Eagles Pride Golf Course - Green/Red
About
Eagles Pride Golf Course has long been known as one of the best military courses in the country and luckily for golfers, it's open to the public. Originally opened in 1940, the course started as the 18-hole Fort Lewis Golf Course. Another nine was added in 1979 but it wasn’t until the mid-1990s that it became Eagles Pride. The three nines are called the Green, Red, and Blue, and they are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Green/Red Course starts with the newest and most challenging of the three nines. The course will test you with plenty of trees, water hazards, undulating slopes, and even the occasional blind shot. There are some tough holes but players of all skill levels could enjoy any of the nines.
Previously known as Green/Red at Fort Lewis Golf Course.

Good value
Great course. Fun to play. A little long for a high handicapper but I liked the challenge. Pace of play was very slow. Morning tournament scheduled and too many tee times stacked up right behind it. No Marshall to keep things moving that we saw. A few groups baled past us with four holes left as they were tired of being bunched up at each tee box. This could have been a one off occurance bc of the tournament. Backside restrooms were closed.
Again loved the course but 5 hours and 45 minute rounds aren’t my preference.
Great Course
Great course in great condition. Pace of play was good, greens were nice.
JBLM
The only thing I would mention is that the cart paths are getting rough. Otherwise everything from the pro shop to the finishing 18 holes was truly enjoyable.
Great fun course. No restrooms available on the course.
My wife and I played here yesterday, for first time. It’s a long course. We had lots of fun. The only negative thing was that the restrooms on the 11 th holes were closed and there were no alternative honey buckets were available. That was a big inconvenience for the golfers playing 18 holes.
Great course, very slow play
Love this course, but pace of play is almost always a problem. The problem yesterday was a group of older players that refused to play faster. The Marshall told us it was a language and cultural issue communicating with them. One of the biggest issues we have in the PNW is slow play from “certain cultures”.
Eagles Pride?
It pains me to write this because I love this track. I've been playing it since I was a kid and it has several really unique holes and never gets old. But it just seems like it has fallen on hard times. Things are overgrown. Retaining walls falling down. Cups looked like they hadn't been changed in days. On course bathroom facilities closed for maintenance. Kind of a big deal since the 10th tee is not close to the clubhouse. Long time to go without using the restroom unless you just want everyone going in the woods. Restaurant/bar was a ghost town. Not sure if funding is the issue but with the resurgence of golf in the COVID era I would hope this place can survive and thrive. Really disappointed.
Awful experience. Unprofessional
We had a 10:12 tee time, didn’t tee off until 10:30. Not a big deal, it’s a Saturday. We’re putting on 4 at noon and the ambassador pulls up belittling us on our slow play. I pointed out the group ahead was still on the tee box, how could we be the issue if we’re waiting on the group in front?
He changed his tone and blamed his boss for booking a tournament and needed us off the red course before it started. He told us we had to move to the green but we could play it twice to make up for it. Thanks
We started again at 12:30, finished the first 9 around 3. There was a lot of waiting due to the green course being packed with us non tournament . At the turn we started to walk to the clubhouse for food and was promptly stopped by a groundskeeper who just got off his radio. Because of how busy it was, if we got food we couldn’t play the back 9. “Sorry you probably feel like you’re being punished but we have a course to look after and keep the speed up and also the kitchen is closed for the tournament”.
I won’t be returning, it was one of my favorite in the area.
getting better
this is one of my favorite courses in the area and it is getting better as the weather improves and it dries out
Amazing Course
This was an amazing course and absolutely beautiful. It was much harder than anticipated but we enjoyed the challenge. Enjoyed the long par 5’s and the mix of par 3’s. (Long and Short). I would definitely recommend this course to others and if I lived closer would consider a membership here.
Good value year around
Play here a few times a month and enjoy it almost every time. Not much water or devastating hazards, so take that however you want.
I enjoy this place and it has good practice facilities including a grass driving range (during the summer).
