greens are fast and firm
Downingtown is in better shape than its been in for quite some time. The greens are firm fast and true and it makes scoring a real challenge. The real strength of the course is in the greens and bunkering. The tees could be in better shape but other than that, you'll find real nice conditions. Kudos to Jaworski for improving the conditions and making this a top facility again.
Go Play !
This course is greatly improved since Ron Jaworski took it over. The grounds crews have kept this course green throughout this hot summer. Wonderful, lush and challenging.
Last minute tee time
Did not no what Downingtown country club would be like my son and I booked a tee time last minute. We were pleasantly surprised great course. We really liked the layout. The cart girl Elizabeth was always near by and we liked the halfway house food stand. We definitely will come back and play this course again.
Potential to be a Great Classic Country Club
With some TLC and effort, Downingtown could be really nice. The greens are very tricky and undulating, and I can see how the course can become a very nice country club with some more meticulous greenskeeping.
PACE: 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon; would have likely been 4:00 or better had there not been an outing ahead of us.
CONDITIONS: Could be really good but it had rained the night before so it was a little soggy and grass had not been mowed. I'm willing to play here again before I ultimately pass judgment, but for now, the course gets an average rating.
STAFF FRIENDLINESS: No problems at all.
VALUE: Everybody should look into getting the Jaworski Golf Pass. Played here for $25 on a weekend. It's a phenomenal deal.
LAYOUT: Didn't care too much for the layout. Quite a few instances of holes just going up and back. Only a few unique holes with doglegs. Water hazards on the back nine present a nice challenge. The course is very claustrophobic without an abundance of real estate between holes.
AMENITIES: No range (two nets are provided instead), chipping green, or "functional" putting green (nowhere near the condition of the greens on the course). However, the restaurant/bar and locker rooms in the clubhouse are nice.
Easy Ranger
Golfed with two guys I didn't know. None of us are scratch golfers. A few errant tee shots got us behind and then we got harassed by the course ranger for 3 holes to the point where one guy left. By hole 10 we were waiting to tee off and no ranger to be found. Kept tell us "members' were behind us. Guess what... I don't care. We were playing ready golf... just had two players that were playing double bogey golf. Not much you can do. Made for an unpleasant 5-6 holes. Easy Ranger... we are here to enjoy. 7 minutes is hurting anyone.
First time since new ownership
Jaworski's group acquired this course recently, and we had a chance to play it.
Nice layout, nice clubhouse with patio seating. They are putting in a new practice green in a much more practical area, next to the pro shop.
Mgmt is putting some $$ into the course, and is polishing up things. It seemed like a few trees have been trimmed or removed since last year, but i am not certain.
Great local course, and a good value.
All round great experience
I really enjoy this course; well maintained challenging but not crazy; well designed so you don't feel in the danger zone the whole time - and the hotdog at the turn is good! The bathrooms are clean and the calamari in the bar after have to be tasted to be believed
Course was great despite wet conditions
Played on Saturday July 15 morning. It poured the previous day and hours before my tee time. Didn't think carts would be allowed when I woke up in the morning. But to my surprise, when I arrived carts were allowed to drive anywhere! Greens rolled true and fast despite the rain the night before! I couldn't believe it! Course was in magnificent shape! From the other courses I played in the surrounding area, Downingtown is in the best condition and worth every penny. Great beer selection in the snack bar too! Will definitely be back in the near future.
Great conditions and great layout!!
Course was in great shape. Greens were rolling true and fast despite all the rain the area had the past week. I play downingtown 3-4 times a year for the past 15 years. And I can truly state, the course is in the best shape that I ever seen it! Kudos, to Mr Jaworski! Everyone from the bag drop to the pro shop attendants were very friendly! I highly recommend this course!

aerated greens and awful pace of play
Downingtown is a nice course that requires precise iron shots and a good touch around the greens. There was no alert listed that the greens had just been aerated. It made putting extremely difficult as no ball rolled truly on any of the greens. Also, the course had take on an outing for QVC that severely backed up play and caused a 4 hour and 45 minute round. It was a warm sunny day and the people I played with made the day enjoyable so it was not the end of the world. The course should be run better than it was on this day and for the regular rates that are charged here this course is certainly overpriced. I am hopeful to see the course in better shape soon.
Great weekend pace.
Played on a Sunday morning with three members, got around in under 4 hours. Course was well maintained. Greens rolled well for early in the season and bunkers were in good shape. Fairly short course but makes you think your way around. Definitely recommend, especially for the price.
Around fun
For this time of The year and all the rain we had this come really held its end of the bargain play here 4/10/17 pace was perfect and the staff can't say enough about them .... Andrew Dante in the pro shop excellent staff ... SonnyJ
Great Course - Great condition in February
Downingtown is always a fun course to play and never really has that much back up in pace of play. It takes a standard 4 hours to get around on most days. It was in great shape considering it's February and we've had a lot of rain. I'll be interesting to see how it holds up, as we got 8 inches on snow not more than 24 hours later, ha!
My only gripe with Downingtown has always been how expensive it is in the summer. Normally around $80/round unless you find a special deal on GolfNow. With other courses in the area being half that price and the same or better conditions, it's hard to find time to play this course more often. Still love the layout and course itself, just wish it was not as pricey during the summer.
Course is getting worse
I know it is January but they should still have a crew out picking up the branches that are on the greens and all over the course. The cart path is full of pot holes and the entire time there is not a minute your cart is bumping up and down. The best part of the course was the greens and it's a shame people do not repair diviot marks because you do not get a true roll on any of the greens. I really hope they put money back into this course since I heard they will be asking $100.00 per round which I wouldn't pay more then $45.00 to play here. I would play Glenn Mills, Broad Run and Honeybrook over this course anytime. I don't mind courses charging $100.00 but the course better be worth it and this one has a lot of work to do to compete with the other 3.
Nice Layout, tough greens
Playing on a Sunday in January, great thing, course in good shape, greens are its defense, fairways are generous, not a great deal of flat lies, but expected.
You will enjoy playing, but don't expect to score as well as you might think, greens have a lot of undulations and ridges, speed hard to judge, will play again, but too far of a drive to be a regular stop.
We were told when we got to the course that no carts were allowed out so that put a damper on the round. Course was wet but in decent shape for winter time.
Don't play here!!!
Greens roll very fast, smooth as glass, and trying to read them will make you cry. Not for the easily frustrated, but a wonderful challenge to the serious golfer. Pace of play was excellent. Take your range finder and trust it. Please don't play here I don't want it to get to crowded.
