Providence Golf Club

About
Providence Golf Club in Richmond has a rich and unique history. The original location along the Pocoshock Creek closed in 1985 but the property and an adjacent parcel of land were then bought by a new development company. The additional land was used for six new holes while the original property now has longer and more spacious holes. The golf course then had another redesign in 2002 that was overseen by Virginia native Lester George, who is known for designing the highest ranked golf course in the state, Kinloch Golf Club. Providence G.C. wanders through a beautiful landscape of towering trees and wetlands. George utilized these natural features to create a number of risk-reward opportunities throughout the course. The golf course finishes with a risk-reward hole that is heavily guarded by both bunkers and a creek.

Do everything you can to avoid the greenside bunker on the par-4 7th. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 03/11/2020
Cart Path Only
The course was a little wet from the rain over the weekend, so it was cart path only. Overall, the course was in great shape for this time of year. We were able to play in under 4 hours. Great little course.
Providence golf course
This is a good course that’s in really good condition for this time of year. The greens run a little on the fast side but run true. Only downside is two of the par 5 are difficult to go for in two, even if you hit a good drive one has tall trees blocking a direct second shot and 18 has a big natural waste area in front of a smallish green both require a hero shot. Even with that I enjoy playing here.
Nice Track!
1st time playing this course, pleasantly surprised. While it was cart path only due to heavy rains the prior day, course was still in decent condition. Greens were very good considering the time of year. Looking forward to playing next year during warm weather when the course is green.
Good walk in the park
Had a good time playing wish my score was better but not the courses fault. Greens were in good shape and the ball rolled true even though the leaves. Maybe more forced carries over environmentally sensitive areas than I would prefer so if you have trouble getting the ball in the air maybe hit 1 more club then normal. Overall nice course with a decent practice area and driving range. Good rates for seniors too.
Course in Good Shape
The course in good shape for the fall. The maintenance team does a great job in keeping the fairways free of fall leaves. I would recommend someone to blow greens between groups. Otherwise, great course for the value.
Overall great experience
Course is in great condition. Greens are very good but could be great if players would repair their ballmarks. I must have repaired 5-6 ball marks on every green! Not the fault of the golf course, just pure laziness and lack of respect for the game by those who don’t repair their ball marks!
Worth playing
Conditions were pretty good for the time of year. It was worth playing.
Very Nice
Best / Fastest greens I’ve ever played. Really fun course
Decent course
Good course but did not clear the water off the greens. Very difficult to putt in the morning. No starter. Very confusing for someone who is not a member.
Providence Golf
My self and others were very surprised that nothing was said or posted that you had to play the front 9 twice .It was not until I had paid when I was told that I had to play the front 9 twice. When we made the turn, that is when the Disaster started. There was one foursome in the faraway, one foursome on the tee box, and one foursome waiting, and then it was us, needless to say, it was a SLOW, SLOW 9 holes, It was not fun.
Many challenging holes
Course always in nice shape with many challenging holes
The staff was great, the course was packed so the starter
The staff was great, rhe course was packed so the starter put twosome together to keep the flow moving that was good the fairways were in great shape the rough was a little to thick. The only problem I had was player's was not fixing their divot marks on the greens and that made them not be in the best shape.
