Twilight golf is better than free
I just finished purchasing a Twilight $30 package deal and it was an unbelievable value and experience. 18 holes of golf plus a power cart and $5 food voucher must be a rare thing these days but the condition of the course and beautiful layout make it something not to be missed.
Challenging course
Haven't played this course since 2004. Enjoyed playing this course again. It was very challenging and in good playing condition.
16, 17 very pretty holes
Greens generally in good shape. Fairways OK. Facility is very, very nice. Landscaping on 16 and 17 is just excellent from what it was years ago. Nice job, Ralph!
DMC
Great course, great setting. Would recommend to anyone at any skill level.
Over 600yards for Par 5
Can you hit straight 200 yard 3 times as a senior golfer? If you do, I like to invite you to this beautiful course with your partner. It is a nice setting course to try it.
great condition
Overall the course was in great , except the greens could have used a mowing. This course has a great setup, you will end up playing every shot in the book for this course. Bring your "A" game, or keep the driver in the bag. Getting in the fairway makes it much easier to score low. Enjoy!
great course!
The backdrop of the Lewis river, bald eagles screeching and fishing, long back 9, really nice experience!
Love it, but...
Lewis River is a fun course, and has always been one of my favorites. That being said, right now it is pretty rough shape. They lost several greens and the fairways are patchy. So... enjoy the layout. Set your expectations realistically, and know that some of the rolls won't be true.
Good energy
One of the gems of SW Washington. The greens are still in rough shape but for my game it didn't really change the outcome much. I ended up in a bunker that was more like a concrete pond. You can tell they are workng hard on improving conditions on the course but if you go with any stress you should leave well relaxed even if you don't turn in your pro numbers on your card this place has a way of helping one forget a tough work week it also helps with ones recovery from a sick day!
Greens are a disaster
This was probably the last time I EVER play this course. I couldn't believe how bad the greens were. Every green had large sections that were bare dirt and the entire green was dirt and grass intermingled. It was impossible to putt effectively. It was worse than playing on a green that had been recently plugged.
great course- but greens have issues right now
Love the course and the layout, but the greens need a little work
Terrible Greens
Don't know what happened to the greens. They were in terrible shape and it wasn't from aeration.
Great place to play golf when the course is in good condition.
Always love playing at Lewis River because of its surrounding beauty and well maintain course. Today, all the course greens were in terrible condition. The greens were brown and very rough. Putting was a challenge. Hope they get this problem solved.
golf course??
faiways had a lot of dry spots. the greens were in poor shape, very difficult to have a decent putt.
Didn't get to finish!!!!!!
We didn't get to finish our round. On the 17th hole two players came in from nowhere and cut in. At first we thought it was the scramble that was going on at 1:30 but we're not sure I think they just wanted to see how many holes they could play before they too had to quit. At 18 it was backed up with three sets of players so we had to quit. Where was a marshal???
Greens were in awful shape throughout course. Very disappointed drove two hours.
Greens lack green
upon arriving I discovered not only was a ladies club on the course averaging 5 hrs for the round, but a 20+ tournament was teeing of as soon as possible after the ladies finished.
I teed off 40 minutes late and the pace of play was slow.
I doubt I will give this course another visit.
Pitiful Greens
I have never seen the course in such poor condition. The greens were just pitiful - burned up, barren earth, sanded, tire ruts on the greens.
This is my favorite course but I've never seen it like this. Of course no mention of the pitiful greens when you are paying. I paid $18 and wondered why it was so cheap. They should have paid me.
Great location poor putting
I play twice a week on average, and try to play as many different courses as possible through the Portland Vancouver area. I'm not a pro but can get around better then most. I was looking forward to playing this course because I have heard good things. I was surprised to find a nice track an great views tainted by extremely poor greens! They wouldn't hold a good shot and they wouldn't hold a line because of the poor condition...... What a shame!
Surprised by the conditioned
The course is really baked out. Most of the greens were unputtable. Fairways and greens were so dry that you had to hit 1 and 1/2 less clubs into greens to keep ball on putting surface. I was surprised because I have played there many times in the 50 years of playing golf and have never played Lewis River in this condition. I called the pro-shop this morning and they admitted that they have some diseased areas that they are trying to fix but satisfied by its current condition. I hope they can save the course. It is definitely not worth playing right now
Normally play this course several times a year but will probably not return. Course management is drastically on the decline with extremely poor scheduling and management of groups. Greens and fairways in very poor condition. Such a shame to see the direction Lewis River's management is taking.
