Eagles Pride Golf Course - Red/Blue

About
Located just 20 minutes south of Tacoma, Eagles Pride Golf Course in Fort Lewis is one of the area's best golfing values. Originally opened as the 18-hole Fort Lewis Golf Course in 1940, it soon became known as one of the best military courses in the country but it's also open to the public. Another nine was added to the layout in 1979. The three nines, known as the Red, Blue, and Green, are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Red/Blue Course is the original layout. The classic design is player friendly but at the same time challenging with an abundance of trees lining the fairways and greens as well as tricky elevation changes that make it tough to find a flat lie. Each hole offers plenty of variety.
Previously known as Red/Blue at Fort Lewis Golf Course.

Eagles Pride?
It pains me to write this because I love this track. I've been playing it since I was a kid and it has several really unique holes and never gets old. But it just seems like it has fallen on hard times. Things are overgrown. Retaining walls falling down. Cups looked like they hadn't been changed in days. On course bathroom facilities closed for maintenance. Kind of a big deal since the 10th tee is not close to the clubhouse. Long time to go without using the restroom unless you just want everyone going in the woods. Restaurant/bar was a ghost town. Not sure if funding is the issue but with the resurgence of golf in the COVID era I would hope this place can survive and thrive. Really disappointed.
Awful experience. Unprofessional
We had a 10:12 tee time, didn’t tee off until 10:30. Not a big deal, it’s a Saturday. We’re putting on 4 at noon and the ambassador pulls up belittling us on our slow play. I pointed out the group ahead was still on the tee box, how could we be the issue if we’re waiting on the group in front?
He changed his tone and blamed his boss for booking a tournament and needed us off the red course before it started. He told us we had to move to the green but we could play it twice to make up for it. Thanks
We started again at 12:30, finished the first 9 around 3. There was a lot of waiting due to the green course being packed with us non tournament . At the turn we started to walk to the clubhouse for food and was promptly stopped by a groundskeeper who just got off his radio. Because of how busy it was, if we got food we couldn’t play the back 9. “Sorry you probably feel like you’re being punished but we have a course to look after and keep the speed up and also the kitchen is closed for the tournament”.
I won’t be returning, it was one of my favorite in the area.
getting better
this is one of my favorite courses in the area and it is getting better as the weather improves and it dries out
Amazing Course
This was an amazing course and absolutely beautiful. It was much harder than anticipated but we enjoyed the challenge. Enjoyed the long par 5’s and the mix of par 3’s. (Long and Short). I would definitely recommend this course to others and if I lived closer would consider a membership here.
Good value year around
Play here a few times a month and enjoy it almost every time. Not much water or devastating hazards, so take that however you want.
I enjoy this place and it has good practice facilities including a grass driving range (during the summer).
After the rain
The course, the greens and the cart paths all in great shape considering our PNW wet spring. As good if not better than the last time I played, which was five years ago.
The courthouse staff are always friendly and helpfull.
Unfortunately due to current circumstances the dining and bar were understaffed.
Over all a great day of rainny golf.
Played good
The coarse, staff, greens and phase of play was great. I was put with a three some, one of the guys was pretty slow, so our pass of play was slow. I felt I had to hurry my shot in order not to have the ones behind us be held up.
Nice older course.
Being early in the year the course, expecially the greens are not in the best shape. There are a lot of altitude changes so walking the course was strenuous
Nice track
Eagle's Pride is a nice older course that is in very good shape. There are a lot of elevation changes and side hill lies. The starter was very accomodating and we played 18 holes in under 4.5 hours. There is a lot of distance between greeens and the next tee box and some of it is quite hilly.
Regarding Golf now: Tree of us played and the base preice was $24.99 each added to the cost for us all were two $10+ fees totalling $97+. I was surprised to see this. As a veteren I can play this cpurse for $27.
Well worth the money
I have played worse course layouts and paid a lot more money. Just a great course to play. Played the Green/Red courses.
Fun course
Fairly long course. Usually in decent shape. Staff is always nice. Had a good time.
