Great raining day course
The course was in great condition considering the massive amount of rain the area has gotten. Had a great time.
Fun course, always worth it.
There has been a lot of rain around these parts lately but the course was in pretty good shape. The greens rolled well and were still fast. My son and I played nine holes in one hour and thirty minutes.
Scramble
I play a few times a year at Lewis River and usually enjoy a leuisurely round on a nicely maintained course. This time, however, I was grouped behind a tournament of 30+ handicappers. As I watched a foursome on 10 hit 4 straight balls into the trees 30 yards to the right of them, I knew it was going to be a slow round. Luckily I was joined by 3 golf buddies who made the walk a little more enjoyable. 3:15 to play 9 holes.
Northwest Walk in a Park
Having lived in Vancouver for 3 years, I had not made it to Lewis River yet and heard good and bad things. We played early on a busy Saturday with a few events. Pace of play was great (4 hrs 10 mins) and staff was friendly and kind. Course had some issues with the greens as some turf loss was in spots and they had re seeded some collars and surrounds... they weren't very fast but rolled ok.. Some good views of the Lewis River from the patio too! It's a fun NW course, that isn't terribly long, you can easily walk and have a fun time. It might be a bit over priced, but I would come back.
Bad employees
This the second time I have used Golf Now at Lewis River. The first time the guy behind the counter was upset because we got the price of 10.00 dollars to play 18. This time the guy was rude when we asked if we could go off early because there was nobody at the tee box. He told us when you book on Golf Now I can make you wait until your tee time. We waited 45 minutes and nobody was teeing off.
I love playing here but everytime we book with Golf Now we are treated bad
Play Lewis River!!
Just a terrific place to play golf and get away from the city...and a great value for the money!
The course is nicely laid out in a beautiful mountain and scenic setting.
It is a fun and somewhat challenging course to play. They did had some bare spots on some of the greens and approach to the greens. It was an overall enjoyable course to play. The $5 food/beverage certificate is a plus.
Nice track
Greens are a bit off
All in all a fun course
Issues
I am still going to play there but the greens were not in good shape and looked like the fungus or what ever issue was there from last year. No reason for sand on a green. Also server staff in the restaurant were great they were not prepared to serve 4 people 15 minutes for 3 hot dogs well you tell me. As I said I am playing again soon it could have just been a better experience.
if u care about course conditions, this is not for you!!!
There must have been a change in ownership or something. Since Aug. 2014, the course has gone downhill and not worth my time or money anymore. I have been going to Lewis River for the better part of 20 years (7-10 per year) it’s an hour drive for me, but was worth it. I used to LOVE this place. It used to be the diamond in rough, a country club feel that was open to the public, a place I looked forward to playing because of the nice greens and nice conditions, but I won’t be back until the conditions dramatically improve! And at the rate they’re going, it might be a long time!! If you’re a beginner or just a hack that could care less about course conditions, then this is the course for you. But if you’re like me (9 handicap) and like to putt on nice greens, this is not a pace to play. The greens are splotchy, bumpy, and simply terrible. They claimed their irrigation system broke during a hot spell and burnt the greens. That was 2014, this is 2016 and they’re still not back? REALLY? And to charge $45.00 is a crime! And if that’s not enough, the bridges, stairs, bunkers are also in horrible shape. Some bunkers don’t even have sand in them. I am soo disappointed!!
For municipal course its very well maintained
Only issue is pace of play. Can be slow. Greens were well maintained. Its very nice course for the $. Like it for walking - very level and green to next tee box lay out is well done.
Winter Golf
Course was in relatively good playing shape considering the amount of rain SW Washington has received this winter.
winter golf
Course in fairly good condition for this time of year. With just getting above freezing you never new if greens were rock hard or normal. Course well maintined. Leaves blown from fairway. Overall a pleasant time
Broken Link
The staff had no idea that my buddies and I were playing at 1000 on a Saturday. They had not been told by GolfNow that we were coming. After showing proof that I had a reservation they were able to squeeze us in. So we had long waits at the tee boxes for the rest of the day.
Great setting, challenging course.
Course is interesting with a variety of challenges. The greens are better this year, but still a little ragged in spots. Except for a couple Par 5s, not a long course so even average hitters had a chance.
A Blissful Round of Golf
Over the past 20+ years I have played Lewis River at least 100 times, so obviously I like the course a lot. But Sunday, the day after the 4th of July, was a special round. The course was empty, the fairways and greens were immaculate, the staff was ultra friendly, (I'm sure they were thrilled to see another living, paying golfer) the pin placements were very generous, and the GolfNow rate was phenomenal.
I played 18 holes in 2 hours & 12 minutes, (with a cart) and I paired up with another single on 17 & 18. I was the poor guy's kryptonite. He hadn't shot worse than bogey thru 16 holes, so of course as soon as I joined him he hit his worst shot of the day (it bathed in the pond fronting 17) then made a remarkable up & down from over the back for double.
The only aspect of the day that could have been better was beyond anyone's control: It reached 93 by the time I made the turn. I coulda used it 10 degrees cooler.
All in all a very nice course, a fantastic round, and a helluva nice way to end the holiday weekend.
Always scenic playing Lewis River
Course was in good condition. Greens were a little soft because of watering. But was to be expected with mid-90 degree temps for the last week and next. Traps were in poor to fair condition, packed and not raked. Mid-week play with a cart allowed for a sub 4-hour round. Have played many times before and will play again. Overall, a good experience.
Time
Had a 130 tee time on slow Monday Golf Now tee time started right after 60 person 2 man best ball shot gun start. Playing time 5hrs 40 min Good course great day but suck
Twilight golf is better than free
I just finished purchasing a Twilight $30 package deal and it was an unbelievable value and experience. 18 holes of golf plus a power cart and $5 food voucher must be a rare thing these days but the condition of the course and beautiful layout make it something not to be missed.
