A far drive from the city but worthwhile
I just played Lewis River for the third time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Pace of play was brisk, everyone was friendly and the course was in pretty good shape. The hole layouts are what makes it such a fun course; it’s not long but it is challenging. Only aspects of the course that seemed lacking were the driving range, clubhouse and sand traps. When a great deal pops up it’s a great place to play.
Great Value
A really good course for the price. It’s a little off the beaten path but well worth the drive. The layout is interesting and the greens are challenging.
Lewis River - an old school track with some tight fairways
I love this course! Play it very often and always enjoy it. I enjoy the challenge of keeping it in the fairway since I like to hit it long with the driver, but accuracy is much more important off the tee generally..Although there is a 600 yard par 5 almost 650 from the tips! If your tee shots are working there’s a much better chance of scoring as most holes are not too long, (even from the tips except for a few holes have a huge distance gap to the back tee) however the greens do take some getting use to with the fairly severe slopes. The staff is always awesome and being out in Woodland always feels great, out of the city and in nature! Really a great value even at full price
COURSE CONDITION
THE COURSE IS IN VERY POOR CONDITION FAIRWAYS HAVE VERY LARGE SPOTS THAT ARE SOLID MUD WITH NO GRASS GREENS ARE IN POOR SHAPE FOR THE MONEY THEY ASK I WILL NEVER GO BACK
slowly drying
Greens are in great shape. Fairways are still wet in places. Cart path only elimates alot of play. Needs sand in wet spots, and 100 yard markers or red paint
Absolutely worth the drive!
Treat yourself to this course... love the layout...and the river is awesome!
Most friendly staff I've met!
Played on Sunday morning 03/04 and is was in amazing shape. The man behind the counter was extremely nice and went the extra way to make us right at home. Will definitely be back to this hidden jem ~Robert
Good day at the course
The gentleman working was very friendly and helpful. The course was in great shape considering the rain... no plugged golf balls all day. The one big drawback was that the greens hadn't been cut or rolled lately and with the early morning dew they were the slowest greens I can remember playing. That said we had a great time and even played another 18
Great Course
Lewis River is a great course. Always in good condition, fun holes, and nice people. The back 9 is especially pretty. One of my favorite courses.
One of my favorites
Nice course with a good layout. Love having a snack after my round at the restaurant. Nice view and casual atmosphere. One recommendation would be to spruce up the golf carts. Even a little tire black on the tires, fenders and floor matts would do wonders.
What happened to Lewis River?
No drinks cart despite it being a hot day, no water on course, large bare patches on fairways, putts bounced along on the greens instead of rolled, course was packed with mostly elderly players, no marshal, 5 hours.....on a Monday...and we drove 40 miles and paid $35.00 for all this! What a bargain.
Tale of two rounds
I played this course twice. Since I was traveling, I rented clubs both times. They have Nike clubs. Which I actually enjoyed. HOWEVER, both times I rented clubs; they were filthy! I had to borrow my playing partner"s club brush to get the dirt off. The second time I rented clubs, they brought out a very dirty set and I had them swap them out. Having been an assistant manager at a golf course; I find this level of service pretty poor. The second round I played; the course was soaking wet. There hadn't been any rain; so it had to be a watering issue. Not sure I'd go back.
Incredibly bad
I've played here many times and in the last 5 years it keeps on getting worse. I hate to say it because I've always loved the layout and views but I won't come back. Playing on a Sunday morning and no maintenance crews came out. No greens were mowed, puddles of water around the greens and fairways, areas of fairways missing huge chunks of grass. All that and have to pay 48 bucks to walk. I'm part of nw golf guys and they have a tournament there on the 10th of September. They will not be happy.
course is fun and challenging to play greens are in poor shape and have been this way for some time now.
greens seem to be getting better, but until they do their prices should be reduced. We played because we got an awesome deal through golf now. probably wouldn't at there current rate until greens are better
the setting for there restaurant however is awesome and so is their brisket
Pronghorn Golf Experience Package
Weird I play twice last week 5/15/18 and 5/17/18, the course looked better then all last year, greens are looking good and fairways are looking good... But I agree Richard you should probably never play there again. It's much more peaceful this way :) but for those that love scenery and good golf come on out!
