Cold Water Canyon Golf Course at Chula Vista Resort
About
Cold Water Canyon Golf Course in the Wisconsin Dells has a layout that dates back to the 1920s, making it one of the oldest golf courses in the state. Originally a nine-hole course, it was expanded to a full 18 holes but the original layout was carefully preserved as the front nine. The back nine offers a completely different round with a Scottish-links design, however it manages to blend seamlessly with the classic layout of the first nine. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with as well. The second half of Cold Water Canyon Golf Course is more challenging than the front but both are equally scenic. The golf course and the adjoining Chula Vista Resort are tucked away amidst thick forests of mature trees.

Wisconson November golf
Staff was very, very friendly; greens were well kept. Fairways were cut short and rough was okay.
Nice carts, included in the price--weather was in 70's (yes in November). A couple of sweet dog legs, and short par threes.
No service carts were there--but I only saw four other groups of gofers.
Once a year
I play the course once a year. Nice course. Price is right through Golfnow.
fun course
beautiful day, course was in real good condition, loved the greens, would highly recommend
Challenging Course but Not Long
Okay, "not long", but it is sneaky long because of the dog legs, rough and tough greens. The two nines are very different. First nine is more carved through trees, tight'ish, and tiny greens. Ball placement is critical both off the tee to give you the proper angles into the green and because the greens are so small on the front you have to be accurate.
The back side then is a total change. Much more wide open and more true links style. Plenty of room off the tee but if you waiver from the fairway be ready for those large fescue hills that will swallow up your ball. Large greens and undulating. Fun course though and greens were in great shape.
Good course and is playable for the average golfer
Great value when using golf now and the hot deals The course has always been in good condition and is enjoyable to play.
great value for the money
played the canyon the day after 4.5" of rain and it was in great shape! very tight front nine and more of a links style on the back nine. i will play this course again when I get back to the dells area!
Great value. Challenging
Great course. Steady pace of play. Great mix of traditional tree lined fairways on front nine followed by a links style back nine. Would definitely play again. Golf now deal, played midday . Played for $12!!!!
Coldwater canyon at Chula Vista
Excellent course and staff and facilities were also top notch.
A good mixture of shot making
Front nine..tighter fairways then back nine. Fairways don't butt up against each other. .I like that. Again just off season so not many on the course.
Higher Expectations
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Course was pretty easy and should have played faster. Condition of the front 9 was adequate and the back 9 was very nice and well taken care of . I would possibly play again earlier in the season.
Nice course unacceptable service
Very nice course, but pace of play was very slow as it took 5hr for 18 holes and we never stopped at the turn. The part that was very concerning is we only seen the beverage cart 1 time the whole round which was at hole number 5. We even called when we got to hole 13 and they said the beverage carts were still out and that they would be sure to send one out right away which never happened!!!!
Great shape
Course is in great shape only thing I would recommend is upgrading the carts
Loads of fun!
Simply put this course is just a fun course to play. You get to use every club in the bag. Dog legs left and dog legs right. It even has a par five with a double dog leg. We had a lot of fun playing Coldwater Canyon.
great course with lots to offer
Great course I just wish they had sand on the carts so you can clean up your divots
We'd play here again!
This was a nice course and it was in good shape. The tee boxes could use hole layouts rather than simply distances. There was no GPS system and unfamiliarity makes it tough to figure out some holes. Maybe a caddy card on the cart would help. The front nine had no drinking water (and the beverage cart didn't have any either) and the back nine didn't have drinking water until end. These are suggestions that would really upgrade the experience, but in spite of them, it is worth playing!
A tale of two very different nines.
Coldwater Canyon at the Chula Vista resort is not a long course, but it sure isn't a pushover! Tight fairways, tall trees, and native grasses on the back nine made this course a challenge. The front nine is a classic, traditional layout with tall trees lining the fairways, you start the back nine across the road, and it's like someone flipped a switch. It's like a links-style layout, with tall grass on both sides. Only about 5800 yds. from the tips, but you better hit it straight! Well maintained, good friendly staff. I can't honestly say this course is on the same level as some of it's longer nearby options (Trappers Turn, Wild Rock, etc.) But for the hot deal I got on GolfNow.com. , it was more than worth it. This course is ideal for a short, accurate hitter.

Great course!
First time this year. We've always enjoyed playing this course especially the old front 9. If you're in the area you have to try it.
nice round
It was a nice day for golf. Course was in great shape and presented challenges since it was the first time playing. They do need to get more directions to the holes.
Short and Sweet
It is a nice course for those who want to play somewhere that is short and not too difficult. Greens are relatively small and roll nicely. Overall it is a nice course that is worth trying.
Fun To Play
The new Pro Shop and Baths were fantastic. The new Restaurant and Bar will be completed around May 22.
The food at any restaurant at Chula has always been excellent. This course is always fun to play and they are always making improvements.
