from RI.
Enjoy!
First Visit
Terrific staff, nice greens, flush fairways, and some challenging holes. Course isn’t too difficult, it’s a good mixture.
Overall good course
Course was in good shape. Pace of play hasn’t been the best the last couple of times we’ve played. Price is steep all things considered, but overall a good experience.
Nice track
First time on this course. Fun track. Will play again. Small bucket balls 8 bucks. Not good. Tee boxes are bare, very little grass. Layout was good though. I'll give it a 7.5
This was a great find. Will definitely be back when in town.
The only bad thing about this course were the cart paths.
Very playable with amenities.
From blue and white, the layout is shorter than most. The tips are very playable if you’re closer to scratch. Driving range is fair, chipping and putting area are well positioned. The clubhouse girls make decent (enough) sandwiches for fair prices. Complimentary water bottles on 5-6 holes. Enjoyable course.
Good course
Very friendly people. Tees were well kept. Greens were fast and well kept. Beautiful course with some water as well. can’t wait to play here again. Water on the course. Played well too so that always helps!
Green conditions
Course has aerated greens give it a few more weeks and it’ll be beautiful
Greens
Very disappointed it wasn't posted that the greens were aerated. I completely understand it's that time of the year. I chose not to play other courses because their site posted this was happening. The greens were horrible.
Nice, conveniently located course
Played on a nice day just after winter weather. Despite being aerated same week, course was in very good condition (putting aside), particularly the fairways. A fun, interesting course with some good shot values and a fair number of risk/reward options. One of the better options in the Richmond area.
Nice challenging course to play
This is a nice course to play if you are looking for a challenge. It’s not long, we played from the blue tees, but it is challenging. I shoot in the 80s and I enjoy challenging greens. These greens are challenging and requires you to hit good puts for it to hold the line.
I would recommend this course for anyone. The staff is nice and always ready to help you.
Great shape for the season
Weather has been up and down, which is normal for Virginia, but the course was in really good shape all things considered. Pace of play was good. I was able to get a great deal on the course as well. One of my favorite courses in Richmond!
Great value great course
Well maintained course for money. Greens are in good shape. A lot if challenging holes. Best value to quality ratio. Can be slow at times.
