Links at Gettysburg
About
The Links at Gettysburg sprawls across rolling hills situated near the hallowed grounds where the defining battle of the Civil War took place. The golf course wages a formidable challenge itself, featuring 35 steep rock cliffs where the stone-lined tee boxes are perched and 10 lakes and waterfalls that come into play throughout. Red rock cart paths give a contrast to the lush greens and sparkling blue waters. The dramatic elevations allow golfers to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside but the scenery can be almost too distracting since the demanding layout requires all of your attention. Be prepared for a bevy of strategically placed bunkers as well as mature trees. With the challenging layout and unrivaled views, it is no surprise that the Links at Gettysburg is ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in Pennsylvania.

Gettysburg up to par
Pace of play was good. Cart paths only was understandable due to the excessive rain recently but drainage is generally pretty good.
Hidden Gem an hour from Leesburg, VA
Hadn't played this course in several years and played it twice the last week in August (senior rate). If this course was a half hour away, I would join. The conditions are excellent, as is the layout and pace of play. The 2nd time I played with a member who was very nice. Course makes you think. The par 5s are risk reward. Greens are difficult so if you are above the hole, pray for a two putt. Greens are fast & if you hit a good approach shot it will suck back at least a foot. I'll be back with some friends.
POOR SERVICE
I made a tee time on GOLF NOW. When we arrived, our name was not on the courses tee sheet for the day. I brought along my printed confirmation for our tee time. The course staff blamed GOLF NOW for over booking the course. Pace of play extremely SLOW. 5 and 1/2 hours for the round. Waited on every shot. Asked staff to help out, nothing changed. Ranger did nothing to change pace of play. Played this course many times in the past. Now I would not recommend.....
Nice
Great course. Booked on golfnow and got great price. Staff went out of way to make you feel welcome. Course was long for average senior, but challenging a golfer is what we want.
New favorite
This is definitely a course to give you a challenge. First time playing here or a links style course and this is now my new favorite course. Will definitely be back again.
The Links at Gettysburg has a great layout with excellent amenities
Playing the Links at Gettysburg is challenging but fun. Course is in great shape and great staff helping out. Worth the trip and the time
Links @ Gettysburg
Course is well manicured.
Greens are the gatekeeper for scoring integrity.
Front desk stated they do NOT partake in Golf Now deals, but they also admitted that there have been glitches in getting their account removed (from Golf Now). The front desk person was clearly frustrated in trying to get us out.
However, course rangers were out in full -- actually saw 4 personnel multiple times policing the pace of play. It was still a five hour round, but they were working the pace -- hats off to the effort.

The course was in great shape and the greens were rolling perfect. I will be back again to play this course!!
Top notch
This course ranks high on the states best public courses list. It is not for the faint of heart. The holes have diversity and plenty of challenge. Is it Oakmont or Merion? No, but for public course experience it is one of the best I have experienced. We played on an early spring day but course conditions were just fine and I am sure they improve into peak season. The greens are big and have subtle undulations and slants to them that keep you guessing. A few greens are set into the landscape that features natural red rock backdrops. Water comes into play on most of the holes and it is prominent on the back nine from the 12th hole to the finish. Take your A game and be sure to play the right set of tees to manage your game for the best experience.
Course in ex. shape even with wet conditions, cart path only. Played in little over 3 hrs.
Jason was very cooperative with us, left us go off early to beat the incoming rain, which we did. Has to be one the best and nicest courses in the area. Well worth the money.
Very poor conditions
This course is usually in great shape! It was the worse I've had ever seen any course. Please call to make sure about it's conditions.
Don't bother playing this year.
"Fungus" is what I was told caused the fairways to completely fail. Greens are good, most of the tee boxes are good. Fairways are destroyed. If you -do- absolutely -have- to play here, do not pay more than $20. It's just not worth it.
LOVE this course. One of my top ten courses. Can't wait for it to come back to it's former glory. Until then...nope.
Excellent layout. Strategic golf at it's finest.
Play for position.
Tough to play right the first time, unless you are with someone who knows the course. Some semi-blind shots, and others that look straightforward, but when you get up to your ball, you say "I wish I would have known...."
I'll try to help.
On the first tee, you do not need to hit driver. Play a hybrid or 5-wood up to the right side of the fairway. This will open up the hole to you for your approach. Too far left and you will be blocked out. Then you will hit into a wide but shallow green, usually downhill from you.
On the second tee, you'll want to hit a fade off of the left side, taking care to avoid the bunker that guards the right corner, as the green is set off to the right, across a big wild ditch.
The third hole is the signature picturesque par 3, with an elevated tee to a treacherous green. Too long and you'll ricochet off the rock face, too short and you are in the junk. Best to hit an extra club or two and aim for the meat of the green with a controlled knockdown shot. Par is an excellent score here.
The 4th is a reachable par 5 for almost all of us. Let the big dog eat from this elevated tee that is usually downwind. Your second shot is a little uphill, so take enough club.
The 5th hole is another "strategery" hole. You don't need to hit driver here. A good hybrid or long iron short of the big bunker on the right will leave you an easy shot into this green, which is very well bunkered. Two levels to this large green, so try to stay on the right level, or three-putt looms.
The next hole (#6) is a straightforward par 3, a chance to catch your breath before the signature par 5 7th. It's a little uphill, and often into the wind. Take enough club.
The 7th is a huge risk/reward hole. You tee off from a very-elevated tee box to a diagonal sliver of fairway running from the low left to the far right, bracketed by water on both sides. Best to hit a fade here, off of the right edge. Then you can blast a 3 wood up the gut towards the well-guarded green up the hill. Play your second shot to the left side of the fairway, avoiding the bunker on the right, and you'll have a good look at the green. A tough bunker guards the front right, but you can run a shot up from the left.
#8 is an awesome hole from the tee, as well. You drive across a bridge to hit a hybrid or long iron into another diagonal fairway. Draw it off of the rock wall towards the green to give yourself a short wedge into a slippery multi-layered green.
The 9th is a tough par 4 going up the hill towards the clubhouse. Drive from an elevated tee across a gully to the uphill fairway. Take an extra club to reach the elevated green, avoiding the bunkers that guard it front left and back right.
Usually love this course
I've played this course over a dozen times and have never seen it in this bad of conditions. As other reviewers have said the fairways are patchy and have been over watered so much that my ball literally plugged into them on almost every fairway. It was miserable trying to find my ball for 20 minutes when it's somewhere in the middle of the fairway!
Greens were okay, tee boxes were fine, rough was soaked as well making it hard to hit an accurate shot. I know it will be back up to par soon, I can't see that being achievable by October though, as a reviewer said.
Staff and pro shop were great as always!
Nice track
Looked at some of the negative reviews and I think it was a bit unfair. The course had disease but that's expected this time of season. With that being said, the greens were great, staff super friendly, and facility was clean. Although course was diseased, the course is very playable. I will definitely be back in the fall when the fairways are healed. The course is difficult if you have never played here and would help if you play with someone local who knows the course.
One negative note; the players need to fix divots and fix pitch marks....
Great course and challenging!
Excellent day at Links @ Gettysburg . Definitely add to your list when visiting Gburg.
