Interesting course
Not a remarkable course but interesting with
picturesque sand traps and rolling greens.
Worth the $31 I paid on Lastminutegolf for sure.
Course in Terrible shape
the fairways are missing grass in large portions. It looks like they are planning to resod but just haven't gotten around to it. Large portions of areas on the front 9 are full of craters of dirt areas where grass apparently once grew. I wouldn't play here until spring when hopefully the grass has time to recover.
Disappointing for This Nice Layout
Have never seen course in such poor shape. Maybe it is lack of rain, but many bare spots everywhere. Pace of play was horrendous with no activity from marshals. Two groups ahead had lost a hole and a half (appeared to be playing the game for the first time...). Pricing appears haphazard and is not communicated on website. Sorry Jaws, but you have work to do.
Golf
Great course great locations of fairway bunkers from the tee.... Greens rolled nice even though recently aerated ...,terrible beer selection , should have the local brewery available ( victory beers)
great course
Ron Jaworski made the course more player friendly by simple modifications, 4th hole, and grooming- real sand in the traps. Carts are new, food is improved. Great experience.
Challenging course
Tough course, especially for the area. Good challenging combination of trees and deep bunkers. Fun course that they keep moving.
Ridiculously slow play!
Let me start off by saying that I was so excited to play here. The course is very well manicured. But the Greens are just way too slow. No matter how hard you hit it 90% chance you will not get it to the hole. I love the layout, but the place just doesn't care about pace of play. Mind you we played Wednesday at 1:15 . It was incredibly slow the entire day but when we got to the par three 12th, we had to wait for the foursome in front of this to even tee off. When we asked the Ranger what the problem was, his reply, it always backs up here due to the hot dog stand in between 11 and 12. The problem with that, it was closed.. after the foursome finally teed off about 10 minutes later , we waited for approximately another 20 minutes. The entire time we were waiting, there was a another foresome on a different Green. That foursome was on their green from the time we pulled up until we were done our hole. It was approximatly a half hour. When I mentioned to the Ranger about that group, he told me relax, they're in a tournament.... I played a total of 14 holes because of time restraints even though I gave myself 4 hours and 45 minutes to play the round.
Downingtown Country Club
The course has wide fairways and large greens and was in excellent condition. Only bad thing was it took over 5 hours to play.
over 5 hours to play 18 holes!!!
The course is nice enough and in decent shape, but pace of play was very slow. Took us 5 1/2 hours to play on a Saturday afternoon and we never saw a ranger the entire round. Probably would not play on a weekend again.
Will be playing there again
First time playing here for me. I really liked it. Course conditions were great. Nice tees, fairways, rough, sand, and greens. Greens rolled true. Nice overly fast but fast enough. Never came here before because always found it to be expensive. Was able to get on the course via golfnow at 3pm for 30. The day I played was hot and humid and scared everyone else away so we(2 some) were able to finish the round in 3 hours and 10 minutes. If the course was crowded and I didn't have the golfnow discount, I may feel different in terms of value and pace of play. Conditions of the course were great none the less. The layout is good. Some shorter par 4s so driver isn't needed all the time. Will be getting out here again as long as discounts are available. Not sure I'd pay the full price. But playing at 3pm during the week for 30 which includes a cart is a steal here. Only issue I have is the snack shack doesn't take credit cards and it felt like there was a lack of water coolers on the front 9. Maybe I missed them though.
A great day!
I have been playing here for over thirty years and the course is in the best shape I have ever seen. All of the staff were very friendly and very helpful. It was an excellent day of golf.
Qualified Excellence
see they are keeping and rough in great shape (Unfortunately watering fairways when hitting into them). Greens were extremely slow. Since Jaworski took over, see they added sand in traps however they have raised the prices for walking in what is the most walkable course in the area. Also, this is my second time playing in a month here and both times had no water at one of their watering stations. Without legitimate practice facilities, what could be an excellent facility is just good.
Golf Day
Perfect day for golf. Last minute booking got my son and I out for a nice round. Got paired up with a nice guy from Manhatten. Course was in good shape and played very fair. Enjoyed the day!
This course is a good play
I was not sure what to expect, was completely surprised by the course layout and condition. Enjoyed the afternoon and plan on coming back with my wife and friends.
A Bumpy Road
I typically don't play Sunday golf due to the amount of golfers out on the course, but I made an exception this week. The track is familiar, but the conditions were not as great as they once were. The greens were bumpy and did not seem to be rolled or cut. I pride myself on being an above average putter, but I could not keep anything on line. The tee boxes were disgraceful. They were uneven and rugged. I've played better courses for less. Their rates are ridiculous, and the value is just not there.
Great Course
The course was in fantastic shape. Greens were very receptive and rolled true.
I will come back
Very nicely maintained; Friendly staff; Few challenging holes; Overall enjoyed very much.
Downingtown
Love the course and the layout. The staff was very nice and pace of play was decent. Just wish it had better prices like I found yesterday a lot more often
Course in tremendous shape
The course is in great shape. Greens roll true, hold shots into them. Fairways in great shape. Sand traps need to be raked everyday, very hard not soft at all even with new sand in them. Only complaint is the "members", older guys who can't hit a ball 150 yards waiting at the 225 yard marker on holes for the people in front of them to get off the greens. Otherwise pace was great finished in under 4 hours and it would have been a 3hour round.
Nice Course
I always enjoy playing at Downingtown and the staff is top notch. If you can find a time for around $40 during the week I think it is well worth the money.
