Overwatered
The course has a good layout and challenging due to the rough swallowing your ball if you were not on the fairway. Conditions were muddy and saturated with water, Greens were squishy, muddy sections and some had weeds and grass kill. Seemed like the watering system was left on all night because the temps were in the 80's with no rain for over a week.
Wife needed to go to the bathroom early on so we were not impressed when we got to the 6th hole and the men's was out of order and the women's was absolutely trashed. Toilet plugged, seat ripped off and water everywhere. She ended up having to wait till the turn since there are no other options on the course.
We paid $32 each + fees for the round on Golfnow but honestly not worth the money today. Lots of other courses in better condition for comparible price.
Not a bad value course
As this was the first time playing this course, I was sure glad to have the GPS on my phone. Since we were playing the front tees we never looked at the hole layout. The hole not problem was they were watering the course so all of the greens were saturated. Overall I enjoyed playing this course and would definitely be back.
The Oaks
I have seen this course making some slow improvements over the last few years. I thought the greens rolled pretty nicely. Most of the tee boxes were in good shape. Fairways were actually very nice. Cutting back the vegetation around the water hazards was a plus. Now a couple downsides. Some of the rough needs to be cut back. Too easy to lose balls on fairly accurate shots. The cart path needs some repair. Some of the sand traps could use an upgrade.
This course needs TLC
If ball rolled just 2 inches into rough it was practically lost.
Rough had not been cut for a while due to mower mail function. Greens were a little on the slow side. Cart pathss
Very bad on many holes. Clubhouse was ok, proshop EMPTY. Lets just say this is not a course I would play again. Played a better course Day earlyer for less greenfee.
Disappointing round
Even though the reviews were not that good, it was given a shot. Unfortunately the reviews were spot on. Being 1 yard out of the fairway, the rough was so high that it was almost certain to be a lost ball. The fairways were, not good, but playable. Greens were okay, not more. Bunkers were hard pans that hadn't been raked for a while. The range balls (Titleist practice) were really good though. It was a shame that the condition of the course was not that good, because the course layout is actually pretty good.
Oaks National
Great place to enjoy a round of golf. GO!! You won’t regret it. Great value for the money! Take the drive. Play the course.
Very very wet!
The course was drenched with water as the sprinklers were drenching the greens. The rough was very high. So high that I lost 8 golf balls and by the 14th hole I was down to my last golf ball in my bag. I was lucky to find 2 golf balls on the 14th rough as I was actually looking to find a ball in case I lost my last one. I usually play this course in March and it was in better shape then. On the last par 3 the sprinklers were watering the greens and I got wet trying to putt. Balls don’t roll too good with drenched greens. I only paid $30 so I wasn’t too upset. Jacob the guy in pro shop was great. Very nice guy.
Horrible conditions
Fairways were horrible. Sometimes couldn't tell the difference between fairway and rough. The so called rough area was so thick, didn't look like it was cut for a month. Greens were ok. It took a little to find a cart path and at times it was an adventure just finding the tee box. My recommendation, stay away.
Florida trip.
Course was wet since it rained hard the night before. Green were in good condition. The fairways were in decent condition but the second cut were so deep and thick that they were unplayable. We lost several balls in the second cut right next to the fairways. Overall, the course is a little better than in past years but still needs lots of work.
Lack of course maintenance.
I understand there needs to be rough but it looked like nothing was really mowed at all. It made some of the other courses i play look like Augusta National.
Officially Florida's “Links at Victoria”
This course is not well maintained with overgrown grass on the fairways that leads to a lot of balls going missing even when you hit a good shot. The sand traps were as hard as concrete, some are even filled with water. The cart paths are so damaged with potholes, if you accidentally hit one with your cart you’ll go flying. And for this round, someone from the neighborhood surrounding the course decided to sit out on the green on 13 with their dog, leading to our group skipping it completely. Honestly the course is not worth the money spent, and needs a complete overhaul. Which sucks cause the staff were super nice.
1 foot off fairway = wilderness
I’m a bogey golfer, so most of the time I’m a bit off the fairway. I lost at least a dozen balls at this course. The grass in the rough was higher than my calf for many of the holes. Some holes are better than others, but the upkeep has went way downhill this summer. Tees weren’t any better. Broken tees all over the place, weeds, and hard to tell which color the tees are because they haven’t been painted.
I think I spent more time looking for balls than I did actually playing.
