Allenmore Golf Course
About
Allenmore Golf Course is located in the heart of Tacoma but thanks to the beautiful setting with Mt. Rainier serving as a backdrop, it feels like it's actually miles from the city. The layout is just over 6,000 yards from the back tees and though it's not particularly long, it offers plenty of variety. It's a course where you'll have to use every club in your bag. Trouble lurks at almost every turn in the form of doglegs, trees, or out-of-bounds. Water hazards also come into play. With uphill, sidehill, and downhill lies, the course is never boring and while there are some challenging holes, there are also birdie opportunities if you play strategically. In addition to the golf course, Allenmore also has a short-iron driving range and a practice facility with chipping and putting greens.

This is a fun course to play. Some interesting holes.
I was a little unhappy with the conditions this particular day.
It had rained pretty hard the night before, but it appeared the pins had not been changed for at least a couple of days.
The holes were all broken down.
Other than that it was an enjoyable round.
Great municipal course
Allenmore is a Tacoma Municipal staple. Fairly short, true greens, and a bit soggy fairways. The clubhouse/pro shop is brand new and really nice, and the restaurant is going to keep people coming back. Very reasonable rates for what the course has to offer although during this time of year it is cart path only.
Quick greens
We play Allenmore two or three times each year. Greens are always fast and true.
Nice course, but not super
It's a good course that is well maintained, but many of the holes feel the same -- long and straight. At my level that's fine.
Snooze...
Course lacks a putting green, cart girls, restaurant, tee box on #1, all improvement to actually get done. Better players just move along, nothing to see here. Course would be worth practicing on for $10. Did I mention 150 yards limit driving range? I don't need to say any more. A lot of slow beginners play here so you are warned!
great for every day playing, nothing too special, but an excellent value.
I have played Allenmore several times now and it is drastically improved since the Elks moved and pumped a bunch of money into the facilities and grounds. In the summer months the greens were some of the best and slickest I have played on. In the winter months, the greens are more forgiving but in good condition. I recommend playing this course if you want to play a challenging but affordable track...
We had a great time.
We had a great time and the course was in very good shape for the month of October.
great
Nice course! A must play in Tacoma. Be prepared for slow play though. It looks easy but it's not. Super tight fairways. and some funnel in. What I liked, the Tee Boxes are flat. Condition is nice and your ball can be seen in the rough. It is a value play. Iron only driving range.Golf Tips:
Although the course is well maintained current construction on the first tee has you hitting from a mat.
Well maintained but generally uninteresting course. Repetitious in design and layout, but still good value for the money.
Greens are in great condition
The course needs
The course needs a few mior repairs. It has bee recently revamped and few adjustmets are required. Other than that, it is i great shape.
The Elks have improved this course dramatically since the last time I played here.
I have always like Allenmore, even as a student at UPS. However, with the Elks moving their lodge to the site they have improved the facilities immensely. There is a new club house, pro shop and restaurant. Although it rained, I enjoyed the course and the layout.
New club house pack a lunch
This is the first time I've played the course since they built a new club house! Now it is the Tacoma Elks! There is no food available for golfers on the turn so if you are expecting to get a snack after the front nine pack a lunch! The putting green by the pro shop is on a side hill and when you putt down hill it rolls off the green onto the cart path.
I can't wait until the club house opens!
Allenmore has always been a nice course, but they have bought it to the next level.
Paved cart paths and pristine greens.
The remodeling will no doubt make it Tacoma's top course. I just hope it does not price it out of the market for the average golfer.7
Course has come a long way lately with new amenities.
The course has a new clubhouse. But no restaurant yet. They have a driving range and a practice green now. Overall a great value but watch out for the speedy greens
Improvements
Best improvement is removal of trees on first hole. New cart paths are nice, but can't wait for restaurant opening.
Great course
Was visiting a friend in Federal Way and staying in a hotel in Tacoma. Decided to play this course as it was close and not expensive.
The course was outstanding with great greens. The greens were in great condition.
This is must play if in the south Tacoma area.
...great facility with friendly staff. Good value!
The greens were great and fairways fast. Love the new clubhouse and all new carts. Cant wait for the restaurant to open.
The new clubhouse is beautiful
We have golfed here many times and have seen it get better and better. It is close to home and the price very reasonable which works for us. The only criticism I would have would be the pace of play(granted it was the Fourth of July ). We had to call a Marshall because there was a six some a few holes ahead of us and there were two to three groups always waiting to tee of at each hole. The Marshall did come out and things did pick up a little. All in all a Long day of golf. Parking is an issue as well. We were lucky and found the only open spot.
